"I had wanted to stay in this hotel since I was a kid, so I was looking forward to a bit of comparative luxury after only ever using Travelodges and B&Bs. It may be my funny coloured hair and tattoos, but the security asked to see my room key repeatedly throughout our one night stay. Went outside to pick up some shopping- show keycard. Went to reception with an enquiry- show keycard. Popped outside briefly- show keycard. Return from night out, show keycard to enter hotel, show it to approach the lift, and again whilst waiting for lift. It was worse than Manchester airport security and made me feel very unwelcome. Which was a shame, as check in was lovely and we were given a room with a bath as requested, so I had high hopes. I won't bother in future, and will stay at a Travelodge, as it's clearly more my level"

"Really nice hotel. Arrived very early and had both rooms ready which was a wonderful welcome and really appreciated! Friendly check in and a really clean, nice looking hotel. Car park is small and really tight to get out of so don't take a big SUV! Only issue was with pillows not being firm enough for our preference but that's a personal sensitivity. We usually take ours with us. Overall, a lovely hotel and will defo stay again."

"Have stayed several times when visiting family. Was disappointed this time not to have a fridge I had assumed all rooms had them and due to me booking later than normal I'd paid a higher rate than usual but got a shabbier room.I think they had changed the room I had booked as I'd booked a standard double but opened door up to a small room with a double and single bed set up. I didnt want my towels changing or room servicing but i witnessed reception staff constantly telling people they couldn't have there rooms serviced as they hadn't asked the day before and if you dont ask they dont go in to even change cups or empty bins. It hasn't put me off staying again."

"Have stayed here 4 times in the last couple of years. Price paid is good value for setting, location, spa facilities but the rooms are definitely looking tired. Was upgraded once and there was a huge difference in the general cleanliness and decor of the room. General house and communal areas are stunning and grand but rooms under any ‘deals’ are quite basic and are very far from the reception and facilities so not so good if mobility could be an issue. Overall it ticks a lot of boxes for a familiar and convenient one night stay."

The original room we were given had an awful unbearable stench, the room was not fit for use and I don’t believe housekeeping had not noted this. The staff member who dealt with my request for a room change was just rude!! No apology for inconvenience and didn't speak when handing over key card. I also don't get why we were sent an email suggesting we book a table for breakfast to then be told this is not an option. So why is there a poster in the lift suggest booking?"

Staff member told me the windows open so that helps but may be issue in summer ! Also I was situated adjacent to the student accommodation next door. I was woken during the night with noise from the students but hey Ho, we were all young once ! Also having the window open you can hear other noises from the street during the night"
