A hotel worth recommending. Close to the highway. Purely. Nice service. A restaurant with good food. Large parking lot. Buffet breakfast. The rooms include towels, a board, an iron, a hairdryer, air conditioning, a fridge, TV, WiFi, and a very comfortable bed.

Needed convenient stopping point from Surrey to Chestefield, one night, for a funeral. Location ideal. Despite proximity to M1 itself, road noise was not excessive. Receptionist was really welcoming; gave me a choccie bar and bottle of water. You can stroll to the services for Mcdonald's or Costa - and WH Smith etc, (if open). . The overall decor is a bit 'tired' but everything was clean, bed fresh, coffee/tea facilities. Would have preferred the radio to be fitted by the bedside not table across the room (!). Freeview TV quite adequate for one night........ Bedroom was huge (guess it would double up as a family room at times) - and possibly I could have taken my dog with me, in which case the extra space was great. For functionality cannot fault.

Fantastic service from the moment I rang & spoke to Amanda the event coordinator , desperate to find a venue to accommodate my parents golden wedding anniversary ! The customer service & all the requests were met exceptionally , I couldn’t fault them ! Jamie , one of the waitresses was amazing , helping me create the most perfect afternoon tea for 44 people . Nothing was too much trouble, the food & drinks was faultless & lots of compliments from family & friends. All in all i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend & use this venue & team again 😊

We had a wonderful one night stay at The View, we were so impressed as soon as we arrived as to how spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated our room was. We were lucky with the weather that evening and were able to relax and enjoy the fabulous view of the surrounding countryside. It was our wedding anniversary and we had a superb dinner in the restaurant, every course was delicious. All the staff we met were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Breakfast the following morning was freshly cooked and very tasty with plenty of choices. The White Horse is in a great location, lovely and quiet, we slept really well, but not far from so many places of interest, Bakewell was only a short drive away as was Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall. We would thoroughly recommend The View at The White Horse and hope to stay there again.

Breakfast buffet is quite good. I feel at home. The scenery and atmosphere are just perfect. I think the inside of the hotel is clean.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my lifetime The good points are very limited but here they are: Friendly staff Plenty of parking at rear of the building Comfortable beds Very good quality towels Can open the window in the room Room clean and tidy And here are the bad points: Very dated Stained and tread bearing carpets on stairs Poor lighting Bath - shower curtain very dirty needs replacing and water is too hot when it comes out - be aware Not a lot clothes hangers On main road Unable to get soya milk for my room. They will bring the milk for breakfast was the answer I got and no decaf coffee in the room (I did bring some decaf coffee myself which I had to use at breakfast too as it was not available) No sound proofing to the room People on the corridor floor when I returned to my room as the children were sleeping in the room and they were not ready for bed. Never experienced this at any hotel I have stayed at before No toiletries supplied Half rolls of toilet paper No bath mat - had to use one of the hand towels Very noisy fan in the bathroom Let’s start on the breakfast which is served from 8am to 10am only Poor breakfast won’t change anything like the eggs even if you have dietary restrictions No decaf coffee at the breakfast room did get the soya milk Some of the fruit passed it best date High sugar cereals No yoghurt Poor choices for breakfast Croissants very dry and not warm at all The main restaurant on your right when you enter the building is bright and modern, it’s a shame that the rest of the building is not like that This hotel is worse than the hotel in the tv show Faulty Towers if remember that show Would I return to this place? NEVER
