"We had a group of 10 people booking 5 rooms, and although we encountered a minor issue during check-in that caused a delay, thanks to the assistance of both Trip.com and the hotel staff, we were able to successfully complete the check-in process.
The hotel facilities were excellent! The location was fantastic, and every guest received a welcome drink every day.
Guests could even grind their own coffee, which added a fun touch to the experience. Overall, we all had a very enjoyable stay"
"I don’t know if it’s discrimination or the hotel staff is rigid. The room is OK, there are people who can speak Chinese, and the service during check-in is very good. However, on the second day, I asked the hotel to help me book a restaurant for the third day. The hotel staff agreed and told us that the restaurant we wanted to book was closed and we needed to help book it when it was open on the third day. We said no problem. On the third day, we checked out first, stored our luggage, and asked the front desk if they had successfully booked the restaurant they promised to help us with yesterday? ! ! ! The key point is that the front desk said, sorry, we can’t help customers who have checked out to book a restaurant... I was shocked! ! ! First, I checked out five minutes ago; second, you promised me the day before, I’m just asking if the restaurant reservation was successful... After a stalemate, the supervisor came out and said that he could only call the restaurant for us to ask... That’s it, the experience was very bad... It’s totally not worth the 6k+ room rate..."
"Excellent. They make you feel like you’re their special guest at their home and everything is well thought out in order to maximise your comfort. Garden was beautifully curated and the kiseki was exquisite as well. Definitely go for the half board option if it’s available! Thank you for the unforgettable experience."

"Hotel Material was a great value stop in our tour of Japan.
We stayed for 2 nights as a family of four and it provided everything we needed. The bunks were large and ample for even adults. The sunken king bed was unusual, but easily the largest bed I slept in in Japan and well worth the investment. The shower was also excellent with both great water pressure and was tall enough to accommodate me at 6ft without sitting, a first for me here.
The room was clean and well presented and even came with some games to occupy the kids. The staff weee helpful and happy to look after our bags before check in.
The hotel also has a lovely roof terrace available which we weren’t expecting."
"Overall, this hotel is average and not good value for money! The hotel is at the foot of Nanzenji Temple. It is more convenient to climb the mountain to see the temple in the morning. To go to other attractions or shopping, you need to walk a distance before taking the subway. It is understandable that the hotel facilities are old, but the poor quality of the bedding seriously affects the quality of sleep and also makes people worry about hygiene issues. Since the hotel has a restaurant, it does not provide food delivery service to the rooms, which undoubtedly reduces the experience for a Japanese-style hotel. The delivery service was relatively standardized and did not leave a deep impression. Poor sound insulation is a common phenomenon in Japanese-style hotels, so guests should try to be careful about what they say to avoid disturbing other people's rest. The best experience is the breakfast session. In the traditional Japanese restaurant of the hotel, the tofu banquet is a famous restaurant near Nanzenji Temple. It is recommended to wear the kimono provided by the hotel to show respect for the local culture. It is a pleasure to enjoy the beautiful Japanese garden scenery while dining. The hotel has a traditional public bath, but the environment is average. Overall, this Japanese hotel experience is average"

"One of the best hotels I’ve been so far! I would come back for sure ! The services are kind of unique and entertaining ( movie projections, books to read, cocktails to try). The staff was very kind and helpful. One lady was especially welcoming and took her time to explain everything to us in perfect English . The location of the hotel is very good as well. Many restaurants nearby. Make sure to ask the hotel to book a seat at a restaurant for you since most of them were fully reserved and you don’t want to be rejected at the entrance because of that. Great experience overall ."
"A very cost-effective hotel, very convenient to various attractions, and the price is really good for the same location and conditions! There is also a large bathhouse where you can take a dip, and the breakfast is also good. Overall, it is really an excellent hotel."
"Facilities: Everything is available and exquisite. It was winter when I went there, and the floor heating was so comfortable. Wooden bathtub, toilet and shower separated.
Environment: The location is relatively remote and low-key, and you can't find it without looking carefully. It doesn't look like a hotel of this price range from the outside.
Hygiene: Japan's hygiene is really poor, I don't know how to clean it up. Whether it's a hotel, a restaurant, or on the street, it's really clean.
Summary: The hotel is quite good, with average facilities. It is really expensive compared to more than 5,000 RMB/night. If you are an ordinary office worker like me, I suggest you choose carefully, as you may be disappointed. If you are brothers and sisters who are not short of money, you might as well give it a try."

