We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Beppu and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The location is absolutely ideal — centrally situated and within easy reach of popular attractions like Beppu Station, the hot spring districts, and local dining spots. Whether you’re exploring the “hells” of Beppu or heading to nearby onsens, everything is just a short drive or walk away.
The room was perfect for our group of three. It was spacious, well-designed, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The beds and futons were very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was cozy and quiet — great for resting after a long day of sightseeing. We appreciated the thoughtful touches like extra towels, slippers, and good quality toiletries.
One of the biggest highlights was the bathroom. Ours had a large window overlooking the city and surrounding hills — soaking in the tub while enjoying the view was a real treat and added a luxurious touch to the stay.
I stayed at the hotel with a plan that included meals. The semi-private room gave me a sense of privacy, and the food was delicious and I was very satisfied, but I would have been more satisfied if they had provided a little more service, such as drinks and food that I couldn't eat. The rooms were spacious and had a free-flowing hot spring, which left my skin feeling smooth and allowed me to relax in nature.

It’s an above and beyond hot spring hotel designed by Japanese well known architect. The design is outstanding, peaceful and stylish, especially love the firefly lamp inside the room.
Served by professional staff who carry friendly smiles, delicious traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. I was attracted by KOLs to try the beef rice in the shopping street. It took me an hour in the queue, but then I found out the even better beef rice was already tasted at hotel dinner.
Enjoy staff-led morning exercise and DIY handmade workshop.
I did even enjoy solo outdoor hot spring under snowing. What a perfect stay at Kai Yufuin

very happy to have booked this hotel. very well located hotel, walkable fr yufuin station. breakfast and dinner every day was very nice, some days better than others but excellent nonetheless. place is a little old but is well kept. room is also rather large and we had the mountain view which was amazing. hotel onsen water can be a little too hot, so sensitive ppl do be careful. will come again.
It is really a treasure hotel, a traditional Japanese hot spring hotel, not big, small but exquisite, realizing the desire of soaking in hot springs in nature. The scenery outside the hot spring is different in four seasons, and it is more beautiful in winter or cherry blossom season. Dinner is kaiseki cuisine in the room, and breakfast is a bit bland. I especially want to praise the waiter in the dinner room, which is really a true Japanese service. The waiter who sent us to the car after checking out the next day, two young ladies carried our luggage and trotted all the way on the mountain road. It's a pity that we only booked one day, and it's so tight in the off-season. It's worth coming again for this hotel.

This onsen hotel look rather old and tired from the outside, but besides that, everything about it exceeded my expectations.
Location is just about a 6-7 minutes' walk from the train station. We stayed in the Japanese style room, which was clean, fairly spacious and overlooking the mountains.
Onsen was good with both indoor and outdoor pools on the ground floor and first floor, swapping between males and females at allocated hours.
As for the dinner, it was simply awesome! It was the standard buffet eat and drink all you can type, except it was not so standard with the standard food and the usual house pour.
Dinner was widespread and high-quality stuff (graded wagyu steak) and a selection of whisky and premium beer lager. (Beer not the usual plastic cups BUT BY THE BOTTLES!) It was no surprise that queues start forming at 5.30pm even though dinner officially only start at 6.
So, if Sansuikan is your pick, make sure you make a reservation with dinner.
Large hotel with professional service, but the room space is average and it is a bit cramped for a family of four. There is a pedestrian street near the hotel, so eating and shopping are no problem. There are plenty of parking spaces, which is great for self-driving tours.
The lobby and rooms were clean, the staff were professional, and I had a pleasant stay. There was a vacancy, so I was upgraded from my original room. It was reasonable, but the quality of the experience was more than worth the price.
One thing was that when I tried to use the humidifier, the filter inside was not very clean, so I didn't use it, but other than that it was a very good experience.

