"Have to put a scanning system to the guest security,Zero at present,They don’t answer when asked,Hotel or the company AitkinSpence is only after your money,This is from my personal experience,After staying there during the Arugambai terrorist threat and the US,UK and few other countries issued a warning to their citizens,We are from the UK,We were concerned about it they just ignored us,Anyone could have carried explosive inside,Because none of my luggage was scanned.I have asked the hotel and the company for an explanation still no answer, my stay was on 23rd to 25th of oct 2024,,I would tell anyone wants to stay here to check this first.I am attaching few pictures of concern,I did warn them that If there is no response from them my review will be the truth,Still they are not bothered,I have more to write but I will stop here."

"We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip. The location was okay, the pool was beautiful but the rooms were not the best. They didn’t smell great & our bathroom was not nice.. shower needed a lot of tlc. We only had 2 pillows between 3 for the first night because we asked for one but after a certain time the staff just disappeared.. The food wasn’t good but wasn’t the worst. Overall, I believe there are better value for money hotels around however, some people in the group did have a much nicer room so I’d ask for a recently renovated one if you do stay here."

"The location of the hotel is relatively remote, but it feels like a manor inside. The guest room is similar to a single-story villa with a large bed and a small bed, and can accommodate three adults. The room hygiene is good, but the floor drain next to the toilet tends to accumulate water. The mattress of the large bed is moderately soft and hard, and the floor-to-ceiling doors and windows face the garden, giving you a first-class view. Although no monkeys were seen knocking on the door, various warblers and birds were constantly chirping, and the ecological and natural environment was well protected. "A place of real tranquility, where one feels at peace as soon as you enter this gem of a property consisting of 44 cabanas to suit one's needs. These are well appointed, spacious & spotless with all amenities in place. From the minute we arrived at Amaara Forest, the welcome we received and how our every need was catered to until we departed, was truly exceptional. The staff believe in traditional Sri Lankan hospitality with their welcoming smile & warmth. For us it was a getaway with buddies to unwind and enjoy serenity in the midst of a forest, which we did to the maximum. For those who love & value nature, this is a "hidden gem" !! The attractions or our heritages such as the majestic, Sigiriya is a short drive and so are the mature reserves that include the famous Minneriya Nature Reserve, where elephants can be observed in their natural habitat. When we left Amaara Forest, after a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast at their famous "Tree Tops" which is built halfway up a tree on a sturdy platform, we were serenaded by a flutist as well. We soaked in the peace and the sounds of nature with gratitude for having stayed in a wonderous place. We left with the promise of returning for a similar experience in the neat future. "Great place to stay if you want to explore the lions rock and the area around. Pidurangala rock is only 15min away by tuk tuk, the lions rock can be done by walk (~20min walk to entrance). But the best experience was the kindness of the hosts. The helped us in every way (explaining routes, advices on activities, organizing tuk tuk, etc.). The food was amazing and we had a lot of interesting conversations with the friendly stuff. Special thanks to Daushna, Larush & Nimal for making our stay remarkable."

The views around are breathtaking. On the downside: weak breakfasts (wide selection, but not much tasty food) and insects in the room."

"Our stay at Fresco Water Villa was very disappointing. The room had a lot of mosquitoes and insects, which made it very uncomfortable to stay in. The condition of the room was poor, and the furniture was old, damaged, and not properly usable. The food was another major disappointment. There were almost no vegetarian options available, and the quality was so poor that we chose not to eat there at all. Overall, the hotel did not meet our expectations, and I would not recommend it based on our experience."

"One of the best hotels I lived in Sri Lanka, running by a local family. They are very nice and hospitable and even provided very delicious local breakfast with wild honey and welcome coconut water. The room was a quite big with high ceiling, clean and all the stuffs were available. The hotel is in the closest location to climb the rock mountain called Pidurangala to view panorama view of Sigiri and sunrise and sunset and very close to Sigiri Lion Rock as well. The hotel can provide car and jeep services. Jeep safari to see a herd and other wild animals were quite an experience to feel the wilderness and nature. This hotel is 100% recommended when you are in Sigiriya. If you need a car service for city to city travel, here is the service provider, called Danu and his contact number is (0774) 642 805. He is a nice and humble guy with certified local guide. We got his service from Sigiriya to Kandy to Yalla to Colombo, the trip went very smooth and we are happy that we covered all the attractions places with his assistance. Highly recommended!!"
