"The hotel is near the lake, which makes its location ok if you are willing to visit it. If you would go to the downtown, then the location is terrible because it takes an hour to arrive by car. Around the hotel there’s not much.
The room is nice with planty of amenities (kitchenware, washing machine, etc.) but not super clean (found hair in the bathtub).
Breakfast is not up to the standards and it’s quite poor.
Swimming pool is okish, nothing fancy and not very deep (just 1.2m). The guy working there staring at you all the time is not pleasant too.

"I absolutely loved my stay at the Royal Garden Hotel. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the service is great and the staff is helpful, kind and friendly. On my first day I ordered food to my room and because it was busy (May holiday rush) my food took a while to arrive but the duty manager Mr King came to assure me that, that's not the kind of service I should expect from them going forward and to apologize for the delay. Needless to say, I enjoyed my full stay there without any problems. The front desk staff was also helpful whenever I needed help with anything. I'll definitely visit again."

"We booked a garden parent-child twin suite. The children loved it very much, especially the cute animal-shaped drawers and trash cans designed in wooden houses. The hotel bathtub was equipped with a little duck, and they all had a great time taking a bath. In addition, there is a large balcony where the family can dine and chat quietly. The hotel is very clean and the service is friendly. I highly recommend staying here. The hotel also has a large swimming pool. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring our swimsuits and were unable to enjoy the facilities. We hope that we can come back next time and visit the theme park next to it."

TThomasThis hotel has some very good features that I was very happy with and some less important issues that are not deal breakers.
First, the very good: USB charge ports (USB-A, USB-C) on both sides of the bed; absolute black-out curtains keep the room totally dark; both firm and soft pillows supplied; controllable air-conditioning/heating; a window that can be opened; stable temperature hot water; friendly staff; fantastic location (quiet, clean neighborhood, lots of restaurants, close to metro); large shower area with choice of shower head; firm (but not rock-hard) mattress; four bottles of drinking water supplied each day; and, most importantly, all rooms are non-smoking. This last point is more common in the major cities but not expected in Dongguan. (Beware of other hotels with ”some non-smoking rooms” - this means that both smoking AND not smoking in these rooms is permitted.) I did not sample the breakfast menu. The not-so-good in the room is the limited control of internal room lighting. The minimal setting is bright enough for most use and there is no way to set the internal lighting very low. There is no pen/paper supplied, and no phone in the room. You are expected to use WeChat to communicate with front-desk. The good thing about this is WeChat's builtin translation facility. The staff don't speak English (and neither do I expect them to as this isn't really a hotel for foreign travelers). There is a self-service laundry with four washing machine and drier sets on level 3A. These are free to use and (apparently) have self-dosing detergent. I never had to wait to use this facility. Level 3A (the forth floor, in reality) is shared by the hotel with a billiards club so the hotel lifts are often occupied with non-hotel customers who do smoke, so this level can smell stale at times. (I stayed on another floor and experienced no issues with air quality. In summary, I would certainly stay here again the next time I visit Dongguan.

HHyouwaThe room I booked was an executive suite. It was large. It had two large rooms, a large bathroom and a walk in closet and a separate toilet. The decor is a little dated. But this did not make it feel any less grand. The previous hotel was more modern but this room is grander in scale.
the bedroom had a panoramic view of the city. We were on the 15th floor. The elevator was fast and would get you from 1 to 15 in 20 seconds.
The bathtub could be enjoyed in the dark with the blinds lifted something I took advantage of each day.
The toilets are not smart which I got used to in my previous hotel. But they did the job.
The shower had good water pressure, the rainfall shower was installed into the ceiling and it had great intensity.
The shampo, conditioner and gel were great and the toothpaste was Colgate.
There were some amenities listed but we're not available during our stay such as the executive lounges and bars, but the staff explained all the benefits could be enjoyed in the dining hall. There is a onsite pool, gym and sauna on the 5th floor along with a spa. I did not get to try the pool as I had no swim wear. But you could rent if you wanted.
The buffet breakfast and dinner was all very good with a lot of options. The freshly cooked noodle and grill station were amazing. I would recommend arriving when it starts or an hour into service as sometimes they begin to pack up before the service is closed.
Drinks were unlimited and so was the self serve gelato, which I frequented
The room was non-smoking and free from smells as requested which is a plus and I am thankful for, as this could ruin the experience for me and my pregnant partner.
The staff were all very welcoming and would greet us every day. Amenities and towels were replenished
The interior of the hall was grand the dining hall was decorated, high ceilings and lots of lights secured behind a safety net.
Dongguan I did not get to see much of. But it's a city that is in the midst of development with new metros being planned and in the midst of being built. I am excited to see how it changes.
Our stay was short but it is indeed one of our most memorable hotels. One due to the size and grandeur of the room and the second was the service provided.

