JJohnathan49We tried to book this lesser known hotel in the area and guess what, we were glad we did got the opportunity to stay in this lovely hotel. The staff was kind and sincere even though they tried their best to speak converse with us in english. The room we stayed in was those like ryokan kind with a toilet in it. Shower area are shared among other guests which is linked to a shared indoor and outdoor onsen areas as well. They have a private onsen as well which you do not need to book, just need to lock the door outside to inform people that you're using it.
The best part of this experience is that we opted for dinner and breakfast and we were just blown away especially the dinner course menu. They provided like 10 different type of dishes for you to taste which includes the iconic hida beef as well!
Everything for one night is so affordable around SGD $200+ which is definitely worth it!

GGuest UserI really enjoyed the traditional Japanese inn with a one-night stay, two meals, and private baths. The room was very clean, and the private baths were spacious enough for two adults and two children. I was worried that July would be too hot to soak in the hot springs, but perhaps because it's in the mountains, the weather was pleasant and the evenings were cool, making the hot springs very enjoyable. ❤️ There are also two private baths on site, no reservations required, first come, first served, and the scenery is beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here. 👍🏻

GGuest UserStayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.

JJolin007An absolutely fantastic hotel with magnificent scenery and surroundings. It even has foot bath pools right at the entrance. Visiting during the off-season, the price was incredibly reasonable. The hot spring baths within the hotel require no extra charge. There are both outdoor and indoor pools, including options for shared and private hot springs. Any private bath with its light on is available for guests to use. However, please note that the private baths do not have shower facilities.
The hotel also organizes several complimentary activities, such as marshmallow roasting. Nestled in a forest, the views are simply breathtaking, no matter where you look.
At specific times, guests can enjoy complimentary ice cream, milk, yogurt, coffee, and afternoon tea. There's also a delicious free dinner offered at certain hours, though restaurant reservations are essential. The beautiful views from the restaurant windows make dining there an absolute delight.
The hotel offers bathrobes in a wide range of colors and patterns, allowing guests to choose according to their personal taste. While the selection for children's bathrobes is more limited (unlike other hotels that often only provide one generic style), the hotel is still very thoughtful and accommodating.

WWenjing_susieTransportation: After arriving at Takayama Bus Station, take a bus to Fukuchi Onsenkou, which is about an hour's drive. You can see the hotel when you get off the bus, which is very convenient.
Environment: Traditional Japanese inn, the overall environment is good, and the wood is very elegant. The facilities in the room are a bit old, but clean. The room is quite large. The hot springs are divided into indoor and outdoor, and there are two private baths. There is no extra charge. You can go in and use them when no one is there. You can enjoy the public pool alone during non-peak hours, which is very comfortable. Since the hotel is far away from the bus terminal, there are more local tourists than hotels near the terminal. There are fewer people overall and the experience is good.
Service: Non-Japanese native speakers have difficulty communicating, and the waiters generally do not understand English, so it is difficult to provide services. The service is not very enthusiastic, but it can basically meet the needs. There is no bed-making service at night, so you need to do it yourself.
Food and Beverage: The room rate includes two meals, which is very cost-effective. Breakfast and dinner are both Japanese, and dinner includes Hida beef. The quantity is quite large, and you can eat full, and the taste is acceptable.
The overall level is good, especially the price is very affordable among all hot spring hotels. It is a choice I would recommend to my friends.

BblablablacksheepThe Maps lead us to further location And imagine we had passed the building like 3times back and forth but didn’t know that was it. Pls update the location on the maps here on trip. Room is ok, no shower room no big issue coz we go to onsen anyway. Got buffet dinner and breakfast. But receptionist didn’t update the breakfast cut off time is 8:45am and we reach there by 8:50 its already closed. One thing about japanese onsen resort is that they will close everything in the morning to prevent customer to fully utilise the facilities for what we paid for. We usually rest on the evening the day we arrive and only use the facilities in the morning. Not really recommended here coz they really scare their customer use the facilities😂

Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room.
We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking.
The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs.
Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

GGuest UserWe visited to Yakidake Garden Hotel in Feb’24. First of all their outdoor onsen is absolutely worth to pay a visit. Think about you may enjoy fantastic snow view while relaxing in comfortable onsen with love one and friends in group (body wrap cloth is provided by hotel). Secondly the hotel is surrounded by wonderful view. You can even see waterfall from corridor window! Last but also I recommend this hotel the most is their package meal and service. Hida beef included set dinner is served at high level standard. Staffs are helpful, rooms are tidy and well equipped.
We absolutely will come back upon next visit to Takayama area.
