Best Southport Hotels

Oh how I wished I read these reviews before booking. I have stayed at Formby Hall a couple of times before so expected it to be the same good quality but how wrong was I. I booked a spa package for my family booking two loft suites with conjoining rooms @ £349 per room to celebrate my retirement. When we arrived we were downgraded to two loft superior rooms which were not conjoining and which are significantly cheaper. After speaking to the Receptionist who had a real attitude we managed to get the conjoining rooms but not the loft suites as she told us they were fully booked and they had to be fair to other guests. We were paying guests!!!, at this point we were ready to leave but was told in a very sarcastic manner, your stay is not refundable. One of the bathrooms had a horrible drain smell. No complimentary fizz in one of the rooms. The restaurant was not much better, long waits for food nearly 40mins for sweets and with two very young children this was too long so we left and cancelled the sweets, the staff apologised saying they were serving a party who had pre booked their meals but they arrived 1.5hrs after we sat down. Breakfast was ok, but long waits for scrambled eggs, beans, no cups for coffee and only one machine working properly. I won’t be booking here ever again, there are far too many alternatives available at much more reasonable prices and without the attitude.

From stepping through the doors for our first ever overnight stay to leaving this morning we could not fault the hotel itself plus the staff were absolutely amazing very friendly polite and such a happy atmosphere in the hotel we would 100% recommend a stay here. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was so tasty very filling then onto the bar for a couple of drinks again bar staff very polite and friendly. This morning we had a full English breakfast which was so tasty and the breakfast choices were many and all fresh again restaurant staff very helpful. Also I would like to mention the security gentleman who was very nice and friendly all in all we had a very enjoyable overnight stay and we will definitely be returning in the not to distant future

The hotel is quite new and the room is clean. The first room is so cold and so small because it’s on the rooftop floor. However, the kindly staff change the room for us. The shower is modern but the water flow is not strong enough. No drink water complimentary in the room. The breakfast is good and clean.

An overnight stay visiting family nearby. Easy check in with friendly staff the room was spotlessly clean and a good size. We had to fix the bedside lamps as they weren't plugged in behind the headboard and the bulbs were loose in the fittings (very dodgy switch plug) but apart from that the room facilities were excellent. We were told the bar would be open until 10.30 but when we returned at 9pm the staff told us that they had already called last orders as it was a quiet Sunday night. They kindly served us a drink as we were residents and we were the last to leave as the staff were finishing off cleaning and tidying up. Which made it very strange that loud bass music could be heard in our room until 12.30! Perhaps it was one of the neighbouring rooms having a party? Despite that, would happily stay again.
