Location can't be beat; it was very convenient to take the A11 bus from the airport which stops right in front of the hotel. Causeway Bay is just a few minutes away. However, like other reviews have said, the hotel is very dated and tired. My room reeked of cigarette smell and there was never an answer from the front desk or duty manager. When I finally got a hold of someone, they sent a staff member with an aerosol can to spray some floral scented spray but that was not going to do anything but mask the smell. No air purifiers offered and was told the hotel was fully booked so I couldn't change rooms.
The room itself was very spacious but I was not confident in the cleanliness of the room due to finding cigarette ash and dust and hair throughout.
A housekeeping staff member entered my room within 5 seconds of knocking at 8am on the second morning asking about the TV working even though I had not requested anything.
I bet the hotel was very lovely in the 90s but today it is clearly struggling to maintain its grandeur. I think if you are considering this hotel you should manage your expectations and if you don't mind older facilities and limited customer service, it may still be worth the convenience of the location and room size. I probably would not choose to come back without an extensive renovation.

I stayed at the Harbour Plaza Metropolis during my trip to Hong Kong. Although I booked a bit late and the price was a bit high, the 25-square-meter room was still quite good. I could see Victoria Harbour, and the view was decent. Breakfast was also quite rich. The only problem was the air conditioning; it was too noisy, and the temperature couldn't be adjusted once it was on. It got quite cold, but the comforter was very thin. When I turned the AC off, the humidity rose, making the room stuffy, and there was also a sewage smell coming from the bathroom.

My stay at the Regal Hotel exceeded expectations. The room was well-maintained, the bedding was comfortable, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. I especially loved the hotel's pool and gym, which offered great views. The breakfast selection was rich, with plenty of Chinese and Western options. The front desk staff could communicate in Mandarin and proactively offered transport advice. Although it's not in the city center, there's a bus terminal right downstairs, making it very convenient to get to the airport and downtown. It's quiet and offers great value for money.

The hotel's location is great, very close to the airport. However, due to ongoing construction nearby, you can't walk there. You'll need to take the free shuttle from the hotel entrance, which only takes five minutes. Alternatively, you can use the hotel's connecting corridor to reach the Expo Center station and take a one-stop train to the airport. The hotel service was excellent; they allowed us to check in even before the official check-in time. The hotel is quite large, with rooms lining both sides of the corridors. The room was clean and tidy, equipped with a mini-fridge and a safe, so the amenities were complete. Overall, my stay was very pleasant.

I stayed at this hotel four times in 2024 and thought it was pretty good back then. Even though the facilities were old (I think it was built in '06, can't quite remember), it offered great value for money and was conveniently located.
I saw that it was renovated in 2024 (maybe after we stayed there?), so I decided to book it again. Their slippers are really thin, so we brought our own.
I'm not sure if it's because it was a family room, meaning lots of kids, or if the soundproofing is just bad because different room types are on different floors, but the sound insulation was terrible. We constantly heard adults and children talking as they walked past in the hallway, even though our room was quite far from the elevator. When we entered the room, there was a strong musty smell, and there were obvious mold stains along the walls (I thought it was recently renovated? I can't tell where they renovated, it looks just as old as before). There were also a few sunflower seed shells and kernels left on the floor that hadn't been cleaned up. There was no bottled water either (which isn't a big deal, as we usually buy our own water anyway).
The exhaust fan was incredibly loud, and there was a constant dripping sound from the pipes. We could clearly hear people showering and flushing toilets upstairs. It was so noisy past 11 PM that our kids couldn't sleep, and then around 6 AM, people started getting ready, waking us up again. No need for an alarm clock! I don't remember it being this noisy on my previous stays.
However, the staff supervising the lobby were very proactive and friendly. When there was a long queue, they guided us to the self-service machines to check in.

This hotel offers an elegant and comfortable environment with a minimalist yet grand design. The common areas are clean, tidy, and have a warm ambiance, with greenery and lighting perfectly arranged, making you feel relaxed and at ease the moment you step in. The guest rooms are spacious and bright, with thoughtful details, ensuring an excellent stay experience. The restaurant's offerings were an even greater surprise; the dishes are fresh, exquisite, and authentically flavored, and the service is attentive and meticulous. The dining environment is quiet and stylish, suitable for both casual gatherings and business meals. Overall, it offers great value for money, and I was very satisfied with my stay.

The room was spacious, and the two 1.5-meter beds were very comfortable. The only issue was that I booked two nights on separate reservations. On the first day, when I checked in, they said they'd link both nights and activate the room key. However, on the second day, the key didn't work, and I couldn't get in. Even with my child, the staff insisted I go to the front desk to reactivate the card before they would open the door for us. It was clearly the hotel's mistake for not linking my two separate bookings for both days. It was such a hassle, running back and forth.
The upside is that the hotel is directly connected to the airport, which is very convenient. The shuttle bus staff downstairs were incredibly friendly, polite, and helpful with information on how to get around. A big thank you to those two. Thumbs up!

