Best Taupo Hotels

This place was fantastic for us. We are a big family with the need for an accessible room suitable for a wheelchair, as well as the space for two families with 2 young children each. It's a tricky requirement to fulfil and nearly impossible to get it just right, but The Village Resort managed to tick the boxes. It was a bonus to also have a great playground for the kids, a tennis court and a lovely swimming pool and spa. And all walkable into the centre of town. Unfortunately, the whole resort wasn't quite fully accessible, but the rooms had what we needed, and with the help of some strong members we managed to get us all into the pool. With decent and affordable accessible options hard to find, we will definitely be thinking of here if we return to Taupō again.

It’s ok, but the only single-storey room is arranged. This is the second booking, because I was staying on the upper and lower floors before I felt good and I would continue to choose this one. After reacting with the store, I still wouldn’t change it. Happy

Very good, very good car hotel, very clean, bath water is very good, the boss also prepares coffee, tea, coco, as well as milk, sugar. The room can accommodate 2 adults and one child. The quilt is thick and thin and sleeps well.

After 5 nights into our road trip it was a welcome relief to stay at The Cove - spacious, very clean, friendly staff and a great view of the lake. We actually spent a couple of hours just chilling out in the sun soaked suite. It’s great to see a hotel/motel still offering shampoo etc in little containers - something about the big bottles attached to the wall that most hotels do nowadays grosses me out :) The only downfall are the steps, so beware if you have heavy luggage but there are ground floor units. The cafe for breakfast is amazing! Excellent food, service and incredible view of the lake!

The room we stayed in was very comfortable, very clean and very interesting - full of memorabilia from the 60s and 70s. There was a very nice shared garden area for all guests to use. We didn’t, as the weather wasn’t suitable, but it would be a lovely space in appropriate weather. Love the amount of thought and passion that the owners have put into the unit. Definitely recommend staying here

We were forced to book this room as one of the only available alternatives after a cyclone closed all roads leading to Hawke’s Bay. While the town of Taupo seems like a fun place for recreational activities (fishing, boating, cycling, IronMan competition, etc.), it generally seems to offer much better lodging than this property. While the location was convenient, near the CBD and lake, the rooms and clientele left a lot to be desired. The walls were paper thin, the neighboring guests were loud and in general seemed sketchy. On the bright side, the room was clean and sanitary. Free on-site parking and swimming pool with above ground 6 person spa tub (neither of which were used by us). The seating area directly outside our sliding glass door was narrow and shared in common with all other adjoining rooms which provided zero privacy but abundant opportunities for second-hand smoke. Not our first choice.

We spent three nights at this very comfortable hotel in Taupo in early June. We were visiting our daughter who lives in the town but didn’t have enough room for us to stay. I was after a hotel with a view of the beautiful lake, but still within walking distance to town as we didn’t have a car. Suncourt Hotel fitted the brief perfectly. We booked a Premier Deluxe Lakeview Studio room. The room that we were allotted was on the top floor. There was no lift, so you needed to climb the outdoor steps with luggage. Our room was very large, with a king size bed, a desk, two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bath. There was also a very large balcony with a stunning view of the lake and a further two chairs and a small table. The reception staff were very helpful not only with our original reservation, but also when we needed to add a night and with any questions that we had. The only downside to me was that their restaurant was not open on the evening that we checked in, which was Sunday, and also not for breakfast on the Monday morning. We did know this in advance though, and as the town was easily walkable it wasn’t a problem. We had two breakfasts in the restaurant, and they were excellent. As we had other dinner plans, we didn’t have dinner in the restaurant, but our daughter and her partner have eaten there and loved it. If you are looking for a very large hotel room with a view, then Suncourt is for you. I believe they have much larger apartment style rooms which would be more suitable for families, although we didn’t get to see any of these.

The landlady is very friendly. The room we booked also has a natural hot spring. However, we are traveling like special forces and have no time to enjoy it. The room is also quite cozy and suitable for families. Taupo is a good place to stay for one more day, and there are still some unplanned spots, which is really nice.

The one-bedroom and one-living room is more soundproofed. It's great to have a direct view of the lake from the living room. Parking is also convenient. Dining is not far away. It's great. The service is very friendly.

When I first arrived at the reception, my brother thought it was an abandoned place🤣 It turns out that the room is behind the reception. The room is basically clean, but there are a lot of scratches from the furniture on the walls. It is recommended not to use the instant pot. I boiled a pot just for cleaning, but it had a very strange smell🫠 There are all kinds of dishes, chopsticks, cups, knives and forks, but remember to wash them before using them. After all, you don’t know if they are really clean🤷🏻♂️ Okay, that’s probably it. It’s gone~
