It’s a very charming place with a real wabi-sabi atmosphere - simple, quiet, and full of nostalgic beauty. Quite old-fashioned, but well maintained. This spot became popular on a Russian platform, so there are many tourists from Russia ( me as well) . When I visited the onsen, there were seven people in total - all Russian girls. Overall, it doesn’t stop you from having a great rest. However, it’s not really suitable for a honeymoon, as my husband and I were separated the whole time — there are no mixed onsens for men and women, probably because the place is now mostly visited by foreigners.
When we checked out, they kindly drove us back to the station. I left with a complete sense of relaxation. Thank you!
This establishment is situated on the outskirts of Gotenba, a location we selected due to having a car. Navigating to this spot via public transportation might prove somewhat difficult. While there is a convenience store nearby, other walkable amenities in the immediate vicinity are limited. The hotel provides both indoor and outdoor public onsen facilities. Additionally, a foot bath offering views of Mount Fuji is available on the top floor. Guests can also enjoy ramen or soba as a complimentary midnight snack. The rooms were clean; however, some lime residue was observed on the bathroom door, which could suggest an oversight in the cleaning process.
We only stayed one night, but it was an incredible experience - everything from the caring service to the traditional style of room to the thoughtful osen setup! All five star! The staff spoke limited English but it was very smooth and easy to use translation software. We chose to have breakfast there and it was delightful - so many little dishes and all served in our room and we even dressed up in traditional attire for it, provided by the ryokan. It’s very easy to get a taxi from Izu Kogen and it was easy for us to order an uber in the evening for dinner if you don’t want to go full out for what the ryokan provides - so it’s friendly enough if you aren’t driving. The individual osen pools were so chill - could have sat there for hours! High recommend this place if you want a piece of real Japanese culture!
This hotel is perfectly located right by the sea, offering a fantastic environment. Transportation is also quite convenient, with a shuttle bus running between the hotel and Kawazu Station. The breakfast was just okay. If you plan to have dinner, it's definitely best to book in advance. We didn't make a reservation this time and ended up being turned away by both restaurants because they were full. There was nowhere else to eat nearby, so we had to resort to instant noodles.
The facilities were all great, but it was a bit of a shame that there were time restrictions. We arrived late in the evening and most of the drinks were gone, plus there was no comb provided in the room.
It was love from the first sight. Lovely and silent place that what you need after all the hustle and bustle of big cities. Hot springs are relaxing and food is delicious. Wish had more days there.
Big thanks to all the staff who created such atmosphere
This Dormy Inn hotel maintains its signature style. There are seven private onsen on the 4th floor, and a public bath on the top floor, making for a truly wonderful hot spring experience. Both dinner and breakfast are served buffet-style, with a good variety of food that is refilled promptly. In the evenings, there's complimentary ramen, and after a soak, free cold drinks. In the mornings, you can enjoy free Yakult. The service and staff attitude are also excellent. Getting to the hotel from Shuzenji Station is easy on bus C10, or if you have a lot of luggage, a taxi will cost under 1500 JPY. It's definitely worth staying for two days to relax and enjoy the hot springs.
Probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in Japan, close to Atami station, and every room in this hotel has the sea view, which is extremely beautiful when it’s sunny. The rooms are spacious and very very clean, the private onsen has private TV for you to relax in the hot bath. They also have public open air onsen on the top floor. Next time I probably will try the room with private onsen on the balcony. The hotel also offers free gym, free minibar and free lounge, love it. And the most importantly, the hotel staff are very helpful and polite. They provided helpful advices on transportation to different sightseeing places and booked free shuttle for my family to Atami station. Will 100% revisit next time I come to Atami.
This place is located at Izu-Ōkawa Station, which is a bit off the beaten path for a transport hub in the East Izu area. The hotel offers a shuttle service, which you can book in advance via email or phone. The front desk has a ********* lady who speaks Chinese and is very helpful, answering any questions you might have. The food is quite good, and there are two large outdoor private onsens where you can see stars on a clear night. However, if you want to see a lot of stars, you should head to Ōshima or a nearby island. The room size is standard; in Japanese-style rooms, staff will lay out futons as there are no beds. The tatami mats are very new and have that unique new tatami smell. The private onsen in the room is also nice for a soak. If you're interested, there's also a wild hot spring by the sea – just Google it. You'll find a Lawson convenience store a short walk along the coastline. Overall, apart from the slightly remote location, there aren't any major drawbacks.
Waking up to see the Mount Fuji from the room is the highlight. Hot spring is also available in the room. The hotel rooms are spacious and located over the hillside - the most convenient way to commute between buildings are via car/ shuttle bus; walking may take much longer. Lights in the room are a bit too dim to us. Limited amenities are available, with no toothbrush/ toothpaste in room. Futons are available, but self-serve.
Access to Laforet and Izu Marriott public hot springs is available. Unfortunately towels are not available in the public bath of Laforet - towels need to brought from hotel room.
Standard dinner / breakfast buffets are available.
GGuest UserWe stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday trip.
He became ill on the way to the hotel, so they quickly changed our dinner to in-room dining.
We also requested a surprise cake, and they took his condition into consideration and served it with breakfast the next morning, which was a great help.
We were truly moved by the staff's courteous and warm service, as well as their attentive attention to detail.
Thank you again for your flexibility in accommodating our irregular request.
This is a hotel I've always admired, so I was very happy to have stayed here.
We will definitely stay again. Thank you.
GGuest UserA very special experience, family hotel, tatami room, hot spring, meals are all available, very clean, warm service can also provide station pick-up. Although dinner was not booked in advance, the store still prepared it carefully. The location is a bit biased, but the lake view is outside the window. It may not be the peak tourist season now, and there are fewer shops for fewer tourists around.
