"The hotel is on a bus route do is easy to get to from the train station and the centre of Oxford. The rooms are very small but you have all you need, a clean bed, a very comfortable mattress, WiFi, TV and bath towels. The got water to our shower was extremely hot and we couldn't make it cooler, but the receptionist will look into that. The room was very clean apart from where one of the beds touches the wall, there is a lot of dust on the floor under there. But the bathroom was very clean."

"We were attending a wedding in Oxford and the city centre hotels were very expensive. The reviews for the Black Boy were good so we booked. It was a joy to stay here and we had a fabulous weekend.. Great location - about 10 mins in taxi from centre and bus stop about 5 mins or so walk. Buses went to the city centre and railway station. The room was lovely, as were the welcoming staff. Breakfasts were very good and the pub had a nice atmosphere and an outside garden area. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Oxford."

The hotel rooms are very clean and equipped with mineral water, which is actively replaced every day. The window view is also very good, near the castle and prison attractions, with beautiful scenery, and the hotel has its own backyard lawn and leisure space, which is very private. The exterior of the hotel is an ancient castle building, and the interior is also very new and has a sense of design. Overall, it is highly recommended."

"Haha, whatever you do, don't stay here! Arriving in this God-forsaken place called Oxford, I was already in despair from the bus ride. The buses don't announce stops, the drivers don't tell you anything, and there are no displays to show which stop you're at. Do Oxford people have their own survival rules with a design like this? Do they not need stop announcements and just know where to get off? Or is it a closed community not welcoming tourists? The hotel's location was terrible, and it looked like an abandoned building. The bed inside was incredibly dirty; it felt gritty to sleep on. For some strange reason, I was given an extra room during check-in, but the two rooms were one at the very front and one at the very back, which was bizarre. The hotel also doesn't have free WiFi, and there's no service to speak of. The door with the key was very stiff and hard to open. It's far from the bus stop and very inconvenient, and the location is hard to find. It was pouring rain when I arrived, and moving luggage almost drove me crazy. For luggage storage, there's no one watching it, and they don't even put labels on anything; it's just a pile dumped in a storage room. I had no choice but to deal with it to go out and explore. The hotel seemed mostly empty, with absolutely no redeeming qualities. The price kept dropping after I booked, yet the interface kept showing 'no rooms available' as a hunger marketing tactic. Bicester Village is really for the rich; Burberry went from 20,000 to 15,000, and 10,000 to 7,000. There are definitely discounts, but ordinary people don't buy that many luxury items. The discounts on other things felt pretty average. I went once and don't want to go again."

"Completely unacceptable treatment of guests This was an absolutely unacceptable experience. We arrived at the hotel on 6 August at 8:01 pm with our 11-year-old child and our luggage. The room had been fully paid for almost six months in advance. Only when we were already on our way did we receive a notification — just one hour before our arrival — that the hotel had cancelled our booking. The most shocking part is that our money had still not been refunded. So the hotel cancelled a fully paid reservation at the very last minute, left us without accommodation in the evening, kept our money, and did not even offer a proper apology. We were travelling with a child, exhausted after the journey, with suitcases, and suddenly had to urgently search for another place to stay late in the evening. This caused us considerable stress, inconvenience and additional expense. A hotel should not be allowed to treat guests this way. Cancelling a reservation at the last minute after holding the guest's money for months is completely unacceptable. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. If a hotel cannot honour a confirmed and prepaid reservation, it should take responsibility for the consequences and provide an appropriate alternative — not leave a family with a child to deal with the situation themselves. We are now seeking a full refund and compensation for the additional costs and serious inconvenience caused by the hotel's cancellation."
