"The service is poor, with staff training desperately needed. The hotel ran out of some popular wine, with no plausible explanation as to why. The breakfast menu had sausages on several dishes. They were out of sausages for several days. The hotel did not supply newspapers, even when requested. We had wine glasses (given as a gift) removed from our room by house services with No explanation as to why. It was an effort to retrieve them. The Hotel markets themselves 5 Star accomodation. It’s a long way off 5 Star. We will not be returning there."

The property looks “rustic”, in keeping with provincial charm. everything functioned well and we hope to rebook on future visits."

"From the moment we arrived at Carriages we felt spoiled. Our room was beautifully appointed and very quiet. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Carriages Shiraz on the verandah before walking to enjoy our dinner at a nearby restaurant. A beautiful breakfast was delivered to us the next morning. Wine Country Villas

"Wine Country Villas was excellent, we stayed in a 2 bed villa which has two good sized bedrooms. The place was very clean and well presented with all main items provided, including plenty of beach towels alongside the fridge stocked for breakfast. Checkin was easy as they send you a code on the day which allows you to access the property, so very Covid Safe. The lovely balcony deck is great to sit and enjoy breakfast and the view of Hunter Valley, and the pool is great. The kids loved it. The location is good and a very short drive to all the Vineyards and Hunter Valley Gardens, and a 15 min drive to Cessnock if you need to go to the Supermarkets. The only area of improvement would be replacing some of the pans as they were very old and unusable, something which should be a quick fix."
