"My family had a great time at Sydney Central Hotel. The receptionists checked us in early and gave us a late checkout and there was a kid’s corner for my kids to play at. The room was quite retro and cozy, and the beds were very soft and comfortable to sleep in. The TV also had many nice channels that my kids enjoyed watching. Also, the breakfast was delicious and there was a fruit juice machine there. The bathtub was good. Lotion was provided. Corridor has funny smell. The Landry room was very useful. However, the swimming pool was very small. No slippers, no water provided. Toothbrush on request."

"The hotel was completely and meticulously renovated. 😀 I am blown away by the sleek and simple yet modern and elegant hotel lobby . The high ceiling and the bricks give a voluminous feel. The hotel reception very friendly and proactive. The room floor consistent in terms of design and use of colour. Very eye soothing. The location unbeatable and surrounded by heaps of eateries and shops. Distance to central station only 5 min by foot. Super nice hotel and will come back"

"Central Mandela Hotel is in the city center, very conveniently located! It is less than 10 minutes walk from the train station. Take the intercity train L8 line from the airport to the central Station train station, and then walk to the hotel. The day trip meeting place is also at this train station. There is a light rail line 1/2/3 at the hotel entrance, which can go to Darling Harbour. The ticket is 2.75 and it takes 5 minutes. There is a small platform in the room for ventilation, and the room is spacious and bright. Before leaving, please ask the front desk to ask for a taxi to the airport for 46 Australian dollars. The service is very good. The air conditioning in the room is easy to use, and there is a microwave and a stove to cook some simple meals. There are bowls and plates. There is a large supermarket in the market city opposite, which has everything! There is an Italian restaurant 100 meters walk from Mandela, which serves super delicious pizza and pasta. There is a seafood restaurant diagonally opposite, which is very expensive. A 1.1 kg Australian lobster costs 320 Australian dollars, and there is an additional fee for noodles."

"I stayed in a 6-person room for girls. There were several large windows, which provided plenty of light. The room was not crowded, the mattress was comfortable, and someone came to clean the room every day. The roommates were friendly. The kitchen was large and convenient for cooking. The location of the hotel was very convenient, close to Chinatown and the market. The food and drinks were good. The staff was friendly and the stay was very comfortable. The free breakfast was not very rich, but it basically met the needs. It was enough and fresh. I will come again next time. It is economical and affordable."

"The location of the stay was close to everything. Easy access to paddy market, china town and town hall. The bed was good but the restroom and shower room was too small. You can just do the same position for the entire shower and is easy to get all your change cloth wet as well due to the small area in the shower place."

"My recent 7-day stay. While the location of the hotel is fantastic and made our trip convenient, there were some concerns regarding cleanliness that I feel need to be addressed. During our stay, my husband and I noticed that the cleanliness of the room, particularly the bedding, did not meet expectations. We were uncertain if the sheets were changed during our stay hence made a request at the front desk that our bedding needs to be changed. On several occasions, after returning to our room late in the evening, we found that the sheets were still dirty, which was quite disappointing. As guests on holiday, we expected a certain level of cleanliness, particularly with something as fundamental as bed linens. Unfortunately, we were too tired to address it with the front desk at the end of long days. We ended up sleeping on just one side of the bed. I believe that with a little more attention to detail in housekeeping, this could be an area for significant improvement. Cleanliness is one of the most basic expectations when staying at a hotel, and I hope this feedback helps ensure future guests do not encounter similar issues."

"Has stayed a few times here, always preferred to stay here because of the access to a kitchen and laundry. However, this experience is the worst I had. Was sick during one of the days (had diahorrea and fever) and one of the days there, the water was out, couldn't flush the toilet. Called reception but couldn't get to them so waited from early to late morning to get the plumbing fixed. Next, the light dropped and water started seeping out when I on the aircon. Had just walked passed the cooridor so fortunately missed it if not the light would have hitted my head."

"Excellent location with easy access to public transport, supermarket, restaurants etc. Apartments are spacious. Our booking was for limited housekeeping service, but even so, the staff only tidied up once in our 8 night stay. No vacuuming or cleaning of bathroom floor, only change of towels, amenities and emptying of bins."

