4-Star Hotels in Salzburg State, Austria

We only stayed here for one night on our way to St. Wolfgang and Hallstatt. We picked this place because it's super close to both the train and bus stations, plus the price was really reasonable. When we checked in later in the evening, we met this friendly receptionist from Germany, but we didn't catch his name. The room was spotless, with a nice clean bathroom, air conditioning, and a kettle. The only downside was no fridge in the room, but they said we could use the one at the front desk if we needed. Breakfast on the 6th floor was awesome with great views of the mountains. Overall, this hotel was perfect for our quick stay, and we'd definitely choose it again next time we're in Salzburg.

Cocoon Salzburg - 10-13 July 2022 done both not all pix only the room This hotel is almost right across from the train station, on a corner, very easy to find - white 7 story building with a big butterfly outline on the glass doors. Inside the lobby is part of the bar and breakfast room. Checkin is super friendly. Room is small but wins the cuteness prize. Carpeting and walls in hallway all green with small leafy patterns like in a jungle. Bed is firm and very comfy, bedding is an interesting weave feeling like soft cotton paper, and 4 big fluffy pillows. No amenities in room such as phone, electric kettle or coffee makers, or even a small fridge. Has safe however. The hanging rattan chair is cute but takes up some room. Day couch by the window, no tables, night stands or desk - or chair for that matter (no room anyway). The most minimal amount of furniture, the idea I guess is all about lounging around so you don't ever need to sit up anywhere. Not much surface to layout stuff just a sort of narrow shelving on the wall next to the TV. Bathroom also tiny but everything is new and modern and the rain shower is the best ever. Takes a bit of maneuvering to get our two large suitcases settled. We are on the 6th floor so have a bit of view of mountains over the top of a building across the street. Windows have electrically controlled shutters outside (push button inside). You get a nice bar of chocolate and 5 euros for opting out housekeeping (although they said something about not continuing this practice). Floor uncarpeted. Aircon good. Wifi seems pretty fast. Nightlight under the bed is motion sensitive, so it comes on whenever you are moving around the room. Breakfast is good with scrambled and pre shaped fried eggs, sausage and bacon-like ham. Good selection of pastries and croissants and breads. Half dozen different kinds of tea all loose so need to scoop into a teabag in order to steep which is interesting and pretty fancy. Selection of cold meats as well and cheese. Tomato, cucumber and fruit. They don't check to see if you have breakfast included which is strange because it's extra charge for breakfast so not automatically included in all rooms. Overall a pretty good breakfast and food gets replenished pretty quickly. Seating tends to run out at peak time and people will ask to share your table if there is room.

This is a really nice hotel just beside the train station and across the street from the main bus lines that take you everywhere in the City. The room was excellent with a free mini-bar and other nice amenities. It is definitely worth spending more for the higher floor as the view is spectacular. Lot's of mountains on one side and rolling countryside on the other. The staff were all good, check-in and check-out was easy and the breakfast in the morning was tasty with lots of variety. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel location is little away but you can always walk down to the river in 15 min. i did not like the room decor. It was too dark. The hotel room was small. Bathroom had only one gel type. Hotel is good for single day stay.

We have booked a room through the IHG website for our visit on the nights of 2 and 3 October, and requested a room with two single rooms. Hotel replied that unfortunately no rooms with two single beds were available for our stay. A few minutes later I checked Agoda and a room with two single beds was available for the nights of 2 and 3 October so I booked it. Now sitting with two bookings - one for a king room thru IHG and one room through Agoda for two single beds. Emailed front desk to ask why I cannot have the room with two single beds under my IHG booking if I first cancelled my Agoda booking and received the reply that they could see my two bookings in the reservation system, but that they do not have any twin bed rooms so they cannot give me a twin bed room even though I already have the booking for a two room under Agoda. Can either Corinna in Guest Relations or Florian the GM please check my bookings and advise how I can get the twin bed room under my long standing direct IHG booking if I cancel the Agoda booking? This is a forward looking trip advisor comment and request. I had to rate the service average to get this posted to generate a response from the hotel and look forward to favourable resolution of this problem and a lovely stay at the hotel in a room with twin beds in October.

I have nothing but accolades for this hotel. 1) location - walk from the hotel to most everything you want to go to (yes, it may be about a mile, but you’re on vacation, and you could do with a little exercise, couldn’t you). 2) Konstantina - at check in - welcomed us with humor, practical advice. and kindness 3) rooms were gigantic by European standards, and clean 4) the fitness center is fantastic

We stayed at the Mayburg in mid-September 2024, The common areas are certainly clean, and the staff are helpful, friendly and accommodating. Our booking did not include breakfast, and these are priced at €22-25 per sitting and are not worth the expense. Aside from the useful cold dishes and cereals, the ‘hotplate’ option delivers scrambled eggs and bacon bits that are lukewarm at best. The bar is reasonably priced and the coffee is also very good. The room we had (117) got cold at night and we asked for a blanket or extra duvet, wich we received eventually but we also had to ask for tea and coffee supplies. There was no proper kettle in the room, just an expresso machine that trickled tepid water into the morning teacups. There was very little room housekeeping done. The bins were emptied, and perhaps a dry mop was drawn across the floor, but little else done apart from a daily change of towels. Sleep quality was good because the hotel is very quiet. The shower was hot and efficient; the TV very large with all the usual Euro channels.

