We had an amazing stay at Shangri-La Banxia Time Homestay, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shangri-La, Yunnan. From the moment we booked, the host was extremely responsive, keeping in touch with us for three weeks before our trip. They provided useful tips, such as bringing heavy clothes due to the cold and snow, which helped us a lot in preparing for our visit. One of the best things about this homestay was the hospitality. The host picked us up and dropped us off at the train station for free of charge, making our arrival and departure hassle-free. They also went the extra mile by lending us winter jackets at no cost, which was a thoughtful gesture. Additionally, they arranged a driver for us to visit the places we wanted to explore, making our trip smooth and enjoyable. The homestay itself was fantastic—spacious, exactly as shown in the pictures, and equipped with complete amenities. It truly felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the hot blankets and oxygen supply, which were essential due to Shangri-La’s high altitude. The homestay also had a modern design while being located in the heart of the ancient town, offering easy access to everything. Beyond the comfortable stay, the host’s kindness and guidance made our experience even better. They recommended great places to visit and local restaurants to try, ensuring we had a memorable trip. The toilet even has an auto bidet (very important for us Thais!). Though the hotel is on high ground and the stairs might make you a bit tired, the effort is totally worth it. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the hotel's charming architecture that perfectly captures the essence of the ancient city. The building's design is a beautiful homage to Lijiang's rich history and culture, offering a picturesque and authentic experience. it is situated very close to north gate and the grand water wheel. The service at Huang Garden Inn was impeccable. The staff were incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. We were particularly impressed with the heated bed in our room, which provided a cozy and warm retreat after a day of exploring the city. Additionally, the owner can speak English and extremely helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Great location next to everything! Service was quick and prompt. Unfortunately no English spoken. Originally booked a double room but got ‘upgraded’ to a queen. Room was spacious, but showing its age with cracks, scuffs, dirty spots on the wall, and mould in the bathroom. Also no windows which was incredibly claustrophobic. Breakfast was below standard. Western options (e.g croissants and breads) were overly sweet, and local options (stir fries, fried rice) were too oily.

We enjoyed our stay here. It feels like a very well maintained place and everyone knows what to do. The staff brought our bags to room when we check-in and check out. The location was good and easy to find, to take cab also close by to main road. We booked this place because of its location, traditional building design and pricing. We enjoyed our room although sometimes we could hear neighbours firecrackers and electric bike sounds, but it wasn't a very big issue for us, seen as part of the culture. We particularly like the freebies that came with our booking and also the water bottle refill machine with normal and hot water setting. When we left, the lady boss spotted the door wasn't opening smoothly and immediately noticed the staff to check on it. It makes guest feel taken care of and priority.

It was very unique experience being at Old Town, Lijiang. The fact that we stayed at this place, made it even more memorable. The location is very close/walkable to square street of the Ancient town. The room is spacious with hot shower and all basic amenities working properly. Specially the mattress was great and made us sleep like babies. :) Another important part of the experience was the hosts, mainly Andy. He was always available via WeChat and was very helpful all the way. We had language barrier, but with translator apps we made it work. Andy helped us with directions, taking us to food places even when many places were closed & we were facing a -1 degree celsius temperature, made us tea that kept us warm and many other act of generosity and overall being a very good host. The place and amenities get 9/10 plus extra few points for the hosts Andy & his colleagues.

The location is very convenient, just a 5-minute walk to the Dafo Temple Prayer Wheel. There are many restaurants nearby, making it easy to find food. I booked the family room, and the underfloor heating is turned on after 5 PM. You will feel warm when you step on the floor. The family room has two beds. One of the beds has a heating pad, so you will feel warm while sleeping in it. The other bed does not have a heating pad, but there is a portable electric heater beside it. The whole room is very warm; even when the temperature outside drops below 0°C, I still felt warm indoors, especially due to the heated floor. The room also provides an oxygen device in case you need it. The breakfast is simple but good, and you can ask for refills if needed. The hotel staff are very friendly and even offer a free ride to the train station. This hotel is a great choice for foreign tourists exploring Dukezong Ancient City.

Cleanliness is honestly so-so. Found used/opened disposable shampoo packets in bathroom when arrived. The in-room hot water dispenser is a small-sized mobile unit that connects directly to a small mineral water bottle - not easy to use plus it discharges some greenish fluid while trying out. The multi-level building has no lift so large heavy luggage is challenging (credit to the staff who would help to carry it up for you), but climbing up/down not easy for old people. Getting the right temperature in the bathroom is challenging too, it's often too hot or too cold, and hard to adjust in between. The hotel allowed smoking in indoor public areas, resulting in the whole building soaked in second hand smoke. This is unfortunately the biggest put off that spoils everything else that could have made it a reasonable stay. Overall, I would say the stay had been below our expectations.