The hotel was generally clean, and I was pleased with the room condition at first. However, my experience changed when I discovered brownish water flowing from the bathtub. After checking with the hotel staff, I was informed that it was due to an emergency water stoppage earlier, which was disappointing.
The location was acceptable, though it required a bit of walking to reach the nearest station.

They say hotel rooms in Hong Kong are small, so I specifically booked a 30 sqm room in advance. For just over a thousand RMB, I got a twin room, and it was excellent. The location is quiet with a sea view. It came with a bathtub, a desk, a full set of toiletries, an ironing board, a microwave, a sink, and broadband internet. There's also a gym on the third floor (mostly frequented by foreign guests who like to work out early). Both the front desk and housekeeping staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even store your luggage after check-out with a corresponding tag, so you don't have to worry about losing anything – it's a great service. The MTR, tram (ding-ding), and bus stops are all nearby, and there are places to eat breakfast close by too. Highly recommended!

The room was quite spacious overall, and it was cleaned daily. The shower in my room also had a bathtub, which was great for a relaxing soak. However, Hong Kong nights in January can be a bit chilly, and the hotel's blankets were thinner than what you'd find in mainland China, plus the air conditioning wasn't very effective, so make sure to bundle up.
Transportation is also very convenient. I strongly advise against walking uphill. From Central MTR Exit D, head to Pedder Street and take bus 12A. Get off at the YWCA stop, then walk towards the gas station. There's a glass side door that leads directly to the hotel reception.
Note that bus 12A is a circular route. After boarding at the stop near the MTR station, it will pause at Admiralty Station; just wait for it to depart.
I highly recommend visiting the Zoological and Botanical Gardens directly across the street in the morning. The birdsong is lovely, and around 8 AM, the monkeys in their enclosure all start calling out together, which is quite interesting.

DDadadajingThis was my first solo trip and I was a bit nervous at first, but my Hong Kong trip turned out to be really enjoyable, not scary at all. In fact, it felt even more liberating and comfortable.
I chose this hotel and its location is incredibly convenient. The MTR station is less than a 10-minute walk away, and Pacific Place is within walking distance. The area around the hotel is also very lively. There's a fantastic Korean noodle shop nearby that I highly recommend! I went back out for a quick bite after returning to the hotel in the evening and managed to get a meal just before they closed. It was super delicious! Later, I found out it's a chain.
The cleanliness of the room was also excellent, and I'm quite particular about hotels. I stayed over a weekend, and at 1000 per night, the price was quite good. I genuinely recommend it!
Oh, and a quick note about the random room assignment. I was initially worried about getting a bad room. When I got to the front desk, I was going to ask for a high-floor room, but the staff mentioned that the lower floors had just been renovated, so I went ahead with a low-floor room. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied and have already recommended it to friends who have also stayed here.
AAnonymous UserThis is the most beautiful sea-view hotel I've ever stayed in. Not only is it clean and hygienic, but the room is also very spacious. Although it's not close to the city center, there are two bus stops right across from the hotel, which makes it very convenient. For just over 200 HKD per person, you can stay in such a great hotel in Hong Kong, where every inch of land is precious. What more could you ask for?
11186269101For my relatives' trip to Hong Kong, I booked the Royal Plaza Hotel in Mong Kok for them. As a hotel situated in the bustling heart of Mong Kok, it perfectly balances vibrancy with tranquility!
The moment you step into the lobby, the elegant design instantly puts you at ease. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were friendly and welcoming with smiles. The room itself was spacious – a 33-square-meter guest room in Hong Kong is definitely 'luxury' level. The interior was cozy, with soft lighting and high-quality wood-grain furniture, creating a homely feel. What was most satisfying was how incredibly clean the room was, with tidy bedding and even the smallest details spotless. Plus, it comes with a direct drinking water system, which is fantastic for tea lovers! 👍
The bathroom facilities were also a highlight. The separate bathtub allowed for a relaxing soak, washing away the day's fatigue.
In terms of location, the Royal Plaza Hotel truly has the upper hand. It's directly connected to Mong Kok East MTR Station and the large MOKO shopping mall. Whether you're heading to Tsim Sha Tsui for the Star Ferry or Causeway Bay for some retail therapy, transportation is incredibly convenient! The surrounding area is also a paradise for eating, shopping, and entertainment. In just a few minutes' walk, you can reach特色attractions like Goldfish Market and Sneaker Street, allowing you to experience authentic Hong Kong culture anytime.
__WeChat284441****Stayed here a couple of years ago with a friend and was impressed by the value for money. It's conveniently located by public transport and offers great views by the harbor. The staff, Frankie, Annie, and Nick, were surprisingly wonderful. My friend was also very impressed, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Hong Kong. 🥰

