4-Star Hotels in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan

This hotel have several convenience stores nearby. And a shopping mall near the car park. I rented a three bed room. At first, the humidity of the room is relatively high, and have an air-con water dropping issue. Being told that this issue is normally in Japan since it is a raining season, but the staff assist to offer another room. The second offer room air-con is in trouble, which is not cool even turned to 16 degree. At last, we were upgraded to the slightly larger room with three beds (the third bed is still a sofa bed). The room is so clean, two beds are in double bed, the tv could used for Netflix and YouTube. I would say the organise of the staff is in a satisfy level. The shower supplies are in Kose, the water pressure is relatively good among four hotels I’ve been stayed in Japan for this trip. But there are only 8 car parking in this hotels, with the first in first serve policy. So, we couldn’t managed to have a car parking although I’ve been told in the comment box by trip.com. However, they have some collaborated car parking suppliers nearby with a discount coupons. It’s not really convenient for you if you just stay for one night. But for me, it’s more than acceptable.

I stayed ２ at the end of the year. It was my first stay, but I wanted to relax and stay again. The hotel is over ９ floor, but the glass is often used and the view is bright everywhere. Creation that I have never seen before. A mechanism that cannot be put in the room key in the lodging zone. The building is a corridor style, overlooking the garden and chapel on the ９ floor, but it is lit up at night and this is beautiful again. The rooms are a bit vertical, but I was able to spend calmly. I liked my wife very much. The public bath is also like a fashionable and splendid hot spring hotel. Maybe more. There was a drum coin laundry next to the entrance of the public bath, and it was convenient for consecutive nights. Breakfast was a buffet, but the buffet on New Year's Day is a great word. When I arrived at the entrance with the service of the soup and arrived at the seat, the miscellaneous boiling was carried first. The soup was very delicious. In addition to the usual buffet, there were special dishes for New Year's Day, but there were many fresh sashimi, kazukono, shrimp, etc. There was red rice in rice. All were delicious and ate a lot. I went by car, but I went directly from the underground parking lot to the front floor and the parking fee was very good. Moreover, I think it is the best value for money in a hotel in Kumamoto City with a 24-hour parking setting. My wife started saving money because she wanted to go to the end of this year.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The room was clean and easy to spend. There is a tatami mats, so you can go go go. The bed is a bit hard, but it is not difficult to sleep. The open-air bath can hear the sound of the car because it is all over the city, but there is a cherry blossom and it is not visible from the surroundings, and the curtain for completely blocking is also installed, so if you are concerned, you can use it. The water was clean and easy to use. The outlet is hardly close to the floor, under the TV, under the bed, the bathroom and the air cleaner. If the charging cable is short, the tablet will be charged at the bed. If the charging cable is long, you can extend it from the TV and put the tablet on the tatami mats to charge. It was because it was a room near the coin laundry on the 3 floor, and I heard the sound of the washing machine. However, I was able to spend it without worrying about it. It is also convenient that the next door is seven eleven. I didn't use breakfast buffet because of corona. The hotel receptionist is a sister in a T-shirt, and there is no atmosphere called ”Hotel Man”, but I was able to check in and check out smoothly, and there is no rudeness. It was a very good hotel with location, newness and cleanliness.

We took Highway Bus (2.5hr) from Fukuoka Airport to Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Koko Hotel is directly connected to the bus terminal. Hotel was opened in June 2022 and there were now clear signages to Koko Hotel as we alighted from the bus. We took escalator to the 2F and take the lift to the 14F where the Hotel lobby is. From the lobby, we get a clear view of Kumamoto Castle. Our Superior Twin Room is very spacious and comfortable. We paid Y32,310 for 2 nights. It is 10 mins walk to the Castle, and 10 mins taxi ride to Kumamoto Station. Amu Plaza next to Kumamoto Station has plenty of eateries. Sakuramachi has Family Mart, restaurants and shops.

