"The lady in charge was really nice and helpful, she offered to drink a tea and gave tips for food outside. She speaks rather good English to communicate on every needs. The room is quite small and cozy, well decorated and offers all we hoped to find. Notice that the mattress is absolutely comfortable. As only 5 people still live in the place, it’s really quiet and we slept very deeply. It’s possible to have Chinese typical breakfast at the basement in a lovely room apart, this was good, generous and healthy. First floor and 2nd you can visit a little museum room with old tools and furniture."

"Our little one wanted to see 'A Yuan's Home,' so we brought the picture book and came to stay. This guesthouse is located within the Tianluokeng Tulou Scenic Area in Nanjing. It's easy to find if you're driving, and personally, I found it even better than the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area – fewer crowds and stunning scenery. It's also very close to Taxia Village, which you can reach by cycling or walking. There, you can visit the 700-year-old Yuchang Lou, famously standing 'crooked but firm,' and grab a meal at the Xiaogqiao Liushui Restaurant. Just a heads-up if you're driving, be mindful of parking restrictions. Getting to Tianluokeng's iconic 'Four Dishes and One Soup' cluster is also super convenient, just a ten-minute drive. The Tulou are truly magnificent!
The guesthouse hostess is incredibly nice, and they have a lovely Golden Retriever named Xiao Chai, who is very friendly and well-behaved. We booked a duplex room with a living area downstairs and the sleeping area upstairs. It even came with a projector, which was a huge bonus! But the real highlight was the in-room washer-dryer combo – such a thoughtful and convenient amenity!"

"The B&B is right next to Heguilou, very close to the No. 6 bus station to and from Nanjing Shuiyunyao and the parking lot of the scenic spot. Boss Jian’s family is very accommodating and enthusiastic. They helped me with my luggage along the way, and reminded me in time of the camera at the counter. They even gave me the small scissors I wanted in the rain at night. The hotel is gone, but when I heard that my drone was blown up, I asked if I needed help to find it. This service awareness and attitude are awesome. The B&B is remodeled on the basis of a small earthen building, a bit like a small courtyard house. The interior decoration is very floral, elegant and casual, and a fruit tea tray and a box of exquisite tea are also provided, praise. In addition, the boss specially recommended me to take pictures in Huoshaolou, which is not far from Guilou, and the film was produced. Those who like to take pictures of starry sky and star trails strongly recommend staying in this place (it is estimated that it will be in the off-season, and we must discuss with the aborigines to turn off the lights).

"The Yunshui Yao Scenic Area is not very big. This homestay is very close to the waterwheel, just a few steps away. It is not too close to the scenic area and is located in a quiet area in a bustling city.
The aunties and uncles at the B&B were very welcoming. Although the breakfast was simple porridge, eggs and pickles, the pickles were pretty good. During breakfast, the uncle also introduced some cultural history of the Tulou.

The homestay is located in Taxia Village which is quieter and less commercialized in Tulou scenic areas that provide lots of privacy for the guests. The room and the building are located just next to the clear water stream. At night, I can even hear the stream of water flowing sounds. The villagers are very friendly to the tourists walking around. They are not pushy about selling any commercial products to tourists which is very contrast to the other commercializedTulou scenic areas. The owner/host is very hospitable, friendly, and helpful. This differentiates from the other hotel staying experience. I also got help on how to get around the Tulou scenic areas and where to get reasonable price restaurants from the host.

Friends who like quietness and leisure should not miss Taxia Village. The temperature is suitable, cool, very original and not very commercialized. The Firefly we stayed at this time is a store run by the couple with great care. We also let the boss arrange the food at Firefly. We told the boss how many people can eat and what the budget is, so we can go out and play with peace of mind. The meal in the picture only costs 200 yuan, tastes great and is very filling! ! What I like most is that there is a large platform to dry clothes, and you can lie on a chair and watch the stars in the sky at night! You can also see a lot of fireflies in June and July! The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Yunshuiyao, making it very convenient for sightseeing and getting around. It's a converted circular *tulou*, and having a private bathroom is quite a rare find for this type of accommodation, offering a truly unique stay. However, if you have high standards or specific requirements for your accommodation, you might want to consider carefully before booking.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing experience to live in the “chopsticks” buildings of the four dishes and one soup! This was a small and beautiful village and the family who ran the inn helped us carry our luggage up to the inn and later down to the inn. When we arrived they cooked a dinner which was reasonable in price based on a local menu. And then during dinner, they told us that one of the family members will be running a free tour of the Tulous of four dishes one soup for us in which they explained the history of the building of the tulous, especially the oval shaped tulou. Our guide was very funny with his stories (he spoke in Chinese) and it was a lovely time seeing the artists and candy makers in the Tulous. I would highly recommend this place. We did have to bring our own towels (or at least we brought our own and they didn’t supply one), so maybe best to check.

The water heater has a large capacity, so you can take a comfortable bath without any problem. It has its own parking lot and is very convenient for self-driving. The location of the B&B is very close to the viewing platform of Four Dishes and One Soup, which has the advantage of seeing the lights and entering the village at night. The landlady usually drinks tea in the front hall. When you pass by and she is free, she will invite you to drink tea and chat with her. The boss will tell you about travel strategies when he has free time, and even take you for a walk in person.

The owner's hospitality was outstanding. He proactively shared route suggestions that helped us avoid numerous inconveniences, saved significant costs, navigated tricky junctions, and led us to many distinctive sights, including fruit groves, forests, and tea fields.
Regarding the accommodations, it's important to remember this is a mountain setting, and with the recent rainy season, facilities are understandably modest. However, the pricing reflects this context and provides an authentic, rustic experience that urban hotels simply can't offer.
Above all, the food here is absolutely scrumptious! Dining in is a must to savor their delicious Hakka-style cuisine.
My biggest takeaway is the owner's genuine warmth and the wonderfully relaxing mountain environment, offering a perfect, temporary escape from the city's ceaseless clamor.

CCassie QianFun experience staying in a tulou! As the listing says, it's a shared bathroom outside the tulou structure and a plastic bucket outside your room if you need to pee in the middle of the night and don't want to go out far. Bring your own toilet paper and soap just in case they've run out in the shared bathrooms. The room itself was nice and ours on the top floor had a window. Power and wifi worked great. The hostess was super kind and brought us to our room, made sure we could find our way back, and offered us tea. I'd recommend for the unique experience!