Very Good
GGuest UserIn my early years, I often collaborated with the Kerry Group. If the 80s belonged to the Ritz-Carlton and the 90s to Hilton, then Shangri-La has since reigned as a 'heaven on earth,' truly living up to its name. If you're tired of monotonous experiences, then after trying the 'local flavor old-brand royal' hotels in Hong Kong and Macau, you'll tell yourself not to challenge yourself again as you get older. These '特色皇家老牌' (characteristic royal old-brand) hotels will only transport you back to 1960s state-run guesthouses, complete with grumpy staff, rattling air conditioners, and 'flavorful' showers that fluctuate between hot and cold – much like the declining British Empire. Be kind to yourself. Stepping into the familiar Shangri-La lobby, it's a unique experience, like escaping a disaster. After returning from Victoria Peak to Hong Kong University, I had the best sleep I've ever had in Hong Kong. The service is excellent in that it doesn't add to your troubles when you're already feeling weary. Aside from some doormen who exhibit a 'Hong Kong style' of judging people, everything else is outstanding. Especially noteworthy is the polite and graceful lobby manager in red. I witnessed a small incident where she treated customers speaking Japanese and Chinese with equal respect – a definite plus. A unique environmental feature is that Hong Kong Park acts as the hotel's backyard, a luxury usually reserved for national guesthouses.
11358053****1. This hotel is a bit out of the way. There's only one 7/11 nearby, and it's not even 24-hour. The closest place to get food is a 20-minute walk. If you're coming back late and want a bite to eat or to buy something, it's best to have eaten beforehand or to have bought things already.
2. There's no general food delivery in Hong Kong; you can only download the Hong Kong-specific Keta delivery app. However, you need to register to use it, and you can only do so with a local Hong Kong or foreign phone number. Mainland Chinese phone numbers don't work. We asked the front desk if we could register with their number and have them notify us when food arrived, but no one in the entire hotel was willing. So, Keta delivery was effectively useless.
3. The power outlets in Hong Kong are different from mainland China. If you bring the wrong adapter or forget to bring a specialized one, your phone and computer will be useless, because the hotel provides absolutely nothing. At most, they'll let you scan a power bank for 200 yuan deposit and 8 yuan an hour – do with that what you will.
4. The hotel rooms are quite old and a bit dated, and the cleanliness is just average (there was still hair on the towels, and tea stains hadn't been wiped off the table). Those who mind these things should take note.
JjulysummerqFacilities: The room was really spacious, which I loved the most! The drinking water is bottled, they provide 4 bottles, and they replenish them once you've finished. There wasn't a power adapter, but I brought my own. Besides not having an automatic toilet, everything else was perfect.
Cleanliness: The bathroom was also very large. Perhaps it's a new hotel, but it was quite clean.
Environment: The hotel is right across the street from Wan Chai Station Exit D – very close! The first time was a bit confusing to navigate, but there are very detailed route guides on Xiaohongshu, and after staying for 2 days, I became very familiar with the area, so it wasn't inconvenient at all. You can also take a bus from the airport, which involves walking an extra 200-300 meters, but it's quite convenient! Plus, there are tons of food options nearby, and the mall downstairs also has many places to eat.
Service: During check-in, I casually asked if an upgrade was possible, and the lady at the front desk upgraded me to a city-view room, which was slightly larger. My luggage was also delivered to the room, which was excellent 👍.
I'm very satisfied and will definitely choose to stay here again next time!
YYiqiqukanhai58The hotel's location is excellent. From West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station, head towards Elements Mall. Once inside Elements, continue following the clear signs to the hotel. The entire walk is indoors. It's also convenient if you exit at Kowloon MTR station; just walk into Elements. The hotel is clean and the service is warm and friendly. Both the front desk and housekeeping staff were very welcoming. There are clear signs leading to the hotel entrance. You take the elevator to the 6th-floor lobby where staff direct you to the front desk for an easy check-in process.
Because of the convenience and excellent service, I extended my stay for an extra day. On the first day, I wasn't familiar with Elements Mall, but once I got my bearings, it was very easy to get around. To travel from Hong Kong to Macau or Zhuhai, you can simply take the cross-border bus from within Elements Mall, which is incredibly convenient!
GGuest UserEven though the hotel is a bit out of the way, the twin room beds are huge, which is exactly why I chose it for our family trip with the kids. Getting to Disneyland by taxi was convenient, and it's a quick trip to Tsuen Wan MTR station. Overall, I'm very satisfied with our stay; the cleanliness was also excellent. And even though there's no convenience store nearby, they have food and drinks available on the first floor!
