Best Ulaanbaatar Hotels

"We checked in late at night. The staff at the reception desk understood Russian and helped us carry our two suitcases up to the second floor. It was cold, but there was a heater in the room, and it warmed up during the night. The water was barely lukewarm, and the cleanliness wasn't great. We found hairs on the bed, so we had to put an extra sheet over it. Overall, it's acceptable for one night."

"This is a very famous, long-standing hotel.🏨 I decided to book this hotel because of the Genghis Khan portrait in the lobby and the numerous international celebrities who have stayed here. Of course, the price was also quite affordable! However, the hotel is a bit of a walk from Sukhbaatar Square (where the airport shuttle bus stops), and it was quite tiring to drag my luggage all the way to the Chinggis Khaan Hotel. On the way back, I asked the hotel front desk to call a taxi directly to the airport. The usual cost is around 100,000 MNT! Remember to leave early, as Ulaanbaatar traffic is incredibly congested!"

"Hotel manager was a lovely guy and receptive to requests. knowing thefts are common in Ulaanbaatar he personally minded my motorbike overnight, which was locked in the carpark outside. Apartment was spacious, clean and air was well controlled. Some amenities were missing: shower curtain was missing so I had a bath and wash with the showerhead detached. Couch was unusually hard. Some PowerPoints didn't seem to work with my two-pin style adaptor. Basic hotel supplies e.g. soap, toothbrush, razor and hair drier were all supplied with much thanks. Location was close to the airport which was what I needed at the time. There are department store nearby with amenities but they close at usual business hours. Not many late night services available nearby, only a handful of restaurants. Overall a comfortable stay with thanks to the manager."

"The hotel exceeded our expectations! We booked a room for 3 adults and 1 child on our way to Ulaanbaatar. It's not centrally located, but in a quiet area near the train station. This suited us perfectly since we had our own car, and a great bonus was the private parking right outside our window. There's also a CU convenience store nearby for essentials. The breakfast was simple but filling, with Chinese cuisine. It’s best to go around 8 AM, though the chef does replenish dishes later. Our room had a kitchenette, but no sink or necessary utensils, just a fridge (which we didn't use) and a kettle. The room itself was very spacious and clean. Housekeeping came every day. We either had no neighbors or the soundproofing was excellent, as we didn't hear a thing. The only downside was that the radiators were cold, so it was a bit chilly. However, since we were only there to sleep and have breakfast, we barely noticed it. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking for a good, quiet place with breakfast and private parking at a great price!"

"I stayed at the ibis because I was looking for an international hotel. The hotel was nice. The area the hotel is in is still significantly under development. So there didn’t appear to be a lot of options for going outside and eating. Therefore, I went to the hotel restaurant, which was quite nice. Food was good price was reasonable. The only drawback on this hotel at all is the location if you’re interested in being able to go outside and walk around and see things."

"Amazing value for money and a good location. Short walk to the center and the mayor business and office buildings in Ulan Bataar. And believe me, walking is the by far fastest and convenient way to get around in UB. The staff was really friendly, good English speaking and so helpful, as Mongolian people are in general."

"Really Disappointing Communication, But Decent Hostel Overall I contacted the hotel through Trip.com a week before my arrival but they never responded. I also sent two direct emails with no reply, and when I tried calling, the number didn’t work, not even when a Mongolian with a local SIM card tried. They claim to offer a shuttle service, but my request was ignored, then rejected bia trip.com, and I had to arrange my own transport. Only ONE HOUR BEFORE my flight departed did they finally message me saying they could arrange it, which was far too late to be useful. Also they couldn't be trusted at all. Communication and customer service were extremely extremely poor. Wondering if they ignore requests on purpose and they just cant be bothered replying to emails and messages? My check-in was quite late, around 1:00 am, and since their website says check-in is only until midnight, I just wanted confirmation it was okay, but they ignored all my messages. That said, the hostel itself is decent. The capsule beds are comfortable, even though my USB charger did not work. The showers are ok, and breakfast was ok too. Special thanks to the morning reception ladies who were kind and helped me get a Unitel SIM card. To be noted that it is not even allowed to drink alcohol in the lobby, not even to quietly have a beer with someone else. I understand it is not a party hostel, but this rule feels a bit exaggerated. Left after 1 night and went somewhere else where they offered a much better service"

"Nice great location. Room is decent but not as big as we wish it to be. The morey changing rate at the counter offers good honest rates. Jap restaurant below seems expensive n disinterested in doing business. Otherwise all good."
