"dark and full of thieves. MAYBE DONT KEEP ANYTHING IN THE REFRIGERATOR. not sure how my things got stolen as they were packed in the back and not visible. was it the cleaning staff checking every item and label? did they decide to take it? was it a traveler, and because there's no CCTV they thought it'd be okay? i thought in iceland people would keep the cultural system of no crime. so this is a warning and also this experience (at the end of my stay) doesnt affect my overall opinion of the hostel (which i formed before having things stolen). the atmosphere is overly dreary and depressing. the most colorful thing is the mandatory rainbow flag that almost every business in the area seems to have on display (is it part of an extortion racket?). low light everywhere, even in the sleeping room when you need to be able to see and find things. the room had only one small window and only a tiny opening for fresh air outside. no air circulation or ability to adjust the room temperature. the room was cramped and the beds squeaked and creaked at the smallest movement. sheets were clean and no bugs were seen. so that is a plus! the interior and decor in the hostel is odd. it felt like a waiting room in the afterlife for people who led lives of honest vice and subversive transgression, or maybe it's best described as a purgatory for designers with perpetual Seasonal Affective Disorder. this probably suits most people interested in the general icelandic vibe, so it is appropriate. no ability to make a deposit for a lock for the lockers in the room. you must purchase an overpriced lock. finally there are no smiles on any workers who speak in monotone and seem bothered whenever you ask a question, as if they had been interrupted, as if it werent their job to assist customers, and as if i were dumb for asking a question."

"Great location, 3 min walking to aurora borealis Bus stop no. 6 pick-up. Airport transfer Bus 55 public 17 EUR one-way, takes 1,5h to BSI central station, then 20 min walk to hotel or take yellow bus to Bus stop nr. 6. I had a 2 nights stay, their reception staff was amazing, the lady helped me book a northern lights tour literally the moment I've entered. Pods very comfortable, ambient changing lights, hangers provided and large space for your suitcases. Ground floor bar and socializing space really cozy, beer and wine tabs are activated by digital bracelet, top notch kitchen (no stove), free high quality tea bags (loved that detail:). Elevator, entry with digital bracelet in the pod, bath robes (2) per pod for hot tub use, Dyson hair dryer and Rituals free cosmetics at bathroom. Free storage of luggage after check out all activated with the digital bracelet. Everything it's spotless clean and their attention to little details it's something that will make me return."

"Our room is big and cozy. The bed is very comfortable. We are lucky to stay at the building where the concierge and laundry room are located which makes it very convenient. It has all the kitchen wares and basic seasonings. The only downside is our room is near the street so there are some noises until 10.30pm but they have also prepared the earplugs in the room in case the guests need. Overall very happy with our stay here."

"I didn't stay at this place. Because of double booking, the conditions of another hotel are much better than this one. However, I still found this apartment-style hotel. I got the door code through the intercom and went in to check it out. The sanitary facilities were good. I just didn’t see anyone or live there."

"The place itself is really nice, it’s a 1 bedroom studio, basically it’s an apartment in the downtown area. Perfect location. You have to check in at a hotel up the road about two minutes, but that’s the only thing I didn’t like. Other than that, great place, and also had a fully functional kitchen if you wanna cook a night or two at home."

"It was good to stay for our last day as it's quite close to the bus station to airport. As there's fully equipped kitchen, we could be able to cook our own food which made us feel even better. Lastly, Bonus is right beside so it was cooool! Just one thing is that I had hard time looking for the entrance but unless that, it was good stay."

SSonia RaphaelRoom and toilet were clean, however there was a Sulphurous odour (almost like rotten eggs) coming from the drain of the shower which was quite difficult to bare if you used the bathroom for too long. Fortunately for us, we were out most of the day, so we didn’t have to deal with it so much. They’re a sustainable and eco friendly hotel and don’t offer one-use toiletries, however extra towels and other things were offered when requested. The breakfast spread was lovely and yummy!! Appreciated the well thought out guide folder!

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small. It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

DDaniel CurtisI loved this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! One of the outstanding features is that they give you a cell phone to use during your stay. The phone already has helpful apps installed for taxis, restaurants, etc. We are from the US so did not have international cell service so having this phone with us was helpful, especially for using maps. Reykjavik is a walkable city, and the hotel is located on the most popular street, so it has easy access to everything. The staff was very helpful and there is also a bar/restaurant onsite with amazing cocktails. There is an included breakfast buffet which featured hot and cold items. We had a room on the 4th floor that included access to large patio. We loved this feature as we could wake up and go outside to check the weather and enjoy the views of the mountains and water in the distance. The hotel was also extremely clean. Another nice touch was that they knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary so when we entered our room, we found a bottle of wine, chocolate and romantic decorations!

