We were in town for a concert with my child, and the hotel staff proactively called us beforehand to confirm our check-in details. We arrived at the hotel around 11 PM, and the front desk staff were incredibly quick with the check-in process, which was a huge relief after a long day of travel!
Moving on to the room, we had a river view room this time. It was quite spacious and impeccably clean. For example, the electric kettle was spotless, inside and out – no water stains whatsoever. This really matters to someone like me who's a bit particular about cleanliness. The bedding was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect, offering just the right amount of support without being too soft.
Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to the breakfast. I honestly didn't have high expectations, but the breakfast at MGM Shanghai truly blew me away! Unlike the standard, often unremarkable breakfasts at many star hotels, the selection here was incredibly rich and diverse. They had a live noodle station (the scallion oil noodles are a must-try!), freshly prepared seafood congee, and preserved egg and lean pork congee – all tasting absolutely delicious. Especially when compared to another five-star hotel we stayed at the very next day, even my daughter couldn't help but exclaim, 'I really miss MGM's breakfast!'

This was another stay at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai Yin Xing, a movie-themed hotel.
The hotel boasts an excellent location, situated at the intersection of Fahua Zhen Road and Panyu Road, where the Changning, Xuhui, and Jing'an districts converge. It's right next to the Shanghai Film Art Center, with a direct corridor from the hotel lobby leading straight to the cinema. The Dolby surround sound movie experience there is incredibly immersive.
Due to work, I've stayed at Yin Xing multiple times and experienced various room types. Floors 9-12 feature recently renovated movie-themed rooms, while floors 21 and above are executive floors. Some rooms on the 15th and 16th floors are equipped with electric massage chairs. King beds are 2 meters wide, and twin beds are 1.3 meters wide each. The hotel is very popular and often fully booked, so even if you're traveling solo, getting a room with two 1.3-meter twin beds is perfectly acceptable. The hotel also recently introduced special camping-themed King rooms.
Beyond the guest rooms, the dining options are another major highlight at Yin Xing. The breakfast spread is incredibly extensive, offering a buffet with a mix of Western and Chinese dishes, along with delicious local Shanghai specialties. If your budget allows for it, I highly recommend booking directly or paying a discounted upgrade fee at the front desk for an executive room or suite. This comes with all executive privileges, including breakfast and the highly-rated buffet dinner at the InterContinental Shanghai. Members also receive a welcome drink at the lobby bar.
Highly recommended!

Satisfactory accommodation. Newly renovated hotel and apartment. I stayed in an apartment, a one-bedroom suite, which was convenient and comfortable. When I checked in, the staff was warm and polite. I would like to praise them and thank them.
You need to swipe your room card to go upstairs, which is safe.
The big bed is not too hard or too soft. Although the bathroom is not separated into three parts, there is a door in the shower room. The privacy is good. The toiletries (4-piece set) are also said to be branded, smell good and easy to use.
The quality of bathrobes and slippers is very good, and the aunt changes them every day. Impeccable.
There is a washing machine with drying in the outer room, and drinks are also provided in the refrigerator. Good reviews!!!
The waiter is warm and thoughtful. I would like to express my sincere gratitude here!!!
The breakfast is also very rich. The homemade yogurt is delicious.
It is a little far from Yishan Subway Station. But walking is within an acceptable range. There is a Guangqi City at Yishan Station, with supermarkets and restaurants. Life around is also very convenient.
Disadvantages:
1. The floor is low, and the fan outside the window is a bit noisy, not obvious during the day, but a little more obvious at night.
2. The hot water in the bathroom is not strong enough (I personally like a large amount of water)

Absolutely the best choice for concert-goers! The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the concert venue, which was a huge relief since we didn't have to worry about finding a taxi after the show. The front desk staff knew we were there for the concert and even thoughtfully offered complimentary fruit upon check-in. The room had excellent soundproofing, so we didn't have to worry about disturbing anyone even when we returned late. After the concert, we were absolutely exhausted, so being able to quickly return to such a comfortable environment was pure bliss! We'll definitely be back!

