Sofitel Hotels in Shanghai

I am very happy with my first stay in Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Premier Twin room was very new and clean. Location was good as Nanjing Road pedestrian mall was behind and a few minutes walk to People Square metro station. Good breakfast buffet spread with chinese and western selection. There is a chinese restaurant adjoining the hotel called Sunya and it serves good dim sum and chinese food.

Our family had stayed 2 rooms for 3 nights on the 27-30, Dec 2024. Our stay were memorable and amazing. The rooms were so clean with very nice view, the breakfast line were delicious and has many variety of food both western and Chinese. The staffs were the most impressive, they could speak very good english and very friendly. The duty manager is very helpful too. I forgot the souvenir which was the Chinese embroidered traditional fan and just realized when I got back home, the duty manager was very enthusiastic and putting a lot of efforts in getting the forgot item back to me. Thank you so much, I’m really impressed and highly appreciated your hard work and kindness.

I was surprised with the services and attitude of the people. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Smiling faces all the day and I felt so warm~ MOST IMPORTANT , the LOCATION is so so so NICE！ 南京步行街 is just 3 minutes walk away. all the famous shopping mall and stores like M&M, KINISO, POP MART are all not more than 15 minutes walk away. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION is around 5 minutes away as well.

For a small hotel, the room is pretty big! The breakfast buffet was impressive but what was inconvenient were the stairs in between rooms. However being a heritage building it is understandable as they tried to keep most of the facets. The staff were extremely helpful with my luggage and I noticed a majority of them were female! I felt safe and taken care of here as a solo female traveler!

It was useful that trip tells you the size of the beds so that you can determine whether they’re big enough to share with children. Lots of the hotels say that children can stay free, but the beds are no way big enough. The shanghai garden hotel has 2x 1.2m single beds in a standard room, which is considered a small double in the uk, and was comfortable for my family of 4. We visited the swimming pool during our stay and it was very refreshing. Be advised it is mandatory to wear swim cap. Which will have to be purchased if you don’t have it. Breakfast was vast, lots of choice of Chinese, Japanese and western style. We particularly enjoyed 混沌汤, 点心。 Disappointed with the 包子, 生煎包 - which didn’t really have much filling, flavour, and 油条 - which wasn’t fluffy felt it was cooked from frozen. Particularly annoying when we were asked to pay the high full price for our small 12 year old and half price for 7 year old, rather than by height which is what other hotels do. They hardly ate anything! Consider being more family friendly!

The room is a little dark and the amenities has to be self requested. They don’t have a robot to deliver your food to the room unlike other hotels. Other than that, great front door concierge service. Those mens in brown coat & women in red are very helpful and nice. Thank you for collecting all my parcels and I enjoyed my stay, thanku!

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times. In fact I almost every month and for several days or weeks. I have chosen to stay at this hotel due to its well positioned location. This is however the first time that I’m writing a review about this hotel. The reason is because the majority of my stays haven’t been as positive as this one due to shortcomings in the service. I will not go into details about that at this time and I want to mention my positive experience during this stay. When I arrived the doorman greeted politely and helped me with my luggage which was much appreciated. When I arrived for check in, I just waisted for a couple of minutes which is rather short and unusual for this hotel. The receptionist, named Red greeted me with a friendly smile and apologized for the waiting time. By doing that, he already gave me a positive impression. He helped me check in very quickly and as he realized that I stayed for many times and that I like to book the premium room as I prefer a bit larger room than the standard rooms, he gave me a room upgrade. As he also saw that I stay so frequently and never had any outstanding payments for mini bar etc. he did not ask me to pay any deposit. His recognition and courtesy made me feel happy and feel how the service of a five star hotel should in fact be. He also handed me two cocktail vouchers for the top floor bar and explained with enthusiasm that I can go to enjoy a drink there. Finally he wished me to have a good stay and I went to my room. The room he arranged was more beautiful than the one I originally booked. Nearly same size but looked much more pleasant which I like very much. He made this arrival much appreciated and I certainly hope that there will be more people like Red working at this hotel. Then I can easily say that I choose this hotel not only for the location but also for the service.

During our stay at the Shanghai Kempinski, the hotel staff May Xiong & Billy Du both went above and beyond expectation. They would always greet us and ensured that our experience felt just like home. From the moment we checked in, every member of the front desk was welcoming and responded really quickly to all our inquiry’s or requests. The housekeeping team did an amazing job of keeping our room clean and comfortable throughout our stay. We really appreciated their attention to detail and the extra care they put into making sure everything was perfect. Overall, I would definitely consider coming back to this hotel during my visit in Shanghai. Hotel is at a good location, close to metro and the bund. Walkable distance to food areas and shuttle to the airport. There’s also a kitchen where you can cook if you want some clean food at home. We cannot thank them enough for making our stay truly memorable. We will definitely bring our kids back again! Jennifer
