I am giving only a 3/5 on service because when we arrived (after walking by the ”friendliest hotel in Vermont” sign) we were told unapologetically and stone-facedly by the young man at the desk that they ”would have called as a courtesy” but my ”location didn't come through the reservation system” that I can't stay there unless we've quarantined 14 days with no grocery shopping or visiting with family or friends. He said that Vermont's policy is that if your county has more than (some # I don't remember) active cases per million, you can't stay there. (Never mind that my county has only 130,000 people / 52 active cases -- so I guess they multiply to get the per Million number???) I had pre-paid for this room, so LUCKY FOR ME because I work from home and have no social life, I was able to stay. I never thought a thing of it when making the reservation as here in NH and Maine, all the radio ads say that Vermonters can visit ”without restriction” so it never occurred to me to check what Vermont had to say about us. I don't know if this is a Trip.com problem or a Comfort Inn problem --- But SOMEONE should be calling people. Imagine if you got turned away after a long trip?? And Rutland is ”Central” Vermont so it's probably at least 45 minutes to any state border if you need a new hotel.
Facilities: I give a 2/5 and again, not sure if this is Trip.com's fault or Comfort Inn's - but there is NO BREAKFAST due to covid. If you are like me and factor breakfast into the cost of a hotel, this would be helpful info. Yes, I knew they probably wouldn't have a buffet, but they could have done a little bag breakfast or a coupon to McDonald's (next door) or something to make up for the fact that they advertise something that they don't have. The indoor pool was also closed, which I anticipated. But again, that should be stated when booking - if I had little kiddos and they were looking forward to that and we found out it was closed on arrival, that would be bad. Incidentally, I work for a place in NH with an indoor pool and they open by appointment so only one family is in one area at a time - something to consider. Imagine the great reviews you'd get if a family could have private pool time on vacation!
That said, this hotel was renovated since last I stayed there. Ice was clean. Room was clean. Housekeeper was just as nice as she could be. The front desk lady on day 3 (checkout) was very nice too. Wifi was easy to access.
Lesson from this visit: Take it upon yourself to CALL THE HOTEL before arriving to find out protocols. Don't do the we-pick-the-hotel option on if you care about the amenities like breakfast and pool, because you won't be able to find out what's available before you find out what hotel you got.
Message to Comfort Inn: Reach out to people before they drive 4 hours to get there. And when they do get there, try to be nice and pleasant, that will get you a lot further.
Message to Trip.com: UPDATE YOUR SITE FOR COVID.

Staying at this hotel was comfortable, unfortunately the pool was being repaired so we couldn’t make use of it. The check in process was cumbersome! Breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable.
The front desk person Maria was so nice and so was security/ shuttle driver Scott (?). Such friendly staff eas appreciated after a long trip and late check in. The room was very clean and you can tell that the property was well maintained.
The oldest small hotel in the town. It has a strong English style and ancient furniture. The photo is very warm.
We booked the room three months in advance and the hotel upgraded us. We were very satisfied👍
We had dinner at the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel at 7:30 in the evening. We originally wanted to have lobster pasta, but maybe we went late and there was no lobster. We changed it to beef pasta and it tasted the same👍
The portion of the dish is so large that it’s a waste if it can’t be eaten by two people…
It is a relatively old hotel. The attitude of the front desk clerk when checking in was not cold or hot, which made people feel a little uncomfortable. The breakfast is very simple; there is free coffee and hot water; the room facilities are relatively old and the cleanliness is average; the self-service washing machine provided by the hotel is very old, and it does not look clean, it seems that no one has ever cleaned it.
In short, it is a very average hotel that you can stay in when you need it. However, the price is not cheap in the autumn season to see the scenery.

MMAOYONGThis is the second time I have booked this hotel, the transportation is more convenient, there are a lot of parking spaces, free parking, the variety of hotel breakfast is OK, but there are fewer restaurants to eat nearby.
KKatieWhen we arrived, the front desk staff were very kind and welcoming. We were told we could eat at the restaurant right off the lobby so we planned to eat dinner there. When we arrived at the restaurant 20 mins later, they told us we could not eat there unless we had made prior reservations due to a wedding they had next door. The lady told us “we have to prioritize the wedding of 200 people”. I asked where we should eat and the lady shrugged. One of the waiters, who was very kind apologized and recommended the bar . They had some dishes from their restaurant menu. We were pretty irritated because we were both exhausted and the lady was very rude to us. We watched 20+ people get turned away from eating dinner due to this wedding. I completely understand that they need to focus on a wedding and the food for the wedding, however we should’ve been told about this when we arrived that the restaurant wasn’t available unless we had already made a reservation. The resort is very nice and there was a lot of fun things you can do there, but some of the staff were quite unkind.
GGuest UserThe hotel was clean and in great condition. The staff was fantastic and friendly and always went the extra mile. The breakfast was great with many options and again the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Pool was clean and the kids had fun. I would 100% stay at this hotel again and I recommend it to others. Their service, care, friendliness and customer service should be a benchmark to all hotel and customer service representatives
GGuest UserWe went to visit our granddaughter who is a freshman at UVM this year. Hotel was not too far from her. Only two exits on the highway. Very clean and welcoming staff everywhere. From the front desk receptionist to the housecleaning to the employee who saw us with luggage wheelie who offered to return it for us. Quiet hallways and very comfortable room with a fridge. We would definitely stay here again!

GGuest UserHad a nice little stay. They are doing renovations in there so the stairs are blocked off on the ground floor. I prefer to use the stairs. The computer took forever also and I waited upfront for over 30 minutes to check in. Which also was annoying but other than those 2 things. It was nice. The breakfast is always great and the staff were nice!
GGuest UserLocation was great. Pool are outdoor area were exceptional. The guest rooms are in need of being updated. The staff could have been friendlier. We were charged $25 for checking in an hour before check-in time. Our room was ready so there was zero time/effort for us to check in a little early. Definitely a bad policy.
AAnonymous UserWe really enjoyed our stay here. It felt very homey. Price was just a bit steep than usual probably since we booked this last minute during peak foliage when almost everything was already fully booked in Vermont. They take your breakfast orders upon checkin. There's also a restaurant next door.
