Menina Colina Guesthouse
4.6/537 Reviews
Last year I had the most wonderful stay at Menina Colina, and was excited to return. Unfortunately I now wish I had reserved elsewhere, as it has been nothing but a disappointment. Prices are so much higher than a year ago, but I thought I got what was a good deal on the garden room. Turns out it is greatly overpriced for what is offered, as it has none of the exquisite design or attention to detail that the interior rooms have. It also seems to be neglected in terms of maintenance. The coffee machine was leaking, and after reporting it, it was made out to be my fault as I was using it incorrectly. I had to physically show a member of staff the leaked water for them to agree to replace it. I was really annoyed that they felt that they needed to demonstrate to me how it works rather than just replacing it immediately. The next disappointment was that the room was initially not serviced at all, and no explanation was given. When you are paying $165 for a mediocre room (not even including breakfast), one would at the very least expect the bins to be emptied. The bathroom also had a terrible smell that permeated the room, and mosquitoes were a problem too. Management did offer me lunch or attendance of their fado show, but none of these arrangements fitted into my busy programme. I thought a small financial compensation would have made more sense. That did not happen, and nothing further was mentioned or discussed on check-out. The final issue was the online check-out which they require. When I tried to complete it, my bill was for my entire stay, although 3 of the 4 nights had already been paid months in advance. So my conclusion is unfortunately that Menina Colina’s standards have dropped significantly, and that it is overpriced for the lack of attention to detail that is evident in several areas.
Aparthotel Oporto Sol
4.1/533 Reviews
I recently spent four nights at Aparthotel Oporto Sol, and while my stay was overall okay, it came with a few drawbacks. First, the location is a bit outside the main area of Porto, which required some extra effort to get into the heart of the city. While the surroundings were quiet and less crowded, I did find myself relying on public transport or taxis more than I would have liked. One of the main issues was the absence of air conditioning in the bedroom. During my stay, the temperatures were warm, and it made things uncomfortable at night. Opening the windows was not an option due to the presence of mosquitoes outside, which meant I struggled to find a comfortable sleeping temperature. On the positive side, the apartment itself was spacious and generally clean. The amenities were adequate for my needs, and the staff was friendly and helpful, albeit a few blocks over. I appreciated the kitchenette, which allowed me to prepare some of my own meals during my stay. In summary, while my stay at Aparthotel Oporto Sol had its merits, the lack of air conditioning and its location outside the main area impacted my overall experience. If you're sensitive to heat or prefer to be in the city center, you may want to consider other options. Otherwise, it serves as a decent accommodation for those seeking a quieter spot.
Stay Hotel Porto Centro Trindade

Clean and safe hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lighting in the bathroom was too dark - difficult to shave and hard to shower. Room had no overhead light and was also dark. Our room faced the street which was fairly busy and noisy. Had to keep curtains closed during the day for privacy because clients at the hotel across the street could see into our room. Breakfast was way too expensive for what was offered. Very little choice - jam options poor, coffee poor. Only the sliced cheese was tasty.
Oca Ribeira do Porto Hotel

Best ever decision to book in this hotel after reading many positive reviews. Situated with the tourist attraction area itself with beautiful window view of the Douro river and Luis Bridge. We walked to all the places of interest and even walked across Luis bridge to Gaia. So impressed by the convenient location of this hotel that is closed to all public transport. Even though with all the restaurants and shops below our room, surprising it was very quiet after like 9pm and we had a comfortable sleep. Many thanks to Diego who checked us in and allowed us to leave our bags to be picked up later. Photos below were taken from our room window. Will of course recommend friends or family to book this hotel
Maria da SÉ Historic House

Amazing location, in the middle of everything you need to see & all the restaurants, patios, live music, etc. The hotel & the room is tiny but that’s expected with a historical place like this. We stayed in room#2 & it had a window facing the historical wall of this building, so don’t count on much of a view or natural light! A little bit of uphill but again that’s Porto, you can hardly get around without uphills & downhills! The owner Maria & the manager Martha are attentive & caring & ensure you have a great experience with your stay. When we arrived a welcome Portuguese tart was offered which was delicious & also Martha said you can pour yourself Port wine (also super tasty) any time,
Park Hotel Porto Aeroporto

Warm, friendly, helpful greeting at reception was a very good start. Hotel was walking distance to airpoert, but due to the time my wife had to get to the airport, 4.50am, paid for the coach (very reasonably priced - EUR2.00). Dinner was a selfservice, choice of full buffet, which included choice of hot dishes; 5/6 cold dishes including excellent gambas; soup; dessert, choice of 5 cheeeses; coffee - very reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent, hot, cold, cereal, coffee, juices; bread etc. Breakfast available for early plane flights - 4.40am onwards. My wife & I very much enjoyed our stay. No noise form planes, as there were no late flights. Secure parking, at a small cost
B&B HOTEL Porto Expo Aeroporto

A decent place to spend a night or two if there's a transit/stopover in Porto. Still, it's not that close to the airport. Friendly staff at the reception. Good Wi Fi. Clean rooms. Breakfast was ok, but there's was no any fresh juice though.
My Ribeira Guest House

The location is very close to the river, which is quite convenient. However, it takes more than ten minutes to walk to other attractions. The service of the front desk guy is very good. If there is no elevator, he will help you carry your luggage up. There is no room card, mainly the password to open the door. The room setting is quite good, the stone pillars are very impressive, but it is really cold in winter. The old-fashioned windows do not seem to be closed tightly and it is very cold at night. The shower room is very small. Anyway, I like the decoration style, but I can't sleep well. The room has kitchenware, refrigerator and sofa, and the design is quite good. There is a coffee shop downstairs, but I haven't eaten there. By the way, it is very noisy at night. There is a tunnel next to it, and there are people roaring motorcycles at night. Generally speaking, it's okay, but I'm not particularly satisfied, but it's okay for this price.
Legendary Porto Hotel

we were happy to have booked this hotel which is right in the center of everything. Our room was well designed, furnished, and functional. It is clean and our unit facing the square. Yet it is not noisy at nights for a good sleep. The receptionists are helpful and friendly. We love the bar serving good wine and beer and the it is relaxing after a long day out. The breakfast is superb . We love their portugese tart placed at the reception counter. Will surely recommend to our friends to use this hotel .

Location is a bit far from centre , but due to Meteo just in front of the hotel , it saves the time walk from the metro to the hotel ( normally at least take 20 minutes) The breakfast is very nice, has everything you want , lots of cheese , ham , eggs, veggies, breads , cereals , fresh and canned fruits , packed cakes and crackers , fresh cakes and croissants, etc ……… The coffee is excellent and wine too for breakfast!!!!!
