The staff were the highlight of our stay and it makes all the difference, they were gracious and polite and friendly and despite my very poor Mandarin attempts, they were always helpful with no eye rolls or patronizing tones. All the front desk staff were amazing from helping us to order late suppers to organizing some medicine for our sick child. The location was perfect for a morning stroll by the canal and close to one of the main gate wall. Highly recommended and we would come and stay again.

Hot spring pools didn't vary much, and occupied what seems to be a small area, which worked to our advantage because we stayed when the wearther was 1-2degC. Restaurant offered fair-priced dinner options, breakfast spread was fair as well. Not much happening in the surrounding area, until one takes the tourist shuttle (or the ebikes for rent parked around the area) where folks can check out other quaint village/farm cafes and restaurants.

The place is really lovely. It is located within a bamboo forest and is a reasonable distance from a hiking path. The front desk, Xiao Ling, was very helpful and caring. The place is very good for escaping from the city, only 20 minutes drive from the old town. It is silent, with a beautiful view of the mountains. The exterior and some facilities at the hot spring are a bit old but absolutely clean and comfortable. The hot spring after the full day of hiking was fun and relaxing. I will go again for a relaxing weekend!

On the other hand, the breakfast in the All Day Dining was disappointing as they seemed to run out of food by about 8:15. The days we were there earlier it was a good selection. If you are going as a family and are not a Chinese speaker, I'd recommend doing your homework in advance. There is lots to do nearby, but the hotel doesn't have that information available for guests.
