"Absolutely fantastic rooms with great views and an attentive service staff. Place wasn't without issues, though. It is very much a tourist trap hotel, and the entire region just gives off vibes of a giant tourist trap. I felt shuffled around within the hotel itself. My room was a bit close to the lobby/bar area, and the noise was insufferable. Had serious issues getting to sleep before midnight. And the great bathtub that looked out over the lake and had the monkeys that would come up to the window? The way the shower head and faucet were located, it was impossible to shower or fill up the tub without getting the entire room soaked in water. I was looking forward to hours soaking in the tub and reading, but there wasn't any dry surface to keep a book or cell phone on. Also annoyed me that dinner wasn't served until 7. Nothing about the place made it easy for early to bed, early to rise people.
Enjoyed the breakfast they served. Loved the views from basically any window in the hotel. The little bar was great, with some decent drinks and just the friendliest of staff. If I were ever to come back to the region, I'd stay here again for sure, I'd just ask for a room further from public spaces."

"We stayed at the Eden Grand Hotel for two days and absolutely loved it. Although it can be a little tricky to find, the hotel is beautifully located at the edge of the forest, where monkeys leap from tree to tree.
The rooms are cozy and well-designed, with a spacious, comfortable bed, modern bathroom and an AC.
The service was exceptional. Breakfast is freshly prepared just for you, and the food was fantastic. The hotel also offers its own tuktuk driver, making it easy to visit nearby attractions like Sigiriya Rock.

"We stayed here at the start of our trip which was a great way to start. It is quite a drive from the airport around 3 hours but worth it when you get there. The hotel setting is amazing although quite remote. The only slight discrepancy was the inconsistency in the prices we were charged for drinks - it changed every time we ordered something and never matched the menu. There was also an extremely limited amount of gluten free food available for our cealiac daughter. But would recommend and return."

"The room facilities are too old, at least ten years old! Trip.com The webpage is marked as newly renovated in 2025! The sheets are old and faded and there are red stains. The shower hose is broken and there is no water pressure in the bath. The basin cabinet hardware is damaged and cannot be stored. The faucet splashes everywhere. The bathroom mirror headlights will flash when the contact is poor, and the air conditioner in the room drips at night and it is inexplicable noise..."

"It is a family-run and warm inn.
The owner spoke in the morning and evening, and the other time was the grandfather and the child responded.
It was a room on the first floor of the building, but it was renovating the second floor during my stay.
Overall, in a dark room, I was worried about the smell of mold that I was worried about dust.
The shower had hot water properly and there was no problem with drainage. Amenities include bath towels and soap. There is no hair dryer.
You will pay an extra fee to use the air conditioner. It was hot so I paid for all nights first, but the answer was correct because the air conditioner relieved the musty smell.
Breakfast is set on the table in front of the room if you are two people, and more will be guided to a large table in public space.
Fruit and coconut sambal were very delicious!
The nature of the garden was beautiful and I enjoyed the local feeling that I couldn't taste in an ordinary hotel.
I was worried about the cleanliness, but the owner and grandfather were very kind. Sigiriya, which has many expensive hotels, is very satisfying with this price.
There are many restaurants and shops around, and there are several laundry within walking distance.
The store where you can buy alcohol was also within walking distance and was very convenient."

"This is a nice hotel in a great location in terms of seeing the key sights in the area we wanted to visit (walking distance to Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks, and a short tuk tuk ride to a night loris walk). It is on a main road so there is a bit of noise from that if you have a room at the front of the hotel like we did - especially some loud music playing early in the morning. I recommend asking for a room as far away from the road as available. The room was more basic than I expected for the price but importantly it was big and clean. I think you are paying the price for a proper hotel in this location. The hotel pool is big and very clean, it is perfect for a dip to cool down - and very scenic, surrounded by lovely trees. We were a bit disappointed with the hotel restaurant menu which has nearly no vegetarian options on it, and similarly the breakfast buffet wasn’t worth it for us to purchase, but there are lots of other restaurants walking distance from the hotel to go to. The staff were helpful especially in putting us in touch with the loris night tour."

We got very nice experience when staying here 1 night. The room was perfect for our family of 3. We just had to pay for the 3rd person's breakfast.
The Logde located nearby the Lion rock and village, easy to find and go to the rock or the Gambulla city within 10min.
The host Isuru was very welcoming from the start and made sure that we had all that we needed. ( hot water, drinking water, towels, AC, fan). We also really appreciated Mr Alain, a french gentleman resident in the sameplace! The room also had all the necessary for us to not be bitten by insects (scents and more). There was also a room for the driver at a very resonnable price. However we found the wifi a little weak, but else everything was good.
In the surroundings it is peaceful, and we woke up to nice little sound of the nature and a well prepared typical srilankan breakfast and fruits! Delicious!

Guest UserThe lake next to the property is beautiful and the owner is really accommodating - he escorted me to the lookout as it is dangerous to go out by yourself in the evening and early morning because of the elephants that may wander through the area.
Both him and his wife were very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Sigiriya.
The room has a tea and coffee station, a mini fridge, and air conditioning.
You are in nature, so if you don’t mind a couple of little frog friends in the bathroom, and you are a bird enthusiast, then this is the place for you.

Minuses of the hotel:
Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.

It's a really convenient location with lots of restaurants nearby, and it's close to Sigiriya Rock too. The restaurant also has a bar. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very friendly.

Kalundewa Retreat has an amazing concept and a beautiful, secluded location that really stands out. The surroundings are peaceful and unique, making it a lovely place to disconnect. That said, there are visible signs of wear and tear in certain areas, and some aspects of property maintenance could be improved.
However, what truly made up for this was the hotel team — their service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care, which added greatly to the overall experience. With better upkeep, this place has the potential to be exceptional.

The hotel is a bit off the main road, nestled in the jungle. It has a large, beautiful property with a decent restaurant that served tasty food. In the room, there's a concrete bed and concrete countertops, and the outlets are inconveniently located under the nightstands. Maybe the design was cool initially, but now it looks a bit tired.
What I didn't like was the lack of soap (though they brought some when I asked), and the shower gel and shampoo bottles were already half-used. Also, the toilet seat didn't fit properly. The hotel staff, in general, were willing to help with any issues within their power.
