Arima Onsen Hotspring
Pros: service, amenities, Western and Japanese style rooms, food, location Cons: there is no elevator in this old Japanese building, so prepare to walk up stairs; the wifi reception in our room was not reliable We had an absolutely amazingly relaxing stay during our 3-day-2-night trip, enjoying the peace Tocen Goshobo had to offer, as well as their exceptional customer service. I searched high and low to finally find this ryokan with very specific amenities. Since my elderly parents had issues with getting up from the floor had we stayed in a traditional ryokan only, while I wanted to enjoy the full traditional ryokan experience, the Deluxe Suite with Private Hot Spring and Sauna was the perfect compromise for both our wants and needs. The Deluxe Suite has both two full sized western beds that were perfect for my parents, and the tatami sitting room that could be closed off for me to sleep in with my super comfy futon bedding. By no means is the room and experience itself a compromise, as my father kept calling it the ‘Presidential suite’ since it was on the top floor, and we had abundant space with our own onsen attached to the room! The room can fit 6 total guests, and has a secret playroom, a seating nook/area with perfect natural light, a dining room with regular table and chairs (in other ryokans, my tall Caucasian husband commented on how much he missed having actual chairs with space for your legs to stretch when seated), an office, a powder room, two bidet toilets rooms, a space to prepare tea with its own sink in the tatami room, and let’s not forget the massage chair. The room was clean, tastefully appointed, had everything we needed and plenty of space to either gather, or spend some ‘me time’. We opted for breakfast and dinner at the inn, which we looked forward to each day. The breakfast was pleasant and filling, while the kaiseki dinners were amazing. Kobe beef was featured as well as plenty of seafood both nights. We had a great time with our host, Yoshinori Tatebe-san, who tolerated my many questions of ‘what is this?’ or ‘how do we eat this?!’; his professionalism absolutely made our meals a tremendous delight! The location of the ryokan/onsen is ideal, walking distance to everything and right next to a bus stop. It’s in the heart of the Arima area, which has many temples, restaurants, and shops to explore. One cannot deny the outstanding customer service Tocen Goshobo’s team offers. Shout out to Hatsumi and Matsu at the front desk, making sure we were well taken care of, offering absolutely above and beyond service! When Hatsumi was helping me get settled on my first day arrival, I had asked her about the beautiful tokonoma (alcove) that was in the wa****su (tatami room). Unfortunately, I had asked so many questions she couldn’t quite answer me fully! A few days later, she showed me a note where she apparently took the time to think over my question and write it out in English so I would understand the importance of the a

Arima Onsen Hotspring
When i arrived with my friend, we were greeted warmly at the entrance and were explained everything at the front desk. After the check in, the Lady showed and explained to us the common rooms as well as the bath. Rooms were very good. The cafe area is also very good. Well i can go on forever like that. Long story short i very much recommend this Hotel, especially for couples. Just the price makes it not possible to come here more frequently^^. They have a shuttle service as well, even so the station is just 5 minute walk from the ryokan. But i guess for elderly people or people with heavy luggage that might be a help. The breakfast was great, with the ladys in Kimono explaining a bit and the view was superb. Most restaurants close in the evening, so we could see a lot of people storming the convenient stores^^. As for most of the Hotels: The staff is what makes the difference. And here i give them a special thanks. Very kind, friendly and helpful. I hope they will be there again when i come next time. improvement tipps: No lockers in one of the Onsen. Also the Phone had no description, so not even a japanese person know what number to dial -.- . Also for me personally i would like that the opening times for the cafe area is longer. It is so comfortable there^^.

I stayed with my wife on October 11th using ANA miles. There are 40 rooms, but there were 3 groups of customers, including us, and we had no contact with other customers, so we were able to relax in a reserved state. What impressed me the most was the thorough new corona countermeasures. The whole building was coated with an antiviral titanium oxide solvent, which made me feel very safe. The food is delicious, but the cost is high so it's worth it. The room I requested was the lowest room, so I can't complain about anything. There were a lot of rooms available, so if you could upgrade one rank for free, it would have been very comfortable and highly rated. I have stayed at various inns in Arima Onsen, but I don't think I will go there again.

Kobe Harbor
This time, I specially arranged a day to stay at Maiko Seaside Hotel in Kobe, because I wanted to enjoy Maiko Park and Akashi Bridge comfortably and up close. The hotel is very large, with majestic buildings and facilities. It is an old five-star hotel and environment. It feels like our state guesthouse. You can enjoy the bridge and the sea up close in the room. The buffet lunch is good, with rich dishes. It is very pleasant to sit in the restaurant while enjoying the food and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The hotel has an elevator that can go to a place a few minutes away from the bridge and the sea, and it is a horizontal elevator, which is a very special experience. Maiko Park is very beautiful, with Akashi Bridge, the sea, Sun Yat-sen Museum and some locals running and fishing. Living nearby should be very happy. The hotel is one of the necessary itineraries that should be arranged for Kobe tours!

Arima Onsen Hotspring
We had a wonderful 1 night stay a few months ago before tourism opened back up. Highly recommend this place for people who are into more private, chill time. Loved the concept of this ryokan because instead of shared baths there were numerous choices of private baths throughout the property! Each needed to be booked in advance for a 45 minute session. They had an online reservation system but I think it was only in Japanese (my husband's native language) so I can't comment on that. Our room was fantastic; modern and huge, but still had charm. I think we were in Suite 13 which had its own private bath which you could open up the huge windows to a nice tranquil view of greenery. I liked that the entry had a super long hallway which helped with any noise (so quiet!). Personal touches such as selecting a complimentary gift (small drawstring bag) and fruit tray was noticed and appreciated. They were also very helpful to find us a restaurant to eat dinner at on a Sunday night (since we opted to not have the course dinner) - it was a delightful local meal ran by a married couple! I wish I remembered the name but it was izakaya home cooking style and so delicious. The breakfast on property was AWESOME. I opted to get the Western Style and my husband the Japanese. Such presentation and variety and a perfect start to our day. We would definitely be back to visit this place. They made us feel very welcome and relaxed! Arigatou gozaimasu *bow*

I went by car. The parking lot is opposite the multi-storey car park and the inn. It may be a little small if you go by large car. The parking lot on the day of stay can be parked after 10 am. I checked in at 15:00, but I arrived early because it was crowded the day before the Arima Onsen holiday. After taking a walk, I returned to the inn at 14:00. From there, I was allowed to wait for an hour at the front desk. 10 minutes ago, the male staff explained the facilities and emergency exits in the building while saying an extra word that it was a little early. If you are an inn like this, you will serve welcome tea and sweets and entertain you at first, but it may be a shortage of labor. The room had an open-air bath. I was satisfied with the massage chair, but unlike the image I saw in advance, the sheets were laid on the mattress. Did you miss the futon? It was so thin. For dinner, he offered beef and sashimi close to the edge, probably because he was conscious of profitability. The white rice is not sharpened well or it is scalded. The soup stock tastes like the second soup stock, probably because it was taken wrong. When I was sleeping early in the morning, I woke up with the loud sound of dropping the plate in preparation for breakfast. For breakfast, the squid sashimi was messed up, probably because I dropped the plate. He gave it to me without putting it in the envelope at check-out. Thank you very much. No word. I didn't help carry my luggage even though there were three people at the entrance. The family next door was helping me pretending to be unseeing. Older women have high customer service capabilities, and young women have the lowest customer service capabilities. I felt that tradition was obsolete in this way. Arima has other good inns. The inn that cannot be multiplied by hot springs, food and customer service is the worst. I was disappointed.
