I recently stayed at the Britannia Hotel in Manchester and wanted to share my thoughts. Location: The location is definitely one of the hotel’s strongest points. It’s super accessible to all forms of transport, whether you’re arriving by train, bus, or tram. It’s right in the city center, so you can easily explore Manchester without much hassle. Parking: The parking arrangement is convenient if you’re driving, especially with free parking between 8 pm and 8 am. Outside of those hours, you’ll need to pay, so keep that in mind if you’re staying for longer stretches. Hotel Condition: This is where the hotel shows its age. The building is very old, and while it has some charm, it could definitely use an upgrade. You can feel the wear and tear in the common areas and some of the rooms. Rooms: The rooms are a mixed bag. The basic rooms are just that—basic. They’re not particularly comfortable, and if you’re picky about where you sleep, you might feel underwhelmed. However, if you go for one of the upgraded rooms, the experience is much better. Those rooms feel cleaner and more inviting. Breakfast: Breakfast is a solid deal at just £9. It’s not a luxury spread, but it gets the job done. You’ll find the usual options for a budget-friendly hotel breakfast. Staff: The staff are a highlight of the hotel. They’re very kind and helpful, making you feel welcome from check-in to check-out. Value for Money: Overall, this is a budget-friendly hotel, so you do get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a no-frills place to stay in a central location and don’t mind the dated vibe, it works. However, if comfort and modern amenities are a priority, you might want to explore other

Overall the stay was good. However, the service fell below our expectations. The toilets had ran out of shower gel and despite requesting for a refill, there was no action at all even after checking out. The breakfast wasn’t that enjoyable as well, but for the price we paid, we wouldn’t have expected any better.

Selina was just perfect. A very friendly welcome at arrivals, helpful and happy to answer any questions or give directions. They even give you a free drink and 25% discount at an adjacent bar (Wilson’s) The room itself was spotlessly clean with a large bed, warm bathroom and natural light. I can definitely recommend staying in Selina for a city centre visit.

Room was so clean. Location was excellent. Only issue was we keep waking up due to the squeaky floors and the noise of footsteps from outside our room as it was so loud. However, it was a really nice place to stay for a holiday. Comfy room! Will come back! ✨⭐️

We had the window room, price is fantastic, room is big and clean, TV is very big, double the size that the usual hotel room has, bathroom big and clean like new, fan, hairdryer, kettle and tea/coffee. Location is fantastic, right in the middle of centre, lots of shops around, less than 10mins walk to Chinatown. Free newspaper available. Drink and snack vending machine at the lift available. But because the location is in the city, the room is bit noisy during the night. There some free postcard of the hotel at the lobby too.

My second time staying in this hotel. The last time was 2 years ago.  A little disappointed this time.  Though was able to do an early check in, the room assigned was a room meant for special need people with hand bars in toilet. Whenever someone bathes.. the floor would be all wet and slippery.  Carpet and beddings were dated. The room has a stale smell and lightings in room were weak. The air con leaked with dripping sound all night and we were unable to sleep well for the 2 nights. Carpet around the air con which is also the main door area were wet in the mornings due to the leakage. The sofa bed wasn’t comfortable, spring in the middle sunk and hence the person sleeping on it has a backache ! Don’t think we would be back . Will be putting up in IBIS in Salford Quay and Pollard street for another 10 nights in July , hope situation would be better..

Great value for money ! Does what it says on the tin ! It's a quirky Ibis Styles, great location 5 mins walk from Picadilly station. Very friendly staff with good local knowledge. Rooms and reception have quirky decor, I do appreciate that they made an effort. Very Styles! Room is compact but has everything you need, nice practical side table and a fake grass cube to sit on. Bathroom roomy and spotlessly clean. USB A and sockets next to each side of the bed, no USB C though ..... Good price for a mid week, I'm very happy with my choice !

I stayed at the Ibis on Portland Street in central Manchester (not to be confused with the Ibis Styles further down the road). The staff were friendly and allowed me to check in early, which was a nice touch. Although I didn't spend much time in the room as I was out exploring, it was a good place to rest. The room was clean, with tea and coffee provided, and the shower had excellent water pressure and stayed hot. The Wi-Fi worked well, though the air conditioning had analogue controls, which felt outdated and a bit unclear to use. Breakfast was included in the stay, but I didn’t have the chance to try it as favoured my beauty sleep. There was some noise from footsteps in the corridor and the room above, but overall, it was a decent stay. The room was quite similar to the one I stayed at in London Greenwich.