This hotel is located within a short walking distance from the Kumamoto station. From the JR bstation exit it is on the left, just beside the Bic Camera store next. There is also a streetcar/tram stop so near the hotel which you can use to explore the city touristy spots! Shopping is convenient as the Kumamoto AMU Plaza (see another Review) is 5-mins walk away. The lobby is quite spacious and I quite like the intimate setting and lighting. Check-in was fast and 3 lifts serve well with travellers + luggages. The room design is quite standard and we have requested for x2 single bed, the room size is respectable. Noted that they're still using the physical hard key and not the keycard type. Hottel provided some amenities and complimentary bottled water in the room, sufficient for us . The Hotel is very into Going Green, there will be no housekeeping within first 3-days unless requested upon. This may likely be the model moving forward, to cut wastages. We had our breakfast at the nearby Pronto. The Kitaoka Shrine is just about 400 metres nearby, opposite direction of JR station so we recommend to drop by if time permits. A good stay experience. J

The hotel is near the shopping streets.It's convenience for us to buy everything, includes the souvenirs and daily use.The grilling meat shops are covered all the street.Over 3 parking lots are nearby the hotel as well.Furthermore, many delicious Japanese food shops for choosing.The hotel also provides free water spa and sauna on the top floor which runs near 20hrs daily.The 3-persons bedrooms are clean and large, it has enough space for family to take a nap.Come again next time.

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

Highly recommended. The staff are very helpful and polite. The hotel is also in close proximity to shimotori shopping arcade and a big shopping mall. The castle is also within walking distance. The hotel lobby has quite a number of kumamon for photo taking.

Most important thing to know about this hotel is that THERE IS NO BATHROOM IN THE ROOMS!! IF you do not intend to shower / bathe in the public bath, then you will have to have a simple wipe down and the only thing in the room is a toilet bowl (with bidet). The location is pretty remote but because of the remote location you have a great view. All rooms facing the back of the hotel get a great view of the mountains behind. Parking is free! After going to the Onsen, you get free Ramen as well and the ramen changes daily. I noticed there were many Japanese families having a great time in the hotel when I was there. It is also equiped with a karaoke room, ping pong tables, massage chairs. If you are not comfortable going to public baths, please find another property.

There are 2 Daiwa Roynet Hotels in Kumamoto, so we took a taxi to the wrong one! Fortunately, they are walking distance from each other. The taxi driver cannot read English, so you need to be clear that it is the Ginza Dori one. It is not near to the railway station, so tram ride is needed. We took a taxi because there were 2 of us and 2 large bags. I like the room size because of our large suitcases. There are many restaurants nearby. We love this place

My wife and I stayed at the Nikko Kumamoto from 1/5/2023- 3/5/2023 on our second leg of the kyushu trip after a disastrous stay at Nikko Huis Ten Bosch( that I posted on another review). The hospitality was a complete turnaround . We arrived by taxi from the kumamoto station and upon arrival at rhe entrance, there was.a guest officer to help us unload and wheel in our luggage to the check in lobby. Throughout our stay whenever we stepped into or walked by the guests officers, they would greet us and acknowledge us. Despite the language barrier, I was especially touched by the sincere efforts of one of your male guests officer who wore glasses. I had intially wanted to visit Mount Aso but did not know how to go there using public bus. So one one evening I walked to the guest relations desk and stated my intentions and request for more info. I could tell the officer had difficulty trying to communicate in English but he was trying very hard to get the information across. Throughout our stay were given maps and shown by pen and drawings whenever we had questions to a location ie ramen restaurant while waiting for check in, where to shop for sneakers etc I really appreciated the hospitality and guidance despite the language barrier. We hope to be back in future and keep up the good work! I hope the nikko mgmt team can transfer this consistency to your other chains ie( nikko huis ten bosch which clearly lacks such direction ). I really hope when ever I'm in japan I can go back to a nikko

The Western-style room had a good view with a golf course and a plateau overlooking the magnificent Mt. Aso Outer Ring. The room was comfortable with a sofa, chairs and tables and two semi-double beds. Actually, it was a large bath in a golf resort, so I didn't expect much bath. However, the hot springs were hanging from the source, and both the indoor bath and the four open-air baths (including the barrel bath 2) were all hanging from the source, and it was a good hot spring with a little brown hot spring. I checked out at 11 o'clock, but I was a little disappointed that the bath was until 9 am. The meal was a Japanese and Western appetizer, a cooking and a hot bowl at the restaurant. In the second half, the dinner was good with soft Kumamoto beef and seafood grilled on a ceramic plate, high-vegetable rice and miso soup, and delicious desserts. Also, the dining staff was kind and polite. Breakfast was a volume breakfast, probably because of a golf resort. After checking out, if you are trying to take a picture with Kumamon in the lobby, the staff will carry a large Kumamon to the outside by cart, saying that you should take a picture in a good place with a good view of Mt. Outer Ring in Aso. It was done. Thanks to you, I was able to take a nice family photo with Aso no Yama 々 and Kumamon. I was very happy with the kind consideration.