For my staycation in Shanghai this time, I opted for a deluxe king room in the Executive Wing. Situated on a street corner, its windows offered views of a picturesque six-way intersection, beautifully lined with lush plane trees. A guided tour revealed that the historic building was renovated in 2020. Its interior design and color palette strongly evoke 1930s Art Deco, while the facilities are thoroughly modern. I was particularly impressed by the classic-looking yet smart air conditioning and lighting controls, and the Dyson hairdryer in the bathroom.
The executive lounge features a terrace, ideal for intimate gatherings with friends. The attendant was elegant and welcoming, and had thoughtfully prepared bilingual maps of the surrounding area and guide booklets for guests. Adjacent to the lounge is a small museum, currently showcasing an exhibition on Art Deco in Shanghai, perfect for a solo exploration or for introducing friends to the city's rich history.
The Hengshan Hotel, a landmark in Xujiahui, truly lives up to its reputation. I particularly recommend the Executive Wing for its unique and irreplaceable ambiance as a historic building.
Needless to say, its prime location in the city center is a major highlight. For breakfast over the past few days, I thoroughly explored the nearby culinary scene, enjoying everything from local staples like soy milk and fried dough sticks, xiaolongbao, and glutinous rice rolls, to wontons, pork chops, and treats from the famous Ruby's bakery.

The Jinglai Hotel is located in Shanghai's Xujiahui District, a vibrant area with a distinctly old Shanghai vibe, and is just about 100 meters from Xujiahui Metro Station. On-site parking is convenient, and though a fee applies (around 19 RMB/day), it's considered very affordable for Shanghai. While some might find it unusual for hotels to charge for guest parking (a thought I shared on my first Shanghai visit), it's quite common in the 'Magic City' where different rules often apply. Rooms are compact, but the bedding is great and the mattress very comfortable. The front desk staff were proactive and helpful, even offering advice to save money. Breakfast was good and offered a decent variety. Overall, it offers excellent value for money. Additionally, the Jingyan Shanghai restaurant on the second floor serves delicious and reasonably priced local cuisine, especially the Yan Du Xian (salted pork and bamboo shoot soup), which was exceptionally tasty. Next time I visit Shanghai, I'll definitely stay at Jinglai again and dine at Jingyan!

A very satisfying staycation.
We were lucky enough to choose a corner suite. The curved floor-to-ceiling windows offer a breathtaking view of the entire Xinhua Road neighborhood. The fabric sofa was very comfortable. The living room connected to a large balcony planted with flowers.
The bedroom window features an ergonomically designed PG bathtub. The room amenities are highly intelligent, including a smart toilet, induction cooktop, washing machine, projection TV, Bluetooth speaker, and electric heating pad. The bathroom and window-side vanity are equipped with two Dyson hairdryers and a variety of hair dryers.
The complimentary mini-bar was well-stocked, with glass bottles of Evian water. The symbolic guest guide and amenity packaging are very stylish. The guest room books are also a permanent asset of Shanghai Film Studio. For laundry, the hotel can provide laundry pods.
Inspired by the ”72 Guests” concept, each of the 72 rooms has a custom-designed key card, along with a card holder and fruit as a welcome gift. Customized gold-stamped text is available and can be quickly produced.
Artwork is everywhere in the public areas. The 24-hour gym, fully equipped with Technogym equipment, was rarely used, and the water dispenser dispensed sparkling water directly from the gym. The lack of a swimming pool was a slight disappointment. The executive lounge and library on the second floor are open to all guests and are quiet and uncrowded.
Breakfast, open until 2 PM, is perfect for a weekend stay. Since there were not many guests, the staff seemed more present. The à la carte dishes, such as egg omelet, wontons, and healthy small dishes, were all excellent. The restaurant's design is elegantly metallic and Republican-era, complementing the greenery outside the window.
In the evening, we found numerous small white bugs on the air conditioning control panel and clothes hangers in our room, and we reminded the staff to clean them upon check-out.
We had a pre-check-in call the day before our stay. The receptionist was very welcoming and escorted us to our room, providing a detailed explanation of the hotel and rooms. The doorman greeted us as we entered and exited.
Although the price was not cheap, it was still a good value overall.

