Best Basel-Stadt Hotels

"The Ibis Budget Basel is located about 800 meters from the station but close to tram lines 10 & 11. So it's a simple journey to the hotel. The staff were helpful, offering ideas, advising us on the Basel Card (free public transport and discounts on museum entry), providing us with an umbrella for the rain. The rooms are comfortable but no coffee or tea making facilities. There's not much to do immediately around the hotel but with tram access, you are only minutes from being in the heart of Basel."

"Basel was our final stop in Switzerland this year, a border city spanning only 24 square kilometers. Despite its border location, it's very developed and modern. **Environment:** Among hotels like Victoria, Mövenpick, Radisson, and Novotel, we chose this 3-star option. It's directly opposite the SBB train station, and the main bus terminal is just 100 meters from the lobby exit. Although it's a transport hub, the area is decent; there are a few homeless people around, but its convenience makes up for it. **Facilities:** There's no fitness center, but you can pay to use a partner facility. The lobby bar is alright, not too crowded, with a nice corner view of the street. Coffee runs between 6-7 Swiss francs. The room isn't huge, but it's fully functional, and the bathroom is quite spacious, which is great for travelers. **Cleanliness:** The common areas, like the lobby and hallways, are well-maintained, and the room was very tidy. You can definitely trust the cleanliness standards of Swiss hotels. **Service:** Check-in and check-out were both quick. Our room was ready well in advance, and luggage storage was straightforward. They provide a Basel Card, which offers free use of all city public transport and half-price entry to some museums. I didn't particularly notice any other services."

"Bed was very uncomfortable. It's a folding Murphy's bed. Never seen this in a hotel. It was not so clearly visible while making the booking that hotel parking will cost extra CHF25 per night. All together there was no great financial benefit in selecting this hotel. I will not like to use this again."

"Although the hotel is a bit far from the city center, it’s very close to a tram stop, and you can reach the center in about 10 minutes. The hotel also provides a travel card, so you don’t need to pay for transportation. It was clean and comfortable, with a modern design. I received a level of service that exceeded my expectations."

"Great location. About 10-15mins walk from the main train station. The air circulation in the room wasn’t that good. It was rather stuffy making it hard to sleep at night. Tried adjusting the thermostat but it didn’t work. The bathroom is clean however the water heater couldn’t work properly and it was 7 degrees outside. 😓"

"The overall traffic at Basel Motel is very convenient. The in-house guests also have a free free city bus ticket for Basel for everyone to use. The hotel is a church, there is time to go shopping, there are many businesses and restaurants attached."

"The reception staff are very helpful and forthcoming in providing prefessional services to guests. We enjoyed very much the nice breakfast of high quality in the cosy restaurant . The room was spacious and cleaned. The central location (close to bus/train stops) made it very easy to scenic spots . We made a very good choice of this hotel. The picture shows the dino outside the hotel which makes the environment relaxing."

"Breakfast is on the eighth floor. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the train station. There are three hotels in one building, all owned by the same owner with different names. Bring all your own toiletries and slippers, and there is a kettle."