Great
KKathhhLocation: Located in Haymarket, very close to Central Train Station and Haymarket Light Tram Station, there are bunch of restaurants and supermarkets (just within 3-10 mins walk) around the area which is very convenient for quick access to food, coffee/drinks and groceries. Reception: Reception is very welcoming and friendly, also they provide services like help collecting letters and packages, printing services (1 copy is free yet multiple copies charge $0.2 per page), coin exchange etc. There’s a great open area in front of the reception where you can find sofas and a long workstation available for people to rest and work, the design is also very good. Facilities: There’re a café (Roy’s Café), a bar/club (Side Bar) and a travel agency (Travel Up!) in the building, making my stay very accessible to all the things I need be it coffee or drinks or a travel advice. Kitchen: Kitchen is on the 1/F, it’s relatively spacious. There’re 2 huge fridges and a locker wall for us to store our food. There’re total 8 stoves, 4 sinks, 3-4 microwaves, 1 oven and 1 hot water tap where you can have boiling hot water right away. All utensils are provided so that’s very convenient. Overall the kitchen area has exceeded my expectations. Dorm area: My dorm is on the 4th floor, it’s relatively quiet. And because we’ll need our badges to access the elevator so the security is quite good as well. From the picture you can tell the dorm and hallway are clean enough, also the bathroom is very clean just I didn’t take a picture but it’s clean and comfortable. Also I love the interior design which made it looks aesthetic in a clean way. Just sometimes the dorm room might smells a little bit if your roommates bring in something smelly cuz you’re not able to open the window and the AC is not strong enough. Laundry: There’s also a laundry room each floor, 2 washing machines ($6 each wash, if you need laundry detergent from the reception that will be another $1) and 2 dryers ($4 each use) are equipped, they are big enough to consume a lot of clothes at once which is very good. It could get quite busy at night so I suggested to set an alarm when doing your laundry if you don’t want your clothes being taken out by others. Events: There are free / cheap events every day and every night, if you are a social person you’ll love it. All the volunteers and staff there are really welcoming and they will knock your door to give you invitations, I really love their enthusiasm! Been to wine and cheese night on a Wed night, vibes is good. So definitely recommend this hostel if you love meeting new people through events. After it’s definitely a great stay at Wake Up! Sydney Central and I’d recommend it to people who love a vibrant hostel environment like this.

BBim VlogPerfect location and clean hostel. The beds are comfortable and clean. They have personal luggage storage in the shared room just bring your padlock . Toilets are great with hot and cold showers. However, they don't have bidet, so if you're someone who uses bidet, then this place is not for you. They also have a good kitchen to cook your favorite dishes. The staff are good they are friendly and accommodating. I just don't like their strict check out policy. I was at the toilet and exceeded 5min before checking out, but when I tried to open the shared room to get my luggage, I could not open it anymore they deactivated the keycard already which is really rude. Maybe you can give consideration when it comes to checkout time.

JJody’sWe enjoyed our stay at Novotel Darling Square. The young guy who checked us in was lovely, welcoming and very helpful. The lady that checked us out was also extremely pleasant. We didn’t use the facilities but did check out the pool which looked pretty good. The room was smart and clean, the bed was very comfortable and having a nice big TV was great as we chilled in the room the first night we stayed and streamed a movie from Netflix on my phone. Maccas was right opposite so it was an easy meal on night one. The position was awesome. With a short pleasant stroll to darling harbour for lunch and right by China Town for dinner on our stroll back from watching a musical at the Capitol Theatre. Would be happy to stay here again.