Good things first: location is good as it’s close to metro and near Jiajia tang bao! Staff were really pleasant and friendly!
However the room layout is awful! The showroom is right next to the front door which means the bath mat needs to be placed right next to the door where it’s most likely to be dirty. And if you happen to open the door at the same time when someone enters, good luck with door smashing and no privacy! Next to the shower cubicle is the toilet which is facing the mirror and the toilet door is made of glass! So if the lights are on and someone is sitting on the toilet, what a view for another person in the room to observe! And we were travelling with a young kid so extra trouble! The light panel was on the same level with the bed which wasn’t an obvious problem until lights suddenly turned on three times between midnight and 2am, I figured it was caused by our pillows slightly overhanging above the control panel! So many careless design flaws that makes our stay very stressful.
The worst is that the smoke detector was wrapped by toilet tissue! Clearly the previous guests had found a way to deactivate the smoke detector to have a cigarette! Had anyone carried out basic inspection this would have been fixed but clearly there is lack of supervision and management.
Overall I do not recommend especially when travelling with family or care for privacy.

MM250157****Every holiday, our family travels and stops in many places. It is rare that we are so satisfied that we are willing to take the time to write a review. First of all, the room is very clean and easy to live in; secondly, I have to praise the superior location. Turn left when you go out and you will see the Wukang Building. You will find Wukang Road and Anfu Road. It takes less than 20 minutes to walk to Xujiahui Academy and you will pass Jiaotong University along the way. It is also very close to the subway station, and the famous breakfast restaurant is right at the door. After staying for four days, I regretted not booking more days directly. It's quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle, and you can easily cook and do laundry. It's really a good choice for family travel! The only slight regret is that the pillow was too high and too fluffy. My neck hurt after sleeping for a few days. But in fact, it is also my fault that I did not communicate with the landlord. As long as there is a need, the landlord will actively solve it. Anyway, thumbs up, see you soon!

MM2b4jr1kb****My recent stay at the Hanting Hotel far exceeded my expectations – it absolutely deserves full marks! Firstly, the location is incredibly convenient. Whether for business or exploring local eateries and shops, the surrounding transportation and amenities are excellent, saving both time and hassle.
The room itself was strikingly clean and tidy. The bedding was soft and comfortable, allowing me to quickly relax and enjoy a deep sleep until morning. The bathroom featured a well-designed wet-dry separation, and the toiletries were of high quality, showing thoughtful touches in every detail.
The service was an absolute highlight. From the warm and efficient check-in process at the front desk to the staff's prompt response whenever I had a need, their attitude throughout was consistently courteous and professional, with no hint of being perfunctory.
Overall, the value for money is outstanding. The next time I visit this city, Hanting Hotel will undoubtedly be my top choice, and I'll gladly recommend it to any friends who are looking for accommodation!

GGuest UserHad a great stay here. A great place to stay if you are looking to get a feel of the local Shanghai vibes. It is nestled between some old local apartments, and the area is gated with its own security. You will barely see any tourists in the area, there are many shops, restaurants, mini markets, fruits and vegetable shops and even shops selling fresh fish nearby. There are also some very local massage shops nearby that provide very good massages for reasonable prices (there are also some luxury ones too if it suits your budget. The metro is short 10 minutes walk away, if you don't feel like walking its easy getting around with DIDI.
Overall, i loved staying in this neighbourhood!

GGuest UserThe door lock was broken, I called someone to fix it, but they said they were on break, and they didn't come back to ask about it anymore. The service was perfunctory. I used a hair dryer to blow dry my hair, but I accidentally knocked the nozzle off, and it fell into the gap between the sink and the floor. I went to hook it out, but I ended up hooking out a pair of slippers without feet, which were left by the last guest. It was so obvious that they didn't clean the door carefully. There's nothing else to say. Robots can deliver takeout, but I just ask you waiters to wipe and disinfect the place where you put takeout in the robot every day. It's so dirty that I can't even recognize it! ! That's it, I won't go there again!

GGuest UserThe room was clean, the bed was a bit hard, and the staff were very attentive and proactive in helping! It is very convenient to stay near the subway station. I will consider staying here next time. There is also a rest area next to the lobby, where it is very comfortable to order takeout and have a midnight snack!
As it is close to the subway, there is inevitably some noise from the subway. Our room was far away from the door this time, which just reduced the noise impact.
It's a shame there's no elevator, but the staff will help carry your luggage upstairs!