What truly elevated the experience, however, was the warm and attentive service—special thanks to Steven and Freya, who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality made every visit to the lounge delightful.
Overall Impression
Without a doubt, the InterContinental Dongguan stands as the best hotel in the city. Its combination of modern luxury, prime location, and outstanding service—especially from staff like Steven and Freya—makes it a top recommendation for both business and leisure travelers. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

GGuest UserThe room is consistent with the pictures in the online order, there is no false advertising or photo fraud, the room details are very good, the bedding and pillows are soft and cotton, the light is very good, the lobby smells good at the entrance, the sanitary environment is very good, the self-service washing machine and dryer are also very convenient, the sanitation is better than most hotels, the service is very good, the decoration and sanitation of the breakfast room are good, although the breakfast buffet is not very diverse, but complete, and its classification ensures balanced nutrition: various staple foods, fruits, vegetables, eggs, fried rice, and steamed buns.

MmeiwentiGreat Hotel with Excellent Facilities, But Poor Tennis Court Experience
We stayed at this hotel recently and overall had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is located just 700 meters from the metro, making it easy to reach. The property is spacious and includes an outdoor pool, indoor pool, sauna, gym, a tennis court (details below), a large dining hall, and two separate massage areas offering various treatments.
Room & Service:
The rooms are clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a larger room upon arrival. The staff were friendly and polite.
Food:
We’d rate the food 3.5 out of 5. The buffet is advertised as European, but the dishes lean heavily toward Chinese cuisine. Breakfast wasn’t to our taste, so we decided to skip dinner.
Massage:
There are two massage salons. We booked a foot massage, but the therapists ended up giving us an almost full-body massage, paying extra attention to sore areas. It was a wonderful experience — 5 out of 5.
Pools & Sauna:
Both pools are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you prefer fewer people, we recommend the indoor pool around 7 a.m. and the outdoor one around 2 p.m. The pools were clean and warm, and we appreciated the Swedish sauna in the locker room. Again — 5 stars.
Gym:
The gym is well-equipped and never crowded. Open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. — another 5 stars.
Tennis Court:
Unfortunately, this was the only major disappointment. Despite several attempts to book and show up at the scheduled time, no staff were present. Phone calls were ignored or we were told, “I don’t have time to talk.” We eventually got a refund (booked via *******), but the experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Rating: 1 out of 5.
Overall:
Aside from the tennis court issue, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel to others. Great amenities, clean rooms, and a peaceful environment.

GGuest UserWe usually go to the Babylon hotel, which is just across the street. As first time in this hotel, we can compare. In Kagas, you will get the best view here and the comfort of the bed is real.
The quality of the slippers feels like linen, they are very comfy. They can provide extra products/services for free (conditioner, hair tie, face tissue, pads for ladies, bathroom slippers and more..) this is truly appreciated. They take care of cleaning your clothes for free. The biggest inconvenience the smell.. advertised as non smoking, but it is not. You will smell smoke, specially if you choose an executive suite... No fridge. the worst is the smell in the bathroom, this is really disgusting.. :( I wish they just provided true information about this. Unfortunately the room designated for mahjong is really damaged, you can really see that carpet, chairs and sofa are degraded, because of this first look in the room feels very cheap. Another downfall is that even if you close all windows you will hear the circulation sound, they honk a lot so you don't have a quiet environment. Very few choices and dishes for breakfast, on this matter, Babylon wins, they provide more diverse and tasteful foods. to finish in positive note, in the hall of kagas, you have a fridge where you can get fresh bottles of water, in the evening there are bowls of porridge, it's self service. staff is helpful and very fast to help.

The Ibis Hotel in Dongguan is a hidden gem. This is our second time staying at this hotel, and we will definitely choose it again for our future visits to Dongguan. We opted for the panoramic room, which offers a bit more space. The room is well-equipped with all the essentials. Considering the price you pay, the value is exceptional. The breakfast provided is not only delicious but also offers a wide variety of options at a very reasonable price. The reception staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We adore this hotel and will definitely be returning in the future.

GGuest UserStay here before when it was run as holiday inn express. Everything is the same except the breakfast is on the 14th floor instead of the previous basement floor. Everything was good. Room cleaned everyday and all the toiletry provided. Location is in the center od the humen with all the shopping including walmart in the same building in the mall. Restaurants and tea is everywhere. Dim sum resturant right across the street next to dominos pizza. Rainbow mall is just another 5mins walk away. My go to place to stay when im in humen.

GGuest UserThe hotel is well located at Changping city center in Dongguan. It provided all basic amenities and is clean. However, I was disappointed that the windows could not open. There is still lingering smell of smoke in the room dispute it is supposed to be a non-smoking room in a non-smoking floor. Suggestions for improvement when your hotel is up for renovation: 1. Make windows that can be open for better ventilation. 2. Remove all carpets from all rooms so it is more sanitary and easier to keep clean. The carpets has many stain in them and emits odour. I want to compliment on the staffs of the hotel. They were very courteous and helpful. They helped made our stay pleasant.
