Hotels near Hikawa Shrine, Tokyo

The hotel is 5 mins walk from Sugamo Station that has both subway and JR trains, which makes it a good area to live in. There are shops and restaurants all around. The hotel is clean and provides free bottles of water, though the water from the tap is suitable for drinking. The staff is friendly and helpful, both English speaking and non-English speaking.

I liked this place. A pretty standard classic capsule hotel: sizeable capsule with a console, daily turnover service, large shower and onsen room with an attached steam room. Service was good: they have an army of twinks working there after hours, it was like being checked in by BTS. All issues I had with my capsule (broken lightbulb) were addressed quickly and cheerfully. Sometimes it kinda seemed like they were laughing at a few of the foreign guests, but you know what, fair. This place is kinda rules heavy, with lots of notices posted around the property. There is no eating or drinking in the capsules, and instead you have to go to this common area that feels a bit like a hospice for abandoned uncles. Vending machines, manga library, smoking cubicles, that sorta thing. Clean and tidy though, equal numbers of dudes using it for remote working and day drinking (I have a feeling that some ppl live in this place). They have the usual elaborate system of lockers and keys, but they will store your luggage for you while you are out. No need to check out in the day. Overall a chill experience. While I was staying there though some dude did have a mini breakdown about what he saw as it's shortcomings, so I just wanted to comment on that. According to him the place was disgusting. He was especially perturbed by the housekeeping service and the showers. His claim was the the toilets were dirty and that it was unacceptable to fold bedsheets on the floor. Mind you, he was having this rant at 10:30 - checkout is at 10:00, meaning that a whole stampede of airport-bound weebs had just taken spicy ramen fuelled power dumps so they could get out of there on time. Most of the day the facilities were pretty spotless in my opinion. In regards to folding the bedsheets on the floor, I dunno what in the Disney princess he was expecting, but there really isn't anywhere else to do it. I think it's unreasonable to expect little doves to come fly your linens into your capsule tbh. The capsules are literally on... the floor! What do you want? His overall complaint that the space was generally messy was a lot more valid. At this point I had a suspicion that they kind of segregated foreigners from Japanese customers. It's true, that the foreign floor was a bit of a tip - luggage thrown around, empty bottles everywhere, garbage. I went up to the Japanese floors to snoop around a bit. Spotless. (Pictures of both included for comparison) In this case I think the call is coming from inside the capsule, not really fair to hold the staff accountable to your own messy manners. His final gripe was about the showers - specifically the lack of private cubicles. Private cubicles were not advertised anywhere and Japanese onsens are pretty standardly communal spaces, so again I dunno what he wanted. Maybe a shower, with a curtain? Maybe a shower with a door? Maybe a shower with a psychic forcefield that would make his ex girlfriends forget his underwhelming junk and prevent his father from behind disappointed in him? I'm not sure. But I guess the dozen shower stations with soap, shampoo, and face wash weren't cutting it. In fact a lot of the Western guests seemed pretty pranged out by the shower situation, waiting until like two am to wash up and then scurrying around the baths with a hand towel infront of their package like a little purse. If you regret going bald, that's on you. Kinda silly, but if you are bashful maybe this also isn't the hotel for you. Unreasonable though to blame the establishment for you own shame. Anyway, that's all to say the worst part of my stay was for sure the ranting and raving from an unshowered backpacker while I was trying to have a lie in. Otherwise a pretty decent stay.

The bunk beds gave me a sense of being out of the ordinary, and the facilities were clean and functional, so I would definitely stay here again if I had the chance! Some people might be concerned about not knowing if the air conditioning was working, and that check-in and check-out are done via tablet, so you can't leave your luggage before check-in, but overall I was very satisfied. There was no bathtub, but I was happy that the toilet and bath were separate. Thank you very much.

The lady at the reception is very nice. The building may be very old, but the renovated part is beautiful. Clean and tidy.

This was my first time experiencing a capsule hotel, and I was amazed by how well everything was organized. The hotel is designed with a clear separation for two genders: male guests stay on the second and third floors, while female guests are on the seventh and eighth floors. There is a shared common room where everyone can relax, work, or chat — the transparent glass walls offer stunning views of the surrounding area, making it a delightful place to unwind. Each guest is assigned a personal locker, which can be accessed using a unique card with a QR code linked to the capsule number — a thoughtful and secure system. Male and female bathrooms are located on separate floors, but there are also toilets conveniently available on the capsule floors for nighttime use. It’s impressive how much thought went into the design of this space. A nice touch was the complimentary tonic booster drink for guests. Overall, the capsule experience was unique and enjoyable. I do wonder if capsule hotels for couples exist — that would be an interesting concept to try!

I could feel the quiet Otsuka, and it was on the third floor without Elbe. Otsuka than the gorgeous place!! ~ There were many restaurants near the station and it was good I was fascinated by the charm of Otsuka and will stay here again saying that I will come back to the wall.

I just checked out this morning and I must say this is one of the best hotel that I've ever stayed. The location is very close to the station and it makes everything easier to commute-especially Tabata Station is one of the station in Yamanote Line. You can basically go to anywhere in Tokyo using this line. The hotel is a self-service hotel but I saw the staff coming out from a room to help someone who having problem for check-in. But I don't think they will standby 24-hours there. Anyways, the self check-in was very easy to navigate by yourself so you should be okay-unless the booking code isn't working. I don't have any bad experience while staying here. However there was a mild inconvenience where the room had some sounds (like vibration or something, not so sure) all night long. Maybe it was coming from the train passing by (?) But I am not sure about it but it was just an mild issue for me. You will fall asleep if you are tired and the sounds should not be bothered you that much. I couldn't think what happened if I didn't book this hotel for my trip. I will definitely come back to stay again in this hotel.

Before coming, I was a bit worried about the hotel's age and potential issues with its facilities. However, upon arrival, it exceeded my expectations. The environment is top-notch, and the hygiene is excellent. They provide a wide range of high-quality amenities. The room was tidied up perfectly every day. Key points: The hotel's location is superb, extremely close to the central shopping area of Ikebukuro. Even on rainy days, spending an entire day at Sunshine City, which is connected to the hotel, is no problem. Furthermore, the dining options in Ikebukuro are surprisingly affordable. You can find quality meals with good service for 1000-1500 yen. Even if you don't want to eat out, the FamilyMart on the first floor of the hotel can cover all your meals with a rich variety of options. Lastly, the transportation is very convenient. From Ikebukuro East Station, you can easily reach Shinjuku and Shibuya. From the West Station, you can get to Ueno, Ginza, and Sumida.

The location is easy to find, about a 10-minute walk to Ueno. There's a convenient Lawson right outside the door if you turn right. However, other guests are very noisy when they return late at night, constantly packing their luggage. The sound of suitcases and items being dropped is really loud. Even though the guesthouse clearly states quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM, some guests are inconsiderate. The noise starts as early as 4-5 AM, which is unacceptable. Friends, please take this into consideration if you're thinking of staying here. It's an all-female floor. Also, there's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage up to the second floor yourself – another point to consider. Slippers and towels cost 100 yen.

Cheap and clean!!! Location near supermarket and kombini. I wish they fixed and clean that laundry room upstairs. The mold is kind of scary