"The place that left my first trip to Kyoto as a happy memory until the end
I will bring good memories with me whenever I remember Kyoto.
The well-organized and tidy feeling makes you comfortable from entering the hotel to leaving.
It blends Japan's past and present well, giving it a unique and sophisticated feel.
Hinoki bathtub and plenty of warm water
It relieved the regret of a ryokan that I had not experienced on this trip.
It is recommended that you try the breakfast you ate every morning.
The menu, which used to be Korean food, was changed to a buffet format.
The food is unusual and unique. I'm very satisfied ^^
I'm going back after getting along well with the warm consideration and help of all the staff.

GGuest UserNice house with average services
Front desk staff may arrive late so there are chances that you need to wait under the sun as all doors closed and you can only contact them by email during that time (not very responsive)
Thin wall so may hear people talking in midnight
Good experience overall despite the above
Beds and tatami are very comfortable and smell good
Taxi costs ard 1,000yen from kyoto station to the house

AAnonymous UserFantastic stay at VIA INN PRIME KYOTOEKI HACHIJOGUCHI! The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, which made getting around super easy. One major plus was the 7-Eleven directly connected to the hotel, which was so convenient for grabbing snacks, drinks, or even a quick breakfast. The room was clean and well-equipped, and the staff were polite and efficient. A perfect base for exploring Kyoto!

PPoohWe were arrived early before the check-in time, thanks to a young man allowed us to check-in. My room just directly faced in fron of Kyoto station. The hotel room facilities are new. And the room soundproof is awesome. QUIET & PEACE. The past few days, we were able to sleep tight. The area is very convenience as surrounding all restaurants, cafes, AEON mall, Babies Toy er ous , Isetan & Kyoto towel. Kyoto station is enormous! Anyway, some areas are dirty.

LLyndaThis is not a hotel of three stars. It is a HOSTEL. I stayed here after I extended my stay by a night in Kyoto and everything was full - at least those with reasonable prices. It was a single room with shared bathroom. It was a mixed floor with separate toilets for men and women. The showers were only on the 2nd floor. Hotel/sleeping wear was available for free but I changed the first top as it smelt unwashed. I made my own bed after taking the little table off the raised dias and sliding it under the bed so you need to be active!. There is a mirror with a small ledge under it. No rubbish bin as you are asked to take it out of the room to the communal bins on the floor. The whole place is fairly new and very clean, and location is great. There are a couple of vending and laundry machines along with large canisters of hot water and a microwave. Breakfast is two doors down in the cafe which was ok. It is run by Sotetsu chain but should be classed as a hostel not hotel. You can leave luggage early before checkin or after checkout for a few hours. The staff at reception were helpful but it certainly isn’t a hotel. Most hostel’s have a place to prepare your own food not just a microwave. Not value for money IMHO.

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

AAiliIt is a lovely place to stay with a fancy roof top bar. The location is okay, not far away from Kiyomizu dera temple, but still several bus stops from Kyoto Station. The hotel does provide shuttle bus to Kyoto Station but only allows carry-on luggages. The breakfast from the a la carte menu is mainly omelette, so you will probably get bored of it after trying for two consecutive days. The drip coffee provided by the hotel is amazing. Overall, a good experience to stay at this hotel. The bonus goes to the skincare products they provided for free.

Check in and out are fully automated. Fuss free.
Will book again if return to Kyoto !

JJasmineThe room is compact, as expected for a typical Japanese hotel, but it’s well-equipped with thoughtful features like a washing machine, microwave, and bathtub. Essentials such as a hairdryer, electric kettle, air purifier/humidifier, air-conditioning, and basic toiletries are all provided. In the lobby, you can help yourself to additional amenities like combs, toothbrushes, razors, cotton buds, and body sponges.
Housekeeping changes towels and clears trash daily, provided you place the designated magnet outside your door. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available at the lobby’s self-service corner. From 3–8 PM, there’s a free snack bar and a sake corner. At check-in, we received 12 coin tokens (for three people over five nights), which can be exchanged for sake—non-alcoholic options are available too.
The only downside is a slightly damp, musty smell in the room.
Location-wise, it’s excellent—just a short walk from the train station and close to convenience stores. Note that there’s no complimentary breakfast buffet

GGuest UserVery tastefully decorated room and the communal areas.
Very helpful staff even for Japanese well known high standards. They kindly advised us on our travel plan and flagged a taxi down for us on the street, we felt literally nothing was too much for them.
I thought it was reasonably priced for the quality the hotel provided us over all.
I highly recommend this hotel.

TTiejiaxiaomaoThe environment is very good. The hotel opened in 2024. There is a hot spring designed by Kengo Kuma. This is my second stay just for these reasons. The disadvantages are that there is a cemetery next to it, so please choose carefully if you are afraid of it. In addition, the flip-flops are a bit useless and can't be worn at all. If you walk to the hot spring area, it will hurt. I have never encountered the problem of flip-flops being difficult to wear in other Japanese hotels. I hope it can be improved.