WWyw112The bus hostel is really near the airport and quite walkable to major sightseeing like 20-30 minutes. Yet the Windows curtain could not even cover it well so if you sleep near a Windows in summer (as the night will be very bright) You will affect by the light. There was men snoring really hard so it affect as well (though this is not about the hotel) I got nose allergy and the entire time I stay in the hotel and it makes me feel very sick. The self check in system is quite good, yet the reception will be locked after 9pm(?) I was coming back at 10pm and there was no staff help unlocking the main entrance which the password is different. They provide no information about this. A few of us (new guests or those coming back) are locked outside until a guest know the password show up. This certainly not a good service at all. The toilet has automatic light which is Environmental friendly I like it, but it went off when I only have a short time in the toilet, this really not quite good. But the location is good and there is bus travel tour pick up from here.

AayanamisloverThe location of the hotel is a bit out of the way, but it was only used as a stopover so it didn't matter too much, and for travelling around Reykjavik we recommend booking another Hilton Curio Select hotel. Facilities in the room were fair and worthy of the Hilton name.

GGuest UserExcellent location, so easy to get to where we wanted and needed to, especially we booked bus tours for 3 days, we were able to be picked up and dropped off at Bus Stop #1 that is located at City Hall where is only a few minutes away from hotel. It helped a lot when it’s raining. Only downside was the breakfast started @ 7 am which is bit late for early travelers, so the breakfast area was packed in the early morning. Maybe hotel should change its setting  to let two rows of people picking up their breakfasts at the same time.

GGuest UserThis was our second stay here, so we knew what to expect this time around. We had a room with no window, which I do not at all recommend! There was zero temperature control, and it got very hot very quickly. The room opens up to the hallway, so zero privacy, and lots of people peeing into our room while we were trying to just cool the place down. There is literally not enough space on the floor to open your luggage. So, we were prepared this time and got all of our clothes out and everything in the parking lot, and just left her stuff in the car. This way, we had the tiniest walkway to move around to get from the bed to the bathroom, but that was literally it. The staff was helpful and what they could, but there’s nothing they can do about a hot room with no ventilation. But, around seven in the morning, the cleaning staff came to the room next-door and sounded like they were having a party. I could distinctly hear three different voices and every word they were saying, along with doors, slamming, and lots of excessive noise that woke us up way sooner than we needed to before our flight. I sleep with earplugs to avoid this, and even through the earplugs, I could make out every word these cleaners were saying. Not the most respectful staff, even after I woke up, asked them to tone it down, they just ignored me and went on with their Excessive noise. Aside from finding plenty of hair all over the room, it was pretty clean, but the shower is exceptionally small. I’m a tiny person, so it wasn’t terrible for me, but I could not at all extend my arms and it made for a very rushed shower. The elevator works, and there are actually two, but if the hotel is full, I recommend taking the stairs, even up to the sixth floor. I once waited 16 minutes for the lift, and eventually just decided to take the stairs. All around, it’s a place to stay, and I’m sure the rooms with windows are much better, but I do not recommend this hotel overall.

WWongAaronI recently had the pleasure of staying at Guesthouse Aurora, where the charm of the establishment was only matched by the warmth of its hosts. Nestled in a convenient location next to the Church, the guesthouse presented itself as an inviting home away from home, perfect for travelers looking for an authentic and personal touch to their accommodation. Before arrival, we were worried that we cannot checkin because we took a night flight. However, when i called the staff, he answered that even our arrival time is out of customer service, he could leave the key and PIN code for us to self-checkin, he also went beyond to ensure a smooth check-in process. Their attention to detail and eagerness to assist with any inquiries set the tone for a delightful stay. The guesthouse itself boasted a quaint and cozy atmosphere, with communal areas that were well-kept and adorned with tasteful decorations, offering a homely comfort that was immediately noticeable. The included breakfast was a highlight of the stay, featuring a generous spread of both local and continental options, freshly prepared and sure to satisfy a variety of tastes. The morning meal provided a wonderful opportunity to mingle with other guests and exchange travel tales, all while enjoying the delightful array of food. However, it's worth noting that the room space was somewhat compact. While the room was impeccably clean and well-equipped with the necessary amenities, the limited space could pose a slight inconvenience, especially for those with a significant amount of luggage or a