The hotel it’s literally a 5 minute walk away from the taxi area of Manchester Piccadilly station. It’s worth knowing the hotel has two entrance where only is highlighted on most map apps. The room was good, the bed is incredibly comfortable with pillows that a little too soft for me. All in all a great room. I skipped the breakfast option and Pollen Kampus is around the corner and have a lot of great pastry and good coffee as well as being having some great brunch options. My only gripe is someone was smoking on the floor I was on, as I got close to my room it got stronger. I told the front desk and all that was said is the hotel manager will get in touch. This experience will prevent me from booking again. I mention this as I have to be fair to my experience.

GGuest UserWell, the room itself was good, small but well thought out except that there is no light switch by the bed. Comfortable bed, decent TV and compact but fully functional shower room with an excellent power shower. Check-in was simple, just had to pay an extra £1 for the Manchester tourist tax. And the location is very good, in the University area by the Graphene institute and a few minutes walk from the main drag and Piccadilly station. But the breakfast! Oh dear. I was welcomed and informed I could sit anywhere but every table was dirty, not a clean place anywhere, and only a few places were set with cutlery. Found a relatively clean table eventually then went to the self-service buffet. Good selection of food but the hot food - eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomoatoes, mushrooms, hash browns - was old and cold. Breakfast is from 7 to 10 am. I got there at 9 and I think the food had been put out at 7. Just about edible but not great. You could have played tennis with the rubbery eggs. Only small coffee/tea cups available, and quite randomly laid out. Unfortunately it was free (at least, included in the room rate) so couldn't even get a refund. Take the room, but go out for breakfast!

GGuest UserThe location was great, the room was great and really clean. Air con didn’t work and the room and everywhere in the hotel was very hot as all heaters were on. Breakfast was absolute carnage. There was long waits for everything even just a drink. There was no food available as there was far too many people in at the same time in such a small area. We ended up waiting for 25 minutes and then just left without breakfast and went elsewhere.

DDavidIf you stay at a Premier Inn bring a toilet brush! I use Premier Inn quite a lot - convenient, comfortable and value for money. Not this time! There seems to have been a change in corporate policy, for the worse. The card that I got when checking in told me that I could get my room made up by informing Reception before 12:00, which I did. Upon my return to the room nothing had been done! Reception then informed me that their head office policy now was for stays longer than one night, rooms would only be made up after 5 days! Fortunately they found some clean towels, replacement tea bags and a toilet brush. Someone from the bar then helped me make up the room and clean the bathroom. Top marks for staff helpfulness but no marks for corporate cleanliness.

GGuest UserWas my first time at Premier Inn and i was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Since there are two hotels on site, I wasn’t sure which ones i was to be in so my Uber driver had to wait while i went inside the hotel. I walked right past the reception desk ( easy to miss bc its so small) and went to kiosk but wasn’t being successfully with it. So teh employee at teh reception desk came over and asked if her could help and checked me in in a heartbeat, allowing me to dismiss the Uber driver. Then the same employee not only helped me with my luggage, but took it up in the elevator for me, and the whole time he explained the amenities of the hotel. Once we reached my room, he continued to show me how the key and electricity works, etc. He also arranged for my airport shuttle in the morning. I’m sorry I can’t remember his name but he was excellent on customer service!!! The room was large and clean as was the bathroom. The TV automatically turned itself on and I had a hard time finding how to turn it off- no instructions or remote, etc. Although I didn’t use the coffee supplies, the fact that you had liquid milk/creamer for the coffee was a pleasant surprise. My only complaint was that the bed was too soft and the pillows too hard. I also could have I used a blanket and top sheet but turned on the heat instead to be comfortable. I did not use the restaurant or order any room service.

GGuest UserA good, clean hotel about 20 minutes drive from city centre. Staff were nice and helpful. Good food served in restaurant, although it was slightly overpriced for some dishes (nearly £8 for a small bowl of soup, for example). Semi-secure car parking available on site (spaces rather narrow, so you risk getting your car damaged), but just parked in nearby street as it was much easier. Lots of people fail to acknowledge the one-way drive system at front entrance. False fire alarm at 1am took too long to be investigated and have the system reset. One of the lifts wasn’t fully operational. The plug in the bath didn’t fit properly, so had to rely on shower.

KkennynoelAfter a slight hiccup of not being able to get in.... (We had no code for the front door, or any communication there would be a code for the front door)...After calling the support number a few times finally got through and was given the entry code. Then we needed to guess what room we were staying in and the code for that door. Other people would have lost it by then but I rang back and was helped again. The room itself was just as described. Nice touch with the food left by the kettle. Shower was delightful. 10am check out was a bit early... Bit we were leaving before 10 so it didn't matter to us. But might to others. If your booking here. Make sure you have both codes before you arrive and everything will be fine.
