This is a beautiful self contained apartment on 2 levels. Downstairs is a bathroom/shower and living area. Upstairs a bedroom with a small terrace. Access is by door code supplied by the owner or in our case Booking.com. Unfortunately guests in the other apartment had not been given the door code by their booking agent and did not speak English or Japanese. Fortunately we were able to phone the owner for them. Definitely a communication problem by their booking agent or a language issue by the owner. The apartment is very ''Japanese'' in the sense that the bed is only about 1 foot off the ground. The lounge was also low and uncomfortable and the dining table was so low that it could not be eaten off nor used for a computer. This was extremely annoying. There was also not a single chair in the apartment. Overall even though immaculate the apartment was poorly designed. The kitchen was huge but nowhere to sit and eat!! After we had booked we sought to contact the owners to extend our booking but they had no English language skills at all and we had a frustrating series of emails back which did not help. As we could not stay an extra night (it was festival weekend) we then needed to move to another hotel for a single night whereas we would have preferred to stay at ItoMori.

Traditional Japanese hotel with great service. The hotel has its own hot spring pool, which is very refreshing after a day of fun. The location is convenient, 5 minutes' walk from the station and 10 minutes' walk from the ancient street. The overall stay experience was very good, and it left us with good memories of our trip. We will stay here again if we have the opportunity to visit Gaoshan again in the future.

Not far from the highway, there is a winter-only hot spring next to it, and the food is delicious, although only a few are open! For breakfast, the surrounding stores may not be open, so it is best to prepare, but there is a convenience store in the hotel so you won't be hungry!

My wife and I stayed at Sansui Ryokan during our recent trip as part of Nakasendo Trail walk. We had a memorable time at Sansui. They had 4 private baths which guests could use. The dinner / breakfast were excellent. We appreciated the thoughtful yet down to earth, homey service. My wife enjoyed the banter with our server who is 72 years old during our dinner through Google translate ! Although we have checked out,the lady sending us off gave us a walking bell when she found out that we were going off on our hike before leaving the area. We felt very touch with the gesture !

I contacted my family in advance, and came to pick me up at the waiting area on the second floor of the JR station. The location of the cabin is very quiet in the middle of the mountain, and the facilities are reasonably arranged. Although the public bathroom is shared, it does not affect the use. Sitting by the fire in winter is warm and cozy. Five-course dinner, except for the slightly salty pasta, everything else is perfect. Western breakfast is also very hard. Because of the early departure, the hostess prepared for us alone twenty minutes in advance, and the full score was well deserved.

I stayed at a traditional ryokan in Takayama several years ago and that was hard to top. This time, my husband and I decided to find a different property to stay in and Machiya gave us such a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Deluxe Loft room; it was spacious enough for a family of 3 adults and one young kid. The quality of the room was good and expected, but it's the friendly and helpful attitude of the staff that is highly commendable. Whenever we have questions about F&B, attractions, or even needed help with the delivery of our Rakuten order, the staff was ever so accommodating and helpful. Even my 5yo kid could feel the friendliness of the staff that he drew them a TQ card before we checked out. 10/10 recommend!

One of the, if not the, best hotels on our trip. Hotel is wood accented throughout and the hotel has a new and fresh modern aesthetic. Location is fantastic and within easy walking distance of central Takayama and a number of good restaurants serving local food. Comfortable well-appointed rooms, super helpful staff, outstanding morning breakfast, not to mention the excellent teas and coffee available throughout the day. Could not have been better and recommend a stay here. Hotel can be a little hard to find because it has an understated entrance. Just a tourist’s preference but it would be nice if there were some English translations available for the TV remote and at least one English station available for news.

The location is right across the alley from Takayama Station. The location is very convenient, the interior space is comfortable, and the counter staff is very kind. The lobby is on the second floor, so carry your luggage up. If you need assistance, ring the doorbell on the first floor. There are free lockers to use, but there are not many large lockers. If you want to temporarily store your luggage, go early!

I used it for 2 nights and 3 days. First of all, the food I was looking forward to is the best word. I ate so full after a long time. I was able to enjoy the meal while feeling particular about it because I could explain one by one. Homemade Hoba miso is so delicious that I want to eat it every day. There are two types of hot springs, an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and the stress of day 々 has suddenly become lighter in the mountain scenery that can be seen while immersed in the open-air. The room was clean and cozy, and the room on the 4th floor with a good view looked beautiful. And above all, the staff's consideration and consideration were wonderful, and it was my first trip with my 1 year old daughter, but I was able to spend comfortably. My daughter is a young husband's tajimacho melomelo (^^) Unfortunately it was raining, but I was able to enjoy a walk by telling me about recommended shops. There is no loss of information about young husband! A great trip with the best hospitality was. I definitely want to go again! Thank you very much.

This was my second time at Wanwan Paradise, after Toba and Takayama. It was better than Toba, but the smell was still bothersome. The bath was great! I was able to relax in the private room, open-air bath, and hot spring. It was cool and I was able to take a walk in the morning feeling refreshed.