Booked a big bed room, gave a suite, and both children were enough! Because the next day I had to catch the early train, I didn’t have breakfast. The restaurant of the same name downstairs in the hotel is very good, and the things that are done are delicious. 5 minutes walk from the train station The hotel entrance is relatively clean, there are subway and shopping malls and small supermarkets within 5 minutes. There is also a convenience store at the gas station.

However, I would say the experience was much below expectations. Pros 1. Very close to Salzburg train station. It is about 2kms from the station 2. Bus stops are right opposite of hotel so ease of public transport 3. Walking distance to Mirabell Palace and Mozartplatz (main tourist attractions) 4. Several Indian restaurants within walking distance from hotel. 5. I was given a large room so it was good from family point of view 6. Room, bathroom was clean, nice bed, clean bed linen and towels etc 7. Staff at FD was efficient and solved most of our issues quickly. Cons 1. When we checked into room, we noticed that not even electric kettle, tea, coffee was provided in the room. It was provided only after brought into the notice of the front desk. 2. Intercom in the room was not working, so every time you have to go to the FD to inform 3. The room has a very small window at shoulder level, which was quite odd. 4. Salzberg was quite warm during our stay and AC was not working in the room. 5. Breakfast spread was small considering this was a 4 star hotel. 6. The bathroom has peculiar design & it was quite awkward for our Indian sensibilities, that shower enclosure was in glass open to view from all sides from the room. Such arrangement is not suitable if you have older children staying in the same room. We had our 10y old with us and we had to finish our shower before she would wake up. I would rather avoid this hotel in future!!

It is a 10-minute walk from Salzburg Central Station, and even on rainy days you can walk about 70% of the way from the station under the gate, so you hardly get wet. You can also walk to the old town. The room was clean and had a bathtub, which is rare in Europe. Salzburg Central Station and the train tracks are right in front of the hotel, and it was fun just watching the trains from the window. Despite the train tracks right in front of me, I was able to sleep very quietly at night. There is also a refrigerator and air conditioning. There were two free drinks, sparkling wine and regular water. The staff were also friendly and nice. This hotel is recommended for sightseeing in Salzburg.

Beautiful, classic, old fashioned (the good kind)! - such a lovely getaway! We had a standard hotel room, large in size, a very comfortable bed and just all good. The breakfast was great, well stocked with everyhting our heart desired. The location, the mountains and the lakes and the easy parking etc. Makes the stay even better. One thing we missed was a lighter food option. With a smaller child, the heavy Austrian options were not a hit, and the bar-menu was fun one night, but not every night, so we had to leave the premisses to get something lighter/child friendly/“faster”.

2 large and 2 small rooms for 3 people. The hotel is really great, very Austrian countryside. The continental breakfast is very rich, with a variety of delicious, especially bread, with many items and everything is delicious. The children ate the most in Europe this time. On the night of check-in, I unexpectedly encountered the monster parade before Christmas. It was a very interesting experience. Diagonally opposite is a Christmas market, the food is also very delicious, the locals recommend an orange juice flavored cocktail, which is amazing, even if it is alcoholic, it does not taste alcohol at all

Great location - 10 mins into Salzberg but a complete oasis away from it all! The hotel is stunning, with fantastic facilities. The pools / saunas / relaxing areas with honesty bars are all very comfortable , cool and beautifully maintained. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and a big mention to the endless supplies of perfectly boiled eggs . Extra friendly and helpful staff.. Highly recommendable; we cant wait to come back. Thank you so much :)

My experience at the Jacob hotel was nothing short of perfect. The staff was friendly, and professional, the owner who was very welcoming and helpful in showing the best bike routes. The room is modern and with more than enough space (very cute the bike helmet holder on the wall). Breakfast served from 7 am includes a rich buffet with different types of milk and local produce. Dined at the hotel restaurant twice, including one in the lovely hotel garden, and were very satisfied with the menu and drinks. Bike service is on another level, with a mechanic available to support your setup needs. The rate includes free access to a 25m heated pool with a weekly lesson. Complimentary electric car charging. The beach on the lake is convenient and the scenery is unique. We will be back, definitely

