"We landed at 8 PM, boarded the JR at 8:40 PM, and reached Wakayama Station by 10 PM. The hotel's location was incredibly convenient – just about 100 meters to the right after exiting the central gate.
The receptionist was Chinese, exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which really helped us relax after a long day of travel. They also provided us with a local map and recommended places where we could still find yakitori at that late hour.
The room was relatively spacious, and having triple rooms is genuinely convenient for families traveling together.
However, the breakfast, which came highly recommended by others, set my expectations a bit too high. Personally, I found it relatively simple with limited choices, though it was sufficient to fill you up."
"There are only a handful of top-rated hotels in Wakayama. I deliberated between this one and the one located at the JR station, ultimately choosing this hotel because of reviews mentioning Wakayama Castle views and a good breakfast, though I was slightly worried about transportation.
My actual experience proved transport to be very convenient; a bus ride was just over ten minutes and dropped me off right at the hotel's doorstep. After checking in and going up to my room, I eagerly pulled back the curtains and was instantly thrilled to see Wakayama Castle, majestically framed by the twilight hills and a purple sky. The room was quite spacious, featuring a small sofa seating area by the window. There was ample space to open two suitcases without any issue. After a quick tidy-up, I couldn't wait to head out and explore.
Though Wakayama Castle may not be as renowned as the four great ancient castles, its charm lies in its remarkably welcoming and accessible design. The path circling the castle walls is open to the public, and you can easily enter by crossing a small bridge over the moat. It was pleasant to see locals strolling and jogging around. After a half-lap exploration, I found the perfect spot for night photos and was extremely pleased with the view.
Breakfast on the second day was served at a Japanese-Western fusion restaurant downstairs. The food selection was extensive, and the quality was excellent—truly impeccable. There's also a soba noodle shop within the building, which was delicious and reasonably priced. I had read reviews previously suggesting there weren't many dining options near the hotel, but actually, there are several restaurants and a convenience store right inside the building, which was fantastic.
Overall, it was a very satisfying stay."
"On my first day in Japan, I checked into this hotel, which is incredibly conveniently located right around the corner from the JR station exit. It was absolutely no hassle with luggage.
The hotel room was clean and featured large floor-to-ceiling windows. Unfortunately, I arrived too late to experience the rooftop spa.
Breakfast comes highly recommended, offering panoramic sea views through its three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, and the food selection was abundant.
From the JR platform, it's easy to transfer to services heading to attractions like the Cat Train line and Shirahama.
The commercial complex on the hotel's second floor houses a food street and a local artisan market.
Directly from the hotel's second floor, you can access the Wakayama City Library. If you have time, I highly recommend visiting it with children; it's spread over three floors, and my child was thrilled to discover original Detective Conan manga there."
"The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from JR Wakayama Station. The breakfast was fantastic, and it boasts a public onsen bath and sauna. They also offer complimentary udon noodles in the evening. The staff were wonderfully attentive. The rooms are a good size, and the price offers excellent value for money! We also enjoyed sushi at Umeya, conveniently located right opposite the hotel, where we received a complimentary sushi dish with a coupon from the hotel."
"It's really a very good hotel, just a few minutes' walk from Wakayama Station and just past two major intersections. The location is particularly good! There are women's and men's baths on the first and second floors of the hotel, which are open for a long time and not crowded, so you can experience a comfortable and pleasant bath!"
"Value for money. For the price paid. Can't complain much as got free driving from Kada station to the hotel.
Cons is need to get the pic from train station to call as the number on the Google map and the banner can't go through.
Recommended to use the hotel transport as walking is too far.
Pros everything. There is a laundry coin as well which save our life alot as we travel 3 weeks to Japan. Do note the awajima shrine is just beside this hotel. Must visit and do see the sunset and sunrise.
Cons far from station"
"This hotel is really old and not very cost-effective. In addition, it was difficult to connect to the hotel's wifi, and it took a long time to set it up with their staff. The location is relatively remote, so it would be better if you drive by yourself. In addition, children without extra beds will be charged separately. If I hadn't booked at last minute and had no choice, I would really want to change hotels."
"spacious rooms, large beds, enough spaces for opening two suitcases
no breakfast but only the bakery
nice view from room
easy access to 黑潮市場
got shuttle in front of hotel to railway station"
"The hotel is located near Wakayama Station. You need to go out from the east exit of the station. The room is not big. Two big suitcases, one behind the door and one on the luggage rack, can barely be opened at the same time. The room is set up like other hotels, but there is no yukata and coat hanger. The coat hanger is replaced by a simple wooden strip nailed to the wall. It is suitable for short-term stay. There is a coin-operated laundry service downstairs. The only surprise is that this hotel actually provides free breakfast service, with simple breakfast food, such as bread, sandwiches, coffee, drinks, and Japanese breakfast soup, rice balls, side dishes, rice, etc. Good value for money."
