It is a hotel with a very good location and very good service from the receptionist. The condition of the hotel is excellent, no complaints. The room is large, the bathroom is clean, the toilet is separated from the shower, there is a small part of the room where the maid works to clean every day. There is an onsen, a fitness room and a restaurant. I recommend it. If you come to stay in Kyoto, you must come to this hotel only. It is really good.

Amazing experience. Some traditional japanese vibes mixed with westernized traits. It was our first time visiting a hotel with any resemblance to a traditional japanese hotel - this was a great entry point into this kind of experience. As is traditional, you are required to leave your shoes in the footlockers by the entrance. You walk around the hotel in socks / barefoot. In some spaces wooden shoes are provided (example: public toilet on the first floor, toilet in the hotel room), everywhere else is socks-only. The design is very traditionally looking, pleasing to the eyes. Breakfast offers a combination of japanese and western dishes in a buffet style - so if you want to try some traditional japanese food, but are afraid you won’t like it - you will still have plenty of options (I will add a photo as an example - in reality the list of options is much bigger both in both japanese and western cuisines). Onsen is great, works a long time (3pm-10am). We went there in the morning / day / evening — all times it was not too crowded, sometimes there were only a couple other people in there. The onsen are separate for men and women, so there is no need to check against any timetable (men hours / women hours, how some other hotels do it) - you can go any time when onsen is open. Location is great too — multiple subway stations are close, Kyoto Tower is in about 10 minutes of walking. Many restaurants nearby.

The hotel is just one stop away from Kyoto JR Station; you step right out into it. There's also a bus stop right outside the entrance. It's very convenient for visiting attractions in Kyoto city. The whole place feels very new and modern. You're required to take off your shoes upon entering the hotel, and walking barefoot throughout the entire premises takes a bit of getting used to. They offer complimentary late-night noodles starting at 9:30 PM daily. In the mornings, there's unlimited Yakult, and in the evenings, free-flow ice pops. Both indoor and outdoor onsen (hot springs) are available. However, since Kyoto likely doesn't have volcanoes, the overall quality of the hot springs can't quite compare to similar hotels in areas like Hakone. P.S. This hotel belongs to the same management group as Mizunone, where I stayed in Hakone last year.

The hotel boasts a fantastic location, just a 3-minute walk from Keage Subway Station. It's also conveniently located within a 5-10 minute walk of major attractions like Nanzen-ji Temple, Eikan-do Temple, and the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. Plus, popular coffee shops like M Stand Coffee and Blue Bottle Coffee are a mere 3-minute stroll away. The accommodation and facilities were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

This has always been one of my favorite hotels, a Mercure chain property. They offer a complimentary evening bar service where all food, drinks, sake, and small snacks are free. It's perfect for a group of friends to gather, whether for team-building or just a casual get-together.

The hotel boasts a charming Japanese style, creating a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Even the old-fashioned keys for the room doors were a delightful touch. The hotel offers both private onsen baths and a large public bathhouse. I tried both and actually found the public bathhouse to be cleaner. While the private baths provided good privacy, the pools themselves were somewhat small. Being surrounded by plants, I noticed some small insects and hair floating on the water. You're meant to use a net provided nearby to scoop these out yourself. It was quite dimly lit, and I worried I wouldn't be able to clean it thoroughly, especially since the net itself had holes. Ultimately, this was a bit off-putting, so I ended up preferring the public bath. But that's just my personal take. The hotel's meals were plentiful, but the taste was just average. Overall, I still really appreciated the hotel's aesthetic and found my stay very comfortable.

Located right in the heart of the Shijo commercial district! The front desk staff on the first floor were genuinely handsome and incredibly patient! It's quite rare to see such handsome Japanese men! And then there's the hotel's rooftop bar! It's truly fantastic and has an incredible 'wow' factor. Imagine sitting there with a drink, soaking your feet, and gazing out at the Kyoto cityscape – you can even spot Kiyomizu Temple, Ninen-zaka, and overlook the Kamo River. It's absolutely wonderful. The hotel's onsen bath is also incredibly relaxing! I wholeheartedly recommend it – you absolutely won't be disappointed! However, the rooms are a bit on the small side.

It takes more than ten or twenty minutes to take the hotel shuttle bus from JR Kameoka Station, so you need to make an appointment with the hotel in advance. The Japanese-style room is very comfortable, and breakfast and dinner are also great! There are hot springs. There is a shuttle bus to the Hozugawa Ferry Terminal, and you can also make an appointment for pick-up and drop-off from the Saga JR Station.

AAhmet ZekiDear Sir/Madam, I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard. However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements: 1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue. 2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition. 3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience. 4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated. 5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space. 6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering. In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction. If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards. Best regards, next visit to Kyoto. DDmitry NateWe stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style 😍 the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit. We were very pleased with our stay in this guest house.

季笙椋This is an absolutely wonderful hotel! The top floor features a lounge with stunning views, where you can catch the sunset and the entire Kyoto nightscape in the evening. The surrounding area is packed with dining and drinking options – you'll never have to worry about finding food. In fact, it's so incredibly convenient to eat out that the only challenge is deciding among so many delicious choices! There are also many charming little shops nearby, yet the area isn't noisy or chaotic, creating a truly pleasant and inviting atmosphere. Transportation is excellent, too. I particularly enjoyed the drinks and beer in the lounge; sipping one while watching the sunset in the evening was pure bliss. The hot springs were also excellent. It offers superb value for money, and I will definitely be back!

TTakakohazenutFirst up: it can get really scary walking thru long, dark, quiet lanes from the Kyoto station to the hotel late at night. Regardless of how safe Japan is, this was one of the few times I got spooked. So please just take a cab from the station and dun try walking if you are arriving close to midnight like I did. In the morning though, and after checking out the area + google maps, I realised the hotel location is rather good if you are taking buses instead of trains. The bus stop to many tourist locations are just a short walk away from the hotel entrance. And in Kyoto, I realised buses are the way to go! So this is the best point about the hotel, in addition to the small public bath. Room is small, old, and because they ran out of non-smoking rooms, the room was really smelly because the cigarette smoke/smell has gone right up into the aircon vents. No matter how much deodorant spray you use, it is futile. So please note if you are a non-smoker. Staff are alright but they hardly can speak English. Also a little inflexible in accommodating requests, such as refusing to help me to heat up some packed food. Breakfast spread is average, same food every day.