I was there for originally two nights - super friendly staff, total relaxed atmosphere, parking outside the door, bus connection around the corner and super clean rooms with bathroom for the wellness. The wellness offer was also exactly right to relax, but it started for me already at breakfast, which could be taken in a superbly bright area, even extended by a small winter garden. From time limits no trace, you could drink his 2nd cup of coffee or tea still in a quiet way, even though the official breakfast time was over. Because it was so bad, I booked one night on site for it and thank you again for the beautiful stay. It's always liked. It's rarely been taken up as lovely as you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Travelled with our 11 month old for a weekend break in Salzburg. Hotel is a very short drive out of Salzburg, had no trouble driving in, and offers free parking. Rooms were clean and bright, with plenty of space for our baby bed, plus a nice balcony with mountain view. We had a room with a window into the shower room, I think it's the first time in my life I've had a shower with such a beautiful view! Check in and out was friendly and professional, lots of info given and happy to help with any queries. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, food was delicious and there was plenty of it! Service also good and happy to accommodate our daughter and her constant waving and smiling at everyone! Breakfast also great, again, the staff were friendly and accommodating, food was delicious, plenty of options, the home made jams were really good and our daughter loved the scrambled egg. We absolutely loved our stay, nothing to fault, and we would love to return again.

My husband and I were just passing through the area, and needed somewhere to stay the night after a long drive south from Holland. The Schlosswirt is just off the motorway, with convenient parking. Our double room was an absolute picture, combining antique furniture with modern technology and other fittings designed to provide comfort. Another highlight was our evening meal (including a memorable Tafelspitz and great Austrian wines). Charming breakfast too. Very friendly staff throughout the establishment, and the whole bill good value for money. Convenient situation for a walk in the village and the surrounding countryside (we saw traces of beavers, plus Karajan's grave!). Sadly we had to move on after one night, but we would love to come and stay again. Thank you, Schlosswirt and Schlosswirtin!

A fantastic hot spring resort with the backdrop of the Alps that can only be booked for one night during the week. Before check-in, you can use the water facilities except for the hotel-only hot spring facilities. The changing room in the basement of the hotel is shared between men and women, so you may be disappointed if you change clothes in front of the locker. It is called a hot spring, but you can think of it as a warm water swimming pool (it smells like bleach), and there is a nude zone, so be careful. There are many beach chairs, so there are plenty of places to rest, and the staff are very friendly. This is the place where the staff was the friendliest during my trip. The minibar in the room is free, the dinner buffet including the course was delicious, and there was a juicer here, which was nice. Seats are reserved for dinner and breakfast, and there is a reservation name card on the table. They give you a small herbal salt as a souvenir when you check out, and these kind of small services make you feel good. The lobby is on the hill about 2nd floor, so I unloaded my luggage and parked for free in the outdoor parking lot below, but later I found out that there is a parking lot accessible by elevator at the bottom of the building. If you are going, please take note..

So, if you are looking for a budget hotel ..stop reading. This is “erste Klasse“, you pay and will get everything you need. The hotel is very modern, not at a traditional Austrian hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The every day cleaning is flawless. The breakfast is very.. I say very good… if you have included spa in your stay, you will enjoy something special… there different saunas.. spacious areas to relax… if you want to take a swim.. the hotel has two … indoor and outdoor.. it’s up to you… Why I love this hotel is that the service is great and the atmosphere is .. well it’s really relaxing.. you don’t get the feeling of that you are staying at a railway station.. if you get the feeling….but the downside is that you have to pay for this … well you only live once…

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The property was spotless and beautifully modern, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere . The food was absolutely incredible – every meal was a treat, with a wide variety of delicious options. The staff were exceptional: friendly, attentive, and always happy to help . Their professionalism and warmth made my stay even more enjoyable. The location couldn't be better, It’s just a 5-minute walk to the City Express lift, making access to the slopes incredibly convenient. Plus, being right in the centre of town, close to all the shops, restaurants, and other attractions. The hotel also has a wonderful spa area, including a sauna and steam room, which was great after a long day on the slopes. It was the perfect place to relax. One of my favorite spots was the lovely, cosy, and relaxing bar area. It had a warm ambiance and was ideal for unwinding with a drink. Overall, this hotel offers the perfect combination of cleanliness, style, fantastic food, a charming bar, a luxurious spa, and an unbeatable location. I would highly recommend it.

I have a complaint. Yesterday, I came to breakfast according to my reservation at the hotel. I did not find a table and I did not find anyone to receive me. So I went to a table where there was no one. I sat down to eat breakfast. I was surprised that the waiter asked me to leave the table in front of everyone, which embarrassed me in front of everyone present and put me at a far table. About the people, and I had to talk to the manager Marco to solve my problem. First, he refused to shake my hand. He showed me the guest list and that I was at the bottom of the list and did not deserve to be in view. He told me that he would reserve a table for me for tomorrow, but when I arrived today, I did not find my room number on any table nor anyone to guide me. Where is the professionalism in this dealing? And the manager tells me that I am at the bottom of the list and I do not deserve your good place!!! لا انصح ب الفندق من سوء الإدارة و سوء التعامل موظفين المطعم إذا حجزت لا تحجز بفطور عنصريه تعامل سيء جدا من اسوء تعامل في الفنادق الي زرتها موقعه جميل ولكن إدارة سيئه