I went to Silver Week. There were also guests unexpectedly. The night meal in the morning was good with many kinds. The horse stab I asked for additional was especially good ♪ The hot springs are good and conquered all the bathtubs! I was soaked for a long time, but it was a good hot water without hot water ‼︎ However, I wanted the temperature of hot water to be a little higher.

We stayed for one night from July 9 (Sat) and stayed with a couple in the Japanese style room ”Nikwa” on the third floor. The purpose of this time was to touch the nature of ASO and to feel the liberation and to soak in a hot spring with good quality of springs. The room was more modern and sophisticated than I thought and more than expected. It was a room that was renewed last year. What I was worried about was that the closet was an old Japanese house, and it smelled mold without lighting, and the mattress on the bed was a little too hard, and the view was not good even on the third floor. The bath was a pure source hanging water, which did not heating, water or circulation, and the hot water temperature was just right, and it was a very good quality hot spring as rumored. However, the size is small and there is no open-air bath. I also used ”taruyu” in the rental bath, but it was well maintained and very comfortable. The meal was ”red beef steak seat”. There were many items and all were very delicious, but I thought that the red beef of the heart was a little fat and the mountain woman fish was quite small. The service was made to be a woman from Nepal, but there were several points that I was worried about, such as vertically distributing rectangular dishes of incense. I think this is a problem of staff training. Overall, it is a very old established inn with a very historical style, and it is well understood that it is carefully maintained, and it is thought that it is a hot spring inn with a taste. I felt that the charm of this inn was exhausted by the word ”good quality hot spring”.

Stayed here for 1 night, I personally really love dinner and breakfast buffet, variety of choices especially local beef and sashimi. Hotel also provides private Onzen for proviate use and gaming room. but its location is quite far from Train station, it is more convenient by driving a car and park at hotel. Room price is reasonable and the room is also clean and tidy. I definitely will stay here again if I visit Aso next time.

The homestay is in a literary hall. A large complex. The room is two suites. They have bathrooms and baths. The room also has indoor and outdoor pools. The room is very comfortable. The store provides extra breakfast and dinner. Dinner is a rich Chinese food. It is a rare worker to eat Chinese food. The staff are very enthusiastic and most of the staff can speak Chinese. If you want to ask in advance, you can call and contact the staff in advance to communicate with WeChat. We played a ball in Asu. The staff asked us about several stadiums in order to find the right time. Thank you very much.

We only interrupted you with the day trip rental bath. ２ name ４５ minutes ２０００ yen. Other inns were able to use it in the evening while ３ sometimes closed the day trip rental bath. However, since the rental bath on the day trip cannot be booked, you can put it if you are empty. The usual inner bath can be made without reservation. The dressing room of the rental bath is equipped with cleaning oil to emulsion, and it is put in the hand. I brought a towel, but there seems to be a rental or sale. It is a inn where the feeling that it seems to be a lady general is very polite, and the feeling that the building is also maintained is transmitted, and I wanted to use it even in the accommodation. The parking lot is not available for day trips, so I parked in a nearby joint free parking lot.

We are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan. If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

Very wonderful! I would have said that this villa was perfect, but unfortunately, the hot plate listed as a facility was nowhere to be found. Even though the cold water valve was turned off, the hot spring suddenly turned cold twice, and it was difficult to understand whether it was set to change to cold water at a certain time or not, as there were no details in the room guide. If there is a time setting, it would be helpful if it was written in the room guide. When I tried to get into the hot spring, I was surprised at how cold the bathtub was. And if check-out was at least 11:00, it would have been even more perfect! Even so, I would still like to stay for multiple nights next time. Thank you very much.

