HanTing Hotel (Shanghai People's Square Metro Station)

It was our second time here and I can say it was the best hotel if you are in stay in shanghai for a short period of time. The hotel located nere subway and many attraction place. Definitely will stay here again if we come back in shanghai.

Great location close to People's Park, Nanjing Pedestrian street and walk to The Bund.

I had a good stay in this hotel. I almost missed finding this hotel though as it had a small entrance. The reception was ok but didn't really speak english -- had to use google translate to communicate. There was only one elevator so at times, there are wait times. I got a double room with window hoping it would be bigger but it was quite small. It's big enough for 1 person though! Although there was a window, all I can see is the wall. 🙂↕️. I'm happy they had amenities that I needed -- towels, shampoo, hair dryer! They also provide 2 bottles of water per day, which is good! The surrounding area is convenient as well as it's near a convenience store, restaurants and subway station. I would recommend this hotel for its value, cleanliness and convenience. 👍

Really clean and nice hotel , To be honest this the most clean ive been in shanghai thats busget friendly. Also metro is 3-5mins walk only. Many shops around the area.

This is our 3rd Hanting Hotel stay during our visit to Beijing (30-Aug ~ 04-Sep), Wuxi (04-Sep ~ 09-Sep), and Shanghai (09-Sep ~ 13-Sep). I have given good ratings for the Beijing Guanganmennei branch and the Wuxi Nanchansi Temple branch, but NOT this Shanghai People's Square branch. Of these 3 branches, I guess we just ran into bad luck with the Front Desk service on this one (not as lucky as previous guests). It's the worst by far! Not friendly, could not be bothered on inquiries, and worst of all, rude! 1. It seems like the front desk staff were always busy playing with their phones. Not a simple "hello" to greet guests when they see one. 2. One of the front desk staff got grumpy and emotional when we requested detergent for the washer. To our surprise, she said detergent only given on the first day of stay! Is this really the hotel policy? This did not happen with the Beijing and Wuxi branches. Worst of all, she talked with her back against us. How rude was that??? I have attached photos of this lady with the spectacles and, as mentioned, always so busy with her phone. And the funny part, after all this commotion, she was there during our check-out and requested for INSTANT GOOD reviews. She suddenly became so polite. LOL. 3. House keeping were just as bad. On our first day during check-in, the floor was just extremely wet with a damp stench smell, and we had to request a cloth to wipe it dry our own. On the second day, the rooms were not even tidied by 3pm even after multiple calls to the front desk. It got tidied up in the evening after 6pm when we went out for dinner, and guess what, it was just a perfunctory tidy up till the day we checked out. It's either mineral waters were not replenished, slippers were not replenished, and worst of all, dirty towels at the basin were not removed and replenished! 4. There was no buffet breakfast as they did not have a cafeteria. Hence, a fixed breakfast will be sent to your room with the automated robot upon a call to the front desk. It's the same breakfast for our 4 days stay there. 5. All toiletries ammenities need to be requested at the front desk, which is still ok to me. But the TV was really bad for both rooms. Kept disconnected with no WiFi signal. The only positive part about this branch is the room structure and layout. To be fair, this is the best compared to the Beijing and Wuxi branches. It's really modern, and they look brand new and at least sufficient space with the price I paid for. Other than that, to the Management, you guys ought to look into your front desk services seriously. Honestly, I would not come again to this branch. Location wise is ok as it's surrounded by a lot of restaurants which open as early as 7am and close around 12 midnight. There's also a 24-hour convenient store right opposite the hotel. 10 minutes walk to People's Square subway station and DiDi is convenient right in front of hotel. The hotel is quite near to the famous Shanghai Butterfly Pastry though (Hudiesu). It's along the way when walking towards People's Square subway station.
