We had a wonderful stay at Greenland Villa. It is perfectly located right next to the Kithal Ella train station, from which you can directly board the famous train that goes through the nine arch bridge. The property was beautiful, very well equipped with everything we needed including a great kitchen. It was clean, well ventilated, and more importantly it felt like home. The owner took time to decorate it with great taste. On top of that he was such a humble and polite person.Upon arrival he gave us a ride to get our groceries; another day he brought us his homegrown vegetables, which was such a nice gesture. Having said that, there were a couple of issues that needed to be addressed. The WiFi connection was not great, probably because of the location, but we struggled with it. And the breakfast was very carb-heavy, which may work for you but wasn't particularly to our liking. Nonetheless, We would book it again if I ever come back to Ella. We can only recommend Greenland villa highly.

I booked the Double Room with Mountain View for my friend during our stay at Bridge Front Inn Hotel, and just like my previous experience, my friend was also very satisfied with the service and hospitality provided by the hotel. The hotel is located in Ella, very close to the famous Nine Arches Bridge. It is possible to walk from the hotel to the bridge, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the iconic train passing through. You can even spot the train from the hotel itself. The room had the same great features, including a private dining area and two bean bags, which were perfect for relaxing, resting, or simply enjoying the surrounding views. Overall, my friend was very happy with the stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ella. The experience was well worth the price, especially considering the excellent hospitality and service provided by the team. At the end of our stay, all of us decided to give Yugesh a tip of LKR 6,000 as a token of appreciation for his exceptional service and the extra effort he put into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable stay, great hospitality, and good value for money in Ella!

This was my first time in this city and my stay here was amazing. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet, offering a full immersion in nature that you can't find in big cities. The atmosphere and accommodation were very private. The owners provided excellent service, making me feel like family. The rooms were large and spacious, not at all intimidating. On my arrival, I requested to try on traditional Sri Lankan clothing, and the accommodation provided it for me. I was extremely impressed.

This place is incredible 😍 I don't understand the ratings because our experience at this wonderful hotel was a special treat in itself. Everything was excellent. The nice young man who greeted us upon check-in was the one who brought our luggage up to our room. He immediately gave us his contact information and was always available. (How were we planning to get around, whether we needed a transfer. He suggested some delicious places from our list and recommended a nice restaurant.) Yes, this is an upsell, but in my opinion, these are very important things in hospitality. Delicious and generous breakfast. The coconut pancakes were sooooo delicious; we've tried them in many other families, but here, they were amazing 😍 Breakfast on the rooftop with a wonderful view. Tea and coffee, not in mugs like everywhere else, but a kettle! It was a pleasure, thank you ☺️ The room was very large! It was spotless! Soap, paper towels, and bottled water were provided. The room even had a fumigator, but we didn't see any insects. No ants or anything else (so far, this is the first place on the island without such neighbors). There's a closet. The room has a balcony and it's not hot at all (you realize this when you're coming from the coast). The location is fantastic. A busy street is a couple of minutes' walk away, but the hotel itself is quiet. This was important to us. There are plenty of places to have a delicious lunch in the area. The 9th Arch Bridge is a 15-minute walk away. It's 15-17 minutes to Little Adam's Peak. It's a truly wonderful place. The squirrels chirp in the mornings. It's a local vibe, and I think I'll miss it. The **spacious, well-equipped rooms** (with both fans and AC) provided a **comfortable and relaxing retreat**.   The **breakfast was a highlight** – a **delicious, wide spread** that set the perfect tone for our days. The **prime location** was unbeatable – just a **2-minute walk to the main city center**, with easy access to **trending restaurants and vibrant spots**.   What truly made our stay special was the **attentive service and warm atmosphere**. **Great food, fantastic service, and genuinely caring staff** – we couldn’t have asked for more!   **Highly recommend** Alta Vista for travelers seeking **comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality**. **Thank you for a memorable stay One thing which can make more effective is WhatsApp service. WhatsApp will speed up things. Service was prompt if you have a Srilanka number over phone call.

Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

The place is a long ride up the mountain on a narrow winding road… (and unfortunately the local PickMe App has no use in Ella!) The food service was good but a bit pricey for the area of Sri Lanka. The “Single Room“ was as rather small and had an all glass “front door” and there was no fan or air conditioning… so with the open ventilation ducts most conversations from anywhere in the building could be heard inside of the room… Overall it was pleasant but not as nice as I had imagined from the listing…

We stay here for 3 nights and it was a lovely experience! The rooms were clean and tidy, we got fresh towels each day and new bottles of water! They were happy to tidy the room each day which was the first time we had this on our whole journey in Sri Lanka so was a lovely extra touch for us but we were happy with just new towels and water! They are currently renovating downstairs to build a restaurant so we were a little confused when we first arrived but this did not take away from the experience of the hotel, the staff were super friendly and accommodating! The hotel is in the perfect location on the main road through Ella with bars, restaurants and shops everywhere! With the train station a short 5 min walk everything is accessible. We would 100% recommend to stay here for your trip to Ella