I was traveling by car, and I already felt so beautiful when I arrived in front of the hotel. When you enter the hotel, the check-in attendant will ask you to put down your luggage first, and then provide you with a delicious cup of green tea and chocolate to relax you immediately! Although the waiter does not speak English, it does not hinder everyone's communication. The waiter knows how to use the phone translation software and is worthy of praise. There was a real buzzing sound when entering the room. ❤️❤️❤️ It’s so new, so clean, and so comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and have a private hot spring pool. I'm really happy. Dining is not included when booking a room, and the waiters will introduce nearby restaurants. Because I checked in for two days, I asked the waiter if I could order dinner and breakfast for the second day? Finally successfully booked. Dinner was a very exquisite kaiseki meal, the food was very good👍🏼and the portions were sufficient. The second breakfast was delicious. This hotel is really worth recommending If I have the chance, I will book this hotel again🏨

It is a place where you can feel the taste of a simple countryside.. Japanese seem to be the main customers.. The owner is poor in English, but he sincerely responds.. The meal is Japanese style.. The bee meat sashimi is impressive for dinner.. Songying service is available.. At night, you can see fireflies in the rice field in front of you.. Environmentally friendly place.. Before entering, it would be nice to buy beer at Hakatana Tenjin ... Beer is served in a cold glass for dinner, so it is recommended together~

We stayed for 2 nights in December 2019. The room has a bath, and the sulfur smell is a source hanging water that seems to be very effective, with the flowers of the fragrance hot water. I entered the hot spring many times during my stay, but my shoulders and back became lighter and I realized the effect. I think it is a great hot water. The room is not large, but the ceiling is high and there is no feeling of pressure. The interior was rural and did not match their hobby, but I was able to spend comfortably. The hot spring was great and the room was comfortable, so the service was outstanding. Overall, I felt that the staff was not working to meet the needs of the guests, and that it was an operation importance to turn efficiently. If guests stay at this inn, they need to match a considerable part of the inn side. I think there is no way to be a lower price range inn, but if you ask for this price, you should provide such services according to the needs of more guests. If you maintain the price now, I think you should increase the number of employees and make a fine service or lower the price if you are a service now. I was worried about the following points. • I arrived 30 minutes before check-in. At that time, check-in was from 15 o'clock, so I was told that I was not given an option and was driven out. I knew later, but there were only three guests on that day, and the cleaning staff said that they were finished until the final inspection of the room by 12 o'clock every day. Then, I was happy to have considerations such as waiting in the lobby at least. • The accommodation procedure is performed by guests. I think it is rare in this price range inn. It's a small thing, but I'm worried. • The explanation of how to use the room was also insufficient. It's dangerous if you don't explain the caution because you use a gas stove. • Dinner is 18:00 or 18:30. There is no other choice. It was too early for us. • The dinner course was delicious with beef from Kumamoto Prefecture. I felt that it was not suitable for the price of 12000 yen per person. The chef was also like one person, and it was an efficiency-oriented menu. • There are already appetizers before you arrive at the table of meals. I was careful not to dust off my jacket. • Breakfast is also a choice of 8:00 or 8:30. The most surprising thing was that I wanted 8:30, but around 8:05, I called to prepare breakfast. The open-air bath in the room was not a hot spring, but it was good to have a feeling of openness. Wine, beer, tea, water, etc. were prepared in the refrigerator and all-you-can-drink. For the meal, I went to the dining hall and had a kaiseki meal. The meat and rice were delicious, but I was a little disappointed because there was no gorgeousness like New Year. Also, there was no explanation at the dining hall, so I knew that there was a drink corner after finishing the meal ... It may be unavoidable because I was looking busy, but there was no explanation of the food. ○ I was disappointed with the meal even though I gave 100,000. Nature has no souvenir shops, games, karaoke, etc., so the hall is quiet and nice. If you go to Hizenya on foot (there was also a shuttle bus), you can enjoy bowling and a large communal bath. The reception staff was very good.

It doesn't have the power of Nabegataki in the same small country, but it's definitely a little-known spot. As expected, it was cold and I walked back to the inn for an hour. It was as magnificent as the open-air bath of Gajoen in Myoken Onsen and Gekkouju in Kurokawa Onsen. It was cold though. The quality of the hot springs was generally good!
