Room was large and bed was very comfortable. Bathroom very clean with excellent shower/bath combo. All staff very friendly & helpful with English spoken by many. Good value breakfast offered a huge range of western & Asian options, we preferred to eat out during the day and the mall across the road has some good value restaurants. Location is perfect, very close to station & easy to get anywhere in Kyoto and beyond - for example, day trip to Hiroshima. I forgot to take photos of the room but it was as advertised. The only thing to improve would be adding USB ports for phone charging in the room, otherwise foreign guests will need a plug adaptor. Highly recommend.

Reasonable priced hostel during new year eve next to kimono temple. Cleanliness in toilet, bathroom and basin area is acceptable but can be improved. My bed is upper bed and the space is way too narrow to get up there( see photo attached) I saw the lower bed were not fully occupied, it could have arranged another bed actually. The bed cubicle is open on top so you can see the next adjacent bed, there’s a pipe on top on the bed.
4 floors sharing shower rooms located at 2nd floor, kitchen and common area are quite cramped with baggage storage, used towels etc.
Alright for a night stay.

This is also a Mitsui Garden Hotel, but unlike the typical 'Japanese' style I usually associate with them, it's much more modern. The public areas are excellent, and the steam room and sauna are definite highlights! They also maintain that modern aesthetic. All the showers are stand-up. The decor and material quality in the rooms and on the guest floors are a bit subpar and overly simplistic. Because the 'base color' is so dark, it tends to show dust bunnies more easily (not necessarily dirty, but it doesn't look good) 😂. The bed, however, is comfortable, and the curtains are great at blocking out light (though it's a shame the windows don't open, I just wanted some fresh air). The TV is high-definition, but its use is limited if you're out all day. The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop, making it easy to get to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Eikan-do. It's actually not far from Shijo and Kyoto Station; on a nice day, you could easily walk, but if it's cold, judge your own stamina. The Gojo subway station entrance, right outside, isn't very friendly for those with large luggage as there's no elevator. Overall, the hotel service deserves a thumbs-up. The front desk staff, both male and female, speak good English and are very friendly and proactive in offering assistance. I noticed a larger number of Western guests during my stay. Just a heads-up: room trash is only collected every two days.

Environment: The location is excellent. Right outside the hotel, there are three streets, and a 2-minute walk to the left takes you to ”Kamo River,” while a 1-minute walk to the right leads to the bustling ”Nishiki Market.”
Cleanliness: Very good, cleaned daily. The bedding is soft and comfortable, perfect for a good night's sleep.
Facilities: The facilities are relatively new and well-maintained.
Food: The breakfast offers a wide variety of options, and Japanese cuisine is very healthy, allowing you to combine dishes to your liking. There are also numerous restaurants with international and various local cuisines nearby, giving you plenty of choices.
Service: What impressed me the most was the incredibly warm service. During this trip, I unfortunately lost my passport one day on the way to a scenic spot. When I returned to the hotel and explained the situation to the front desk, two service staff members (Ms. Tokieda and Ms. Ogawa) asked me about all the places I had visited that day (all subway and bus stations). They immediately called each station, and after 20 minutes of effort, they miraculously found my passport. I was truly touched by their help on the spot. I want to thank them and the hotel again for their excellent service.
When traveling, unexpected incidents can happen, especially in an environment where you don't speak the language, but outstanding service can truly make you feel warm and cared for.

The hotel's location is great, and the rooms are clean and spacious. They offer free parking, and the breakfast selection is quite good and tasty. It's very convenient, as most attractions are within a few kilometers. There are also many yakitori and yakiniku restaurants nearby, and an Aeon supermarket is just a few hundred meters away. The hotel even provides a shuttle bus to JR Isetan department store. This hotel offers excellent value for money; the free parking alone saves you about 100 yuan a day. Highly recommended!

The hotel is full of design flair, truly befitting Kyoto. The garden views are absolutely stunning, and the rooms are very spacious. The onsen (hot spring bath) is spotlessly clean with a large pool. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. It's surrounded by charming Kyoto shops, making it super convenient for shopping. I'll definitely choose this place again next time. The only downside is that the elevator has a rather pungent, almost urine-like smell, which is quite odd.