This is a terrific hotel I had ever stayed. I would give the hotel 10 (if the highest score is 5) ^_^ The location is the best. Only 200m to walk to Tapho temple& Dukezhong ancient town. Very convenience to find food and also Didi. The service is  the best! The owners are very friendly, kinds and full of service mind, provide good information no matter what we ask for ie suggest the good restaurants, provided day tour information and so on. The owners allowed us to check in early. In addition, she upgraded the room for us to the premium one where we could  see Tapho temple by the window. We stayed 3 nights(Jan,25) and not only the owner picked up us at the train station, she also offered us a ride to the train station when we left… very impressed! All amenities are perfect  ie..O2 generator,   humidifier machine, washing machine (inside our room) and so on. The heater was so warm as there is electricity blanquette, floor heater beside the normal heater one. We are very comfortable during stay here. I would definitely stay here again for next trip and will recommend friends for this super perfect hotel :)

Accommodation near Dafo Temple 大佛寺 (Guishan Monastery) Exit the hotel, turn right and walk along the road for about 500m. You will arrive here. This is a triple room with a very good view. The next day, let the accommodation book a cable car up Shika Shika Snow Mountain. There is no additional charge. The price is according to the website. We let the accommodation drive us and on the way back, pick up from Shika and drop us off at Song Zanlin Temple. Then, my friend and I asked the accommodation to find a private car from Shangri-La to Deqing for 2 days and 1 night. The owner drove us himself and took very good care of us. Everything was good except for breakfast, which was Chinese style, noodles and pancakes, which was not bad. We were okay with it. FYI. The accommodation is a family business. We help each other and raise 3 cats.

I had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse in Lijiang! The owner was incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home right away. The location is perfect—close to the old town but in a quieter area, which I really appreciated. The view of the old town from the guesthouse is absolutely stunning. The room was great value for money, clean, and comfortable. A real highlight was the owner taking me on a memorable trip to Jade Dragon Mountain, which was one of the most impressive experiences of my visit to the city. She speaks excellent English and provided great company and insights during the trip. If you're looking for a warm, personal experience in Lijiang, I highly recommend staying here!

I recently stayed at Laixi homestay and had a decent experience overall. The staffs were friendly and hospitable as they served us local snacks to try while we chill in the guest area. Although the cleanliness of the place was not the best, it was still manageable as hotel disposable slippers were provided. The rooms were tidy but could have been cleaner. The breakfast provided was not too bad, a delicious bowl of noodles made by their local aunty. One thing I really enjoyed about Laixi homestay was the pool table in the guest area. It provided a fun and entertaining activity for guests to enjoy during their stay. It was unfortunate that we were not able to get nice views of the mountain due to bad weather. But I'm sure the view would be spectacular from their rooftop which is only accessible from one of their room. Despite the cleanliness issue, I still found the homestay to be a decent option for accommodation. The pool table and the laid-back atmosphere were definite highlights that added to the overall experience. If you're looking for a casual and relaxed place to stay, Laixi homestay might be worth considering.

The location is just inside the ancient city, and the boss met me outside to help bring my luggage to the hotel. The room is clean and has a very comfortable bed! If you get the room by the outdoor photo area, it can be quite noisy but will usually quieten down by 11pm. The boss was helpful to change my room on the last day to a more quieter room, and even booked a free driver to the train station on check out. Overall a good stay and is convenient to walk around the ancient town.

It was a bit tricky to find when you’re only looking at the map, since it is not the corner building but a bit down the road where the street art is. But a very nice and big space with lots of lounge options. Bedrooms were quite nice too. I would have loved to stay a bit longer!

A great place to rest in old town Lijiang. Very close to the old town and other attractions. Not far from the new commercial areas too and most DIDI taxi can drop you right up on the mountain where you just walk down a short distance to the hotel. For the price we paid we think it's a great deal. Also it's quiet at night so you can have a great night rest.

Highly recommended hotel if you want to be in the ancient city and not too far away from the main road. Personalised butler service with 小勇 was great! WeChat group was set up before arrival and he helped with arranging the free transport from Lijiang train station to 南门1号 where he is there with trolley to help us with the luggages as the road in the ancient city is bumpy. Super grateful for great service where he went above and beyond working hours to fix up our needs and also introduce scenic routes within the ancient city and recommending restaurants and shopping tips around. He also helped to book our tickets to 玉龙雪山 and 丽江千古情 show. We all loved the animal interaction at the hotel. Hotel has a 1 year plus samoey mixed golden dog name xixi which is friendly and playful. 2 alpacas, brown one is male and white one is female who is more shy. 2 rabbits and 2 peacocks. There are washing machines and dryer for ur laundry needs too. 2 game station. Gym. Library. Pool table. Tea houses. KTV room was good! Tea break and breakfast was also nice. The flat white was legit.

I recently stayed at Huiyu Jushe Guanjing Inn, and it truly felt like discovering a hidden gem! At over 300rmb per night, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I checked in. The view from my room was absolutely breathtaking, with either a panoramic scene of lush green mountains and tranquil waters or charming ancient streets and alleys—every photo I took felt like it belonged in a movie. The room itself was well-equipped with everything I needed: air conditioning, hot water, and reliable WiFi. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I found myself falling asleep within moments each night. This hotel will attach a butler for each guest during the stay. My butler named Dashan. He was warm and attentive, always eager to assist with planning my itinerary. His kindness and the other staffs made our stay even more memorable. They even provided afternoon tea, and the public terrace was another highlight—it was so cosy!🫠 The inn is also conveniently located, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Given the combination of comfort, stunning views, and excellent service, the price-performance ratio is unbeatable. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this spot to others.
