Holiday Inn Express Shanghai New Jinqiao

I booked this hotel before knowing the exact location. This was probably the biggest let-down. Because it takes 50-60min to travel to 'The Bund' On the map it looks close enough to the centre, but it is quite far from the tourist attractions (Nanjing road, Yu Garden, and Lujiazui Station)  Subway is about 900m from here, so walking takes 15min. A car would be about 15Yuan and a bike is 2. But then you need Alipay in order to use the bikes.  The hotel said they had a gym - but did not mention you have to pay 88Yuan per day. That was disappointing. 😲 Breakfast was good at first, but after the 2nd of October, many old people ate early (6:30am) and by 8am many food options were not available anymore.  The bed was a bit too soft for my liking and the room smelled a bit like smoke. (Sorry, lots of bad stuff) 😟 The staff however were amazing! Helpful, friendly, supportive of foreigners. They helped us change rooms, add money to Alipay, called restaurants for booking and never seemed to busy or impatient. Chinese service is excellent! 😁👏🏼
