My arrival at the hotel in Xi’an was difficult. I arrived late on a rainy day with heavy luggage and was sad when I contacted ahead to ask for a bellman, only to be told they did not have one. The entrance required navigating two levels of stairs, which was a major obstacle given the weather and my luggages. The room itself was large for a solo traveler, which was a positive, but the overall condition was not as good as other Homeinn Neo hotels I have stayed at, with the walls being a bit dirty. Service at the front desk was inconsistent. I was not proactively given the small gift I had been rewarded on the app, which is something the hotel should offer without prompting. When I later asked the front desk for help with my luggages to the elevator, I noticed a look of unwillingness in her eyes. Thankfully, the security guard was friendly and stepped in to help me with my stuff all the way to my room door. When I asked the guard about the laundry room because my clothes were wet, he informed me that the dryer was out of order, meaning only washing was possible. Despite these difficulties, the location is excellent, situated close to both the bus stop and the subway station.