I recently stayed at a hotel booked through Trip.com, and while the location, cleanliness, and facilities were quite nice, I had a very disappointing experience with the service provided by the hotel staff.
When I booked the hotel, the description on Trip.com (in Korean) clearly indicated that the room would have two beds and two floor beds. However, upon arrival, we found that the room only had two beds and one floor bed. When I brought this discrepancy to the attention of the hotel staff, they informed me that we would need to pay extra for an additional floor bed. They explained that the description in the itinerary merely indicated the maximum capacity of the room and that, since we had booked meals for only three people (breakfast and dinner), we could not receive an extra floor bed at no charge. I opted for the three-person meal plan because one of my family members is a five-year-old child who does not eat much, and I wanted to avoid unnecessary food waste.
I understand that interpretations of the itinerary may vary, but the attitude of the hotel staff was unacceptable. During my communication with them, I was put on hold for five minutes, only to be told that there was nothing they could do. After urging them to adhere to the terms of the itinerary, I was placed on hold again for ten minutes. Unfortunately, I had to hang up as it was time for dinner, and the hotel did not follow up with any response after I returned.
This experience significantly affected my family's mood, and what was supposed to be a pleasant stay turned into a frustrating ordeal. I hope that Trip.com can address this issue to prevent future guests from having similar experiences.
Located right on top of a hill.
Seaview is pretty far from hotel room... Thus nothing much to see anyway.
As the Onsen is actually a bathtub attached to the inroom shower, the sulphur smell is very strong alike rotten eggs.
Stayed for one night and is a good experience.

Amazing
AAnonymous UserExcellent experience!!
The 2 storey house included living room, bedroom, 2 restrooms, balcony and private onsen! The view from onsen is incredible!
Kaiseki dinner was served at the main building in a private room. The whole main meal and beverage were in high quality. Breakfast on the next day morning was good too.
Staffs were helpful and polite. Free taxi round trip from JR station to the hotel. And just 8 min walk from the Kinrin Lake which is prefect for getting up early for the morning mist.
GGuest UserYou can see the sunrise from the room, and the private hot spring in the room is great and comfortable. There are activities and a lot of free food in the hotel in the evening, and the hotel employees are also very generous with gifts. Two meals per stay, breakfast and dinner are also in the hotel. The lobster sashimi for dinner is delicious and the service staff is very good. After dinner, they gave us a special anniversary gift, which was very heartwarming. Highly recommend this relaxing hotel.

贝贝贝贝The staff is very responsible, serious and enthusiastic
All kinds of details are well controlled, from the check-in lead to the last departure, the same staff is responsible for our stay
The room has a private soup, and I also went to the public soup outside. The designs are very relaxing.
One berth and two meals, the food standard is very high, the meal is in a special dining area, the room has two floors, the tatami can be laid upstairs, there are also two single beds, quiet and quiet
It takes 15 minutes to walk to the station, and it is easy to arrive with luggage. There is a car to leave.
3 minutes walk from Jinlin Lake
KKwok ChungThe hotel is situated 15 minutes taxi ride from the Beppu station. So we have nowhere to go that night. But it's good enough to have hotspring and drinks in the hotel. The staff is very polite and can explain what you can do in English. Then you were lead to the room and tips rejected.
We booked the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The dinner time is either 6pm or 6:30pm and the breakfast time 8am or 8:30. The dinner is good but maybe my expectation is quite high, it didn't reach my expectation, especially for the sashimi.
For the onsen, there are 4 private onsens and 2 public. One of the private onsens is closed. Therefore we can use 3. You can use the private onsen when it is not occupied. Just lock the door and turn the plate to the other side. But all the onsen are closed by 12 midnight. And there is a room with free flow beer and soda, but it closes at 10pm. Don't drink beer before taking hotspring.
There is also an onsen in our room which can be used anytime. It's hot at night but not so hot in the next morning. Overall, the view is good. The staff is good. The food is good (just not so great) and the onsens are good. Beppu is a good place to stay a few days more

GGuest UserExquisite accommodation - service, food and onsen. The room size is very spacious, with separate living room and bedroom. Onsen environment was fantastic, with choice for both shared with other Ryokan guests and for private use (1st come 1st serve basis). My family was very delighted with all the breakfasts and dinners, and each meal is always a surprise to our palate without disappointment. However, on the 2nd day we were ushered into a room that was next to their service pantry. It was noisy and the spotlight in that dining room was too hot despite the cold weather. This was the only area that marred the enjoyment. There was happy hour in the evening, and complimentary self-service bar was enjoyed by all guests. Baien is framed by a beautiful scenery but you would need a car as the location is not too near town area. Great base to venture to other areas of interest and return to each day for zen relaxation.
DDayiI stayed overnight to watch a soccer game.
It took about 10 minutes to get there from Oita Station.
Check-in was smooth, and there was a fitness center and a bath on the 4th floor, but it was a little small.
The breakfast buffet had a good variety and was delicious.