My stay was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, but the hotel's greatest advantage is its prime location right next to the Central Station, making travel incredibly convenient. The breakfast offered a fantastic variety, and the staff was both friendly and highly professional. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The room isn't small, it's very clean, and the view is great too! The staff are all super enthusiastic, speak English, and there's even a front desk attendant who speaks Chinese. There's a hot spring bath on the 13th floor ♨️, soaking in it after a day of exploring is just the best! The hotel's location is also excellent, with bus routes 80 and 5 nearby, and Gojo subway station is also close, just one stop from Kyoto Station. The surrounding area is lovely, quiet yet centrally located. Highly recommend!!
The location of the hotel was good, near to the Jujo subway station, exit 3. The carpet was an eyesore, thought it was dirty but was told it was due to some cleaning products. The hotel has the potential to improve its overall service such as offering guests with early check-in hours (one or two hours prior to the standard time); offering some refreshments or water for guest while waiting for check-in; and ensuring that rooms are clean at all time.

Conveniently located yet surprisingly quiet, the hotel staff were warm and professional. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was good and varied enough to satisfy both my son's and my own preferences. I would definitely choose this hotel again.

__zfb2088002094772335The room was very quiet, and the breakfast offered a choice of Japanese and Western buffets. There's a souvenir shop next to the lobby that closes at 5 PM, where you can buy gifts. The location is very close to Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, and the giant ginkgo trees there are beautiful. It's about a six or seven-minute walk to the subway.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves.
When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service.
The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point.
There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.
RReneehuangHighly Recommended Stay in Kyoto
I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality.
In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.
Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.
GGuominziThe attention to detail at this hotel is exceptional. The hotel's brochure provides incredibly detailed information about all facilities and their origins, covering everything from furniture and bedding brands down to the specific brand of mouthwash cups. The rooms are also spacious, and the air conditioning is remarkably quiet. The bakery in the ground floor lobby is delicious – truly, good ingredients make for great taste! I particularly liked the greenery right at the hotel entrance and the overall decor of the lobby. The only minor drawback is the lack of a convenience store nearby; you have to walk about 500-600 meters to find a FamilyMart.

11865200****This hotel is less than a ten-minute walk from Kyoto Station, but it's on the opposite side of Yodobashi Camera, which makes it slightly less convenient than the other side. However, a major plus is that the hotel has a public bath. The rooms are quite small, making it a bit challenging to open luggage. In the lobby, there's a self-service beverage and coffee machine, and you can even use a takeaway cup.

Amazing
IIRADAThough the hotel itself is good (I’m staying here for a second time), this time the service was awful.1) went to breakfast, me and my friend ordered 2 dishes, when in 20 mins time there still was nothing, we reminded a waitress of our order… another 20 mins - still nothing. All in all we spent 40 mins at the breakfast restaurant and didn’t get our food. When we explained this to the hostess she just said “sorry” and we left the restaurant hungry. 2) ordered afternoon tea for 3 persons (afternoon tea is served at another restaurant at the hotel). 2 normal sets and 1 for a person who doesn’t like dairy products. That person is me. I explained that I have no allergy, I just don’t like the taste of milk, cheese, et cetera. So I’m fine with bread and with sweets, just not the ones that have cheese on top. In the end instead of the sweets they brought me a fruit platter (that’s all, my friends got a lot of different sweets), when I again explained to the hostess that I’m fine with sweets (sweet bread) and would like to eat the sweets included in the afternoon tea set she just said that they “prepared smth else” for me (she meant the fruit platter). No apology no anything. Mind you, I ordered afternoon tea last year at this same place - everything was alright! As this is a 5 star hotel and everything here is rather expensive (including breakfast and afternoon tea) this is unacceptable level if service.

FfongThe rooms are decent. There's a communal bath, which is kind of like a hot spring, though the water is just regular tap water – it was clean and hygienic. On the second floor, there's a ping-pong table, an all-you-can-drink bar, and a small kids' play area. It feels like a friendly little community. The staff are all polite and attentive.
There's an aquarium very close by, and the hotel has a back entrance for direct access. We didn't realize this until we walked all the way around in the rain!
There's a surface parking lot if you drive, costing 2500 yen per day for unlimited use, but the small road leading in can be a bit tricky to find.

FFifiLONGAn experience that exceeded my expectations! It seems there are only two garden-view rooms per floor, and the balconies are fully equipped and well-utilized, not just for show. As a Virgo detail-freak, I absolutely loved it! My friend and I were both very satisfied. The room facilities were amazing in every aspect!
The location is excellent, within walking distance of famous attractions like Gion. The super popular dumpling restaurant across the street had no line when we went between 4-5 PM! It was delicious!
However, the hotel's front desk staff and servers didn't seem to have much hotel experience; they were a bit unfamiliar and didn't quite understand service. Our room key didn't even work upon check-in... but they all had very good attitudes.
