Echigoyuzawa Onsen Hotel Aster

The hotel is on the East side of the station which we hadn't stayed before. Its quieter then the West which was nice but still close to some restaurants and the main bus stops for ski resorts. Its about a 5 min walk from the station. We arrived and nobody was at reception and even dinging the bell we had to wait a while. It is a bit of a mess downstairs in reception with the owners clutter but that has nothing to do with your stay so not to worry. We did request a Japanese room if available but nothing was ever mentioned about that and we just got a western style twin. The owner didnt know much english so we didn't want to bother trying to explain. It was clean, neat and every day we got new towels, yukata, new tea, bed made etc. There is a dry room downstairs for your skis and boots and gear and everything was toasty and warm in the morning. You leave the key in the box when you leave each day and get it back from reception once you return, though if we went out for dinner again later or to the konbini we would just keep it on us. You have your own bathroom but they also have 1 Japanese Onsen and you can use it for private and lock the door. It was so nice to have private Onsen as we have rarely been able to have Onsen together in Japan as a couple. It is also a close walk to a Lawson so you don’t have to fight the other tourists for food at the 7 Eleven on the west side. Or you can go to Matsumoto KiYoshi at the station East side. The hotel was quiet when we were there. Perhaps there wasn't many guests or maybe they were just considerate and quiet people. I would stay here again for sure but would like to get a Japanese room next time.

Check-in and out response was explained as light 々 without affection. I'm sorry, but I couldn't think of it from me who is in the service industry. The futon was thin with a futon 1 sheets and everyone was in the morning, and it was the same impression as !! It was breakfast, but the impression that the meal charge was very caring. There were many kinds, but the amount was small, and neither the husband nor the high school student children were insufficient... The bath was very good.

Hotel has good heating so perfect for winter stay. Nice fireplace area and nice holding area before stepping out into the cold. The hotel is down a hill from the main thoroughfare. A bit slippery downhill when it becomes icy. Run like a hotel so maybe a bit cold compared to a bed and breakfast. Onsen bath seems a bit dirty with things floating in there compared to other hotels we stayed at. We needed to move to another hotel which is 2km away and the guy offered to drive us there for 2000 yen! Just 1 luggage each and no skis. So on the whole just cold. Breakfast was 1000 yen seemed simple so we skipped and opted to eat in town instead. Probably won't stay there again.

This place is just 5 minutes away from ishiuchi maruyama ski gondola. Great value place to stay which is easily bookable. Owner provided transfer to and from echigo yuzawa station. Very friendly and even helped to carry the heavy luggage up the car and to our room. No lift access which is very common in smaller places like these. Two private bathhouse available for sharing. Rental price is great and he took great effort in ensuring fit. Also discounted gondola prices available. Breakfast was delicious which was included too. Overall owner and his wife are very warm to all the customers. Would stay here again!

In fact, this hotel is not bad, but the response from the person in charge made our experience bad! 😔 ❌We booked a four-person bed (extra money, two people staying), but we were only given a twin bed, and they didn't solve the problem for us during coordination. They forced us to contact trip's customer service, and they had to go through many difficulties/communications before they gave us what we should have expected. something for us. Because of this, our skiing time was delayed for 2 hours! ❌The door lock is broken and I have to change rooms again, which wastes time again. ❌The password for the key is useless and is the same for every room. ❌The picture shows a bed frame, but it is indeed a tatami Apart from the issue with the person in charge, everything else is fine: 👍The hygiene is very good. Although it is a public bathroom and toilet, it is very clean. 👍There is a water dispenser and microwave 👍The lady who manages the hotel is very nice and will help us patiently 👍There is a drying room to store ski equipment 👍It only takes 2-3 minutes to walk to the ski resort 👍The room has a small balcony and the view is very nice ⚠️Room heating is available from 5pm to 10am ⚠️There are no nightgowns and towels, you need to bring your own

Keiko was a lovely host. She was super friendly and welcoming to the area. She was available for any questions we had and was also able to provide a freshly cooked breakfast/dinner at a very small cost. There was free parking behind the accommodation which was great as we had our own entry/exit after hours. The room was spacious, but while the heating wasn't very strong, the bedding was extremely warm and comfortable. Would be more than happy to stay here again any time we're in the area!

Great stay at a Japanese bed and breakfast style accomodation. Owners are an elderly Japanese couple who speaks average English but we get by. Free transport to and fro ski slopes even though they are a 1.2 km walk away from Akakura Onsen main street. Owner was also kind enough to drive us to the train station for our rest day from snowboard. Breakfast was great! Room had attached toilets and were super clean. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Will stay here again next time I come to Myoko Kogen

I really enjoyed my stay! The host was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. The place is about a 15-minute drive from the city center, so it’s not right in the middle of things, but the amazing view totally makes up for it. It’s such a nice spot to chill and take in the scenery. Plus, the WiFi was really fast, which was a big win for me. Would definitely stay here again!

The host were really nice and they dropped us off at the chairlift every day. We skied home to the door after skiing. The place was clean with an onsen before dinner. Dinner and breakfast was traditional Japanese which was fantastic. The town is quiet but you can get a ride to akakura if you wanted to go out but we were happy just resting after a big day on the mountain.

Above all, it was close to the beach, the view was good and the location was great. I was able to spend comfortably with a shower before and after check-out. The dinner with a big boat was delicious, and the free service of the ice and drink bar, and the table tennis table were also delighted. Only one thing was looking forward to entering the public bath with the child while watching the sunset, but it was a pity that the bath on the sea side was a man hot water, and it was not seen. With family, mothers often bring small children in, so I am glad to have a priority on women's hot water. It was a little sad because I felt the custom of old-fashioned male and female.