VVSingWhen I booked two Deluxe Family Rooms at Furama Darling Harbour for a 6-day stay with family, I had high hopes for comfort, convenience, and a pleasant experience. Here’s how it went. Location: Convenient, but Parking Woes The location of Furama Darling Harbour is undoubtedly one of its highlights. Nestled within walking distance of numerous restaurants offering cuisines from all over the globe, it was a food lover's dream. Finding the hotel wasn’t a challenge either, thanks to clear signage and central placement. However, the parking situation? That’s another story. The hotel doesn’t have an on-site parking lot. Instead, we had to park about a five-minute walk away, which isn’t ideal when lugging bags or dealing with Sydney’s occasional drizzle. Plus, the cost added up—$244 AUD for six days. If parking convenience matters to you, it’s worth factoring this in. Cleanliness: Mixed Experiences Cleanliness was... average, to say the least. While the first day seemed fine, housekeeping didn’t exactly shine as the stay went on. On Day 2, we were surprised (and not in a good way) to find dirty towels left after the room was cleaned. Fast forward to Day 5, and we found toilet paper and stray hairs under the blanket after housekeeping had supposedly “refreshed” the space. Not exactly the five-star housekeeping you’d hope for. To be fair, we didn’t raise the issue with reception that evening—it was our last night, and we figured housekeeping staff would already be off-duty. But, as a guest, you shouldn’t have to weigh these options. Service: Quick and Friendly, But a Breakfast Mishap Service at Furama Darling Harbour was a bright spot overall. The staff were warm, responsive, and accommodating, whether it was resolving issues with the TV or bringing up extra towels. That said, we hit a snag with the included breakfast. Our booking clearly stated breakfast for four people per room, which should have covered eight of us across two rooms. Yet, when we went down, they claimed the booking only covered four breakfasts total. After some back-and-forth with both hotel staff and Trip’s customer service, the issue was resolved. But it wasn’t exactly a stress-free start to the day. Facilities: Functional, But Nothing Fancy The gym was basic but functional—a single machine covering major muscle groups, though no free weights were in sight. It’s fine if you’re just looking to get in a quick workout. The laundry room was handy, though a bit pricey: $5 AUD each to wash and dry, plus $3 AUD for detergent. Breakfast, while initially enjoyable, became repetitive after two days. A buffet should ideally offer more variety, but here the options changed only slightly. Updating the in-room TVs to include smart features wouldn’t hurt either; it felt like the tech was stuck in the past. Rooms: Spacious and Comfortable Now, for the standout feature—the rooms. They were impressively spacious, with plenty of room for our luggage and still enough space to move around comfortably. The beds? Absolute heaven. I slept like a rock every night, with no noise disturbances or distractions. The bathroom mirrored this sense of space, steering clear of that cramped, claustrophobic feeling that some hotels suffer from. It’s refreshing to stay somewhere that values comfort this much. Final Thoughts: Worth a Stay, Despite Flaws Would I recommend Furama Darling Harbour? Absolutely, especially for families. The spacious rooms, friendly service, and fantastic location make it a strong contender. Yes, cleanliness and parking could use improvement, but the positives—comfortable beds, quiet nights, and accommodating staff—outweigh the negatives. If you can overlook a few quirks and minor inconveniences, Furama offers a good home base for exploring Sydney. Just be ready for some parking acrobatics and keep an eye on those housekeeping details!

RRoyale CheeseI usually do not post reviews, but I had to this time to share my experiences. I stayed for a total of 5 nights, Tue and check out on Sunday(7-12 Feb 2023) Plus point -Location is really good , plenty of thai/chinese restaurants and room is huge. -Bed is comfortable, -Yoshie is one that was one more friendly staff that I remembered her name , please give her a raise or wine on me.(she is a Japanese, in case i got her name wrong) Hotel staff, is a on and off experience. The night ones tend to be more ”cold” and the day ones are much better.( again, Yoshie was the ”better” ones, there are more, but I couldnt remember their name) Now on to the exciting part... Tuesday- Checkin day, A smooth day but without hand towels and when I asked for them before leaving the place for a concert. ( they claim they were in laundry or something and I find it hard to believe for a 5 star accommodation) We were without a frying pan as well( they send it up though when i called for it) Wed- Requested for toothbrush/Toiletries and had to request again after waiting for more than an hour, as it was forgotten ,I presumed Thu- Requested to change towel when we went out in morning, nothing was done when we were back in evening. I especially informed the morning reception guys to not forget it, but someone in the middle must have forgotten it. Evening time, The staff upon informing said they will have it there in 10 mins, which they did. By the way, the phone became faulty but I didn't bother to inform as I thought I wont have much trouble with it not in use. I was wrong. Friday- The express cleaning end-up with all the towels taken away and, thats it. We found out when we were back in evening. We were left with no towels and on top of that the phone was not working so I had to go downstairs to inform the reception/staff , on night shift i suppose. Again they said would be there in 10 mins, which more or less they did. Saturday- There was a huge cockroach and I had to kill it myself, informed the staff downstairs but honestly I dont expect change of room or anything, just to feedback. From the above, you can see there were full of dramas and I think these are basic expectations.(especially the towel part) Would I be back there if I ever go Sydney again? Unlikely.

PPeter LevarreStayed overnight after arriving from overseas, it was a little hard to find due to lack of signage facing central railway. Recieption was fantastic, the manager obviously loved his job and was excellent at treating us and processing out Trip.com booking. It is a wonder that a bigger hotel hasn’t snapped him up! Will stay there again on our next trip. The location, price and service was great, very quiet considering  it’s on a Main Street and only a short walk to Haymarket (China Town) right across from Central Station
