We had a great experience at El Fuego! The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a good meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, with a nice variety to choose from. Everything we ordered was satisfying and served fresh. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Harlan Beach Villa Boracay

9.5/10
Amazing

Amazing view. Superb service. Worth it! These are the words that can sum up our staycation at Harlan Beach Villa resort located at Station 1 in Boracay. The location is towards the end of Station 1 where there is more privacy and less crowd and you get to enjoy your own beachfront. The beach is literally 10 steps from the villa. We booked for 4 days, 3 nights and it was all worth it. First, the view! OMG! From sunrise to sunset, it just feels so surreal to have such a peaceful view of paradise. And the most amazing part is we get the best view of the sunset right in the villa. When it comes to service, OMG too! They are attentive to all our needs that you don’t need to ask them. They took care of us even to the point that wherever we go, one staff would accompany us to bring our stuff and if we go to enjoy water activities, they would also chaperone us, bring towels and water. And, the best part is we have our own private chef! He can literally cook whatever we are craving for even if it’s not in the menu. And man, the taste is just on point! We didn’t even dare to eat at other restaurants because why would we when we got the best chef! Harlan also offered us a complementary massage which made us feel even more relaxed. Overall, the experience was just amazing. You will definitely get what you pay for! It’s not cheap but it’s all worth it.

Blue Marina Boracay

The service was excellent, as expected of a COAST hotel. Every staff member was smiling and ready to assist every guest. They were responsive to requests and remembered guests' names, making guests feel respected. The room had everything they needed, but the facilities were quite old, the soundproofing was poor, and there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. I strongly suggest the hotel renovate it. It's about a five-minute walk to the beach.

So let's begin with the positives. The staff is excellent, beyond excellent they will go out of everything to make you feel accommodated. They are unbelievably attentive. Another positive aspect is its location which is literally right on the sand. Can't get much closer to the beach than this hotel. And did I mention that the staff was very accommodating? When you want to lounge on the beach, the staff will rush out immediately to position the lounges and put towels down. They truly work hard to assist your every need when you are on the beach. An improvement would be updated lounge chairs with cushions but you are not lounging on the sand unless you want to. So as I said, I want to start off with a positive but there are serious negatives about this hotel in fact to the point at which I would suggest booking a different hotel if at all possible. First on the list of negatives is that the food at the restaurant is less than mediocre. Yes you will get breakfast but in all honesty, you might just want to pass that up. Nothing is kept hot...nothing. Everything is served lukewarm or cold except for the eggs which they do make right away...the fresh cooked eggs is the only exception to luke-warm or in some cases even slightly undercooked food. However, what should be cold is never cold, for example even though the milk has a sign that says cold milk it is always room temperature as well as the juices. The cold milk is warm...always,,,,while the food that should be warm or hot is always cold or virtually well on its way to being cold. It's interesting that even though they have the small gas flame burners at the bottom of containers for food, they are never on. Additionally I would recommend that if you are not accustomed to luke-warm to cold Filipino style food again, you may want stay eat somewhere else because most of the food served is Filipino style and while Filipino food can be quite good, not here. Now for the accommodations. The rooms are at best motel style rooms with the AC blasting down on you constantly. Your only alternative is to turn the AC on and off throughout the night to get a break. The rooms themselves are rustic and extremely noisy because everything faces the courtyard and you have concrete surrounding you so it echoes in any conversation especially at night. Sound just echoes throughout the entire place. There is constant noise so bring your ear plugs. I will say, staff keeps everything very clean so no problems there at all. It's just that the entire facility is not well-designed or well maintained for most travelers' expectations. For example, The hot water in the shower it's turned on similar to a faucet bathtub style but the water literally trickles out (at least in my room). Fortunately you do get some hot water coming through the shower head and while it is barely enough to take a shower, it is not what you would expect at a hotel price. I selected this hotel because it has so many good reviews online and it has a lot of 10s out of10s. One site lists it as 4.9 out of 5, I thought that was great but after a few nights, I am convinced that these reviews are from the owners, owner friends or staff or perhaps all of them. It is completely beyond my imagination that this hotel can get those kinds of reviews especially as there are other hotels that are around to compare with. I have traveled a lot and this is probably not more then a five to six at most out of 10 and the only reason it's that high because of staff. Again....5.5 to 10 is my rating on this motel/hotel.

The Strand Boutique Resort

Great

We stayed as a couple in the penthouse. It was very spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. The style was a bit Balinese. It's located further and higher than all the other rooms. Sometimes monkeys would visit the nearby tree. The hotel has a cozy restaurant that serves excellent breakfasts. At other times, you can order from the menu. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and the price was average for Boracay. The hotel is located 200 meters from the sea on the first line. This is the best beach around. Regarding the downsides: it's situated between a construction site and a small cemetery. There's hardly any noise from the construction, and almost none from the cemetery either (okay, okay, it's totally quiet there! 😄). This might be an important detail for some, but otherwise, the hotel is top-notch. The service at the hotel is peculiar (lazy and inattentive), just like everywhere else in Boracay.

This time, I came to Boracay and stayed at this hotel! Although it's a bit far from the bustling area, they offer a free shuttle bus to get there. The staff are friendly, it's quiet at night, and the price is quite affordable for Boracay. I'm very satisfied with my stay here! If I ever go to Boracay again, I'd definitely want to repeat my stay at this hotel.

Reported issues include poor cleanliness, cockroach sightings, and unprepared room readiness at check-in. One guest review noted an instance of cockroaches in the bed, prompting an early check-out despite the location being praised. Another user noted a sarcastic remark from staff concerning transportation pricing, contributing to a negative service impression. Contrasting reviews from Google (via other aggregators) show a more mixed experience: One praised the helpful staff, clean rooms, fresh breakfast, and well-maintained lobby. Another cited serious issues like leaking ceilings and extra charges for linen cleaning. --- Summary: Is Wald’s Place a Good Choice?