"This was second stay this year whilst visiting my son. Hotel is a short stroll from main railway station & a large department store with food outlets. Staff at hotel are helpful & polite with a varying grasp of English. The breakfast is reasonable but with room for improvement. For European pallets there was no cheese or cold meats, limited bread choice & only undercooked scrambled eggs but this is common throughout Japan. However, I was disappointed on one aspect. Had been expecting some fresh oranges - Wakayama grows them - on both my visits none appeared. Bicycles are also available for hire & we did this free of charge whilst visiting in April & it was thoroughly enjoyable & a good way to sightsee. I would recommend this hotel."

GGuest UserLocation 8/10:
close to the JR station where the buses are as well.
close to a convenient store where you can buy all your necessities.
for those who wants to take a taxi, there's one station nearby.
Restaurants are a little too far, the closest sento is a little too far.

YYanxiaoxiaOur first stop in Kansai was Wakayama. We took the last flight that night and arrived at the hotel around midnight. We rang the bell, and a receptionist came out. The hotel offered complimentary welcome drinks and snacks. The room layout was very practical, with a separate shower and toilet. The bed was about 1.5 meters wide, which was just enough for two adults and one child. The pillows and blankets were comfortable, and the room was full of thoughtful details. Toiletries, children's items, tea bags, instant coffee, etc., were all provided. The bathroom was spacious and even had bath salts – fantastic! The kids were very happy. Truly amazing! Highly recommended.
CChuchuzThe geographical location is excellent, very close to the station and convenient for travel. The hotel offers a wide variety of breakfast options, including not only regular choices but also delicious udon noodles, which is very thoughtful. The room is clean and comfortable, and the scenery outside the window is beautiful and relaxing. There are abundant dining options around the hotel, and many gourmet restaurants can be found within walking distance, which is very convenient. Wakayama Castle is also within walking distance, making it suitable for travelers who like to explore the city. The overall accommodation experience is very comfortable, the service is thoughtful, and it is a very cost-effective choice.
AAnonymous UserThe amenities are a bit on the retro side, but the overall service and comfort are beyond expectations. Excellent bedding and linen, nice fragrance in public spaces, vending machines with cup ramen and other food and drinks, free toiletries and tea sachets at the lobby. Asked for a room with the castle view and the hotel kindly met my request. Amazing! Location also Ok. Breakfast quite nice, especially the Japanese dishes. Bus stop and convenience store nearby. Would definitely stay here again.
IIsaac HuskyNothing impressive, small and dark. Okay for a single guy , not sure about ladies. Close to Wakayama-Shi station, so getting around is easy.
Rooms have no view, just looking at pipes dripping water. Room smells of smoke. Toilets are hard to get into as they are ‘caravan size’ toilets and showers. The bath tub is very high, not ideal for elderly folks as the showers are installed within. They do have a ioniser and demister in the room to get rid of bad air and foul smoke smell but not very effective. If you plan to spend most of the day out, it’s ideal.
GGuest UserFabulous seaside view and nice Japanese traditional style onsen with Seaview. They also switch male and female side every day so you can enjoy both onsen in one trip. Their check out time is 10am and check in around 15:00 so the time you can enjoy is a little limited. But I would recommend you take the breakfast and dinner inclusive to have the whole experience and it is quite far away from any food and no convenient transport except transfer to city center every morning.
GGuest User#Praise#For mosquito control measures, hotel smell, bedding comfort, location, toiletries, room lighting satisfaction; I like this hotel so much! It is also an ideal hotel! The so-called ideal is that every aspect is very practical! Although there is no breakfast, there is a refrigerator microwave in the room. It is very convenient to buy and eat at the nearby convenience store supermarket. The room is large and the bathroom is large, and the toiletries are complete to even the curling stick! The kettle said that the insulation can be kept warm for one night, not to mention that it is so cheap not far from the station! I will only live here on the West Line in the future. ps: This ideal hotel comes from a 40-generation hotel that has lived in various large and small Japanese hotels in a variety of sizes and sizes. Lightning avoidance and mentioning that this store has no elevator, large boxes of passengers should be cautious.
夢夢想是環遊世界The hotel owner's service is generally the same, a little impatient, obviously the phone number registered on the self-check-in machine is not my phone number, I have not registered, I don't know what's going on, the boss said that this is a very serious problem. In addition, I wanted to cancel the reservation because of my stomach pain, but because the order is not cancelled and refunded, even if the platform communicated with the boss, the boss still resolutely refused, so I felt a little bad, I could only go there on the same day to check in
Facilities: There is a bathtub, there are few places, the bed frame is wooden, the mattress is clean, there are small lights and small fans on the side of the bed, and the fan connection can be used as USB charging. There are two tables in the living room, wash basins, wash basins for combing, disposable toothbrushes, lockers, boiled water you can boil hot water yourself. The environment is 10 points clean, and there are not many people when I checked in. There are only two or three people in 10 beds.
