"One of our best stays during my time in Japan! The staff were very friendly. She shared with us where we should go for onsen, dinner and places to visit. Breakfast was simple but very hearty. We are touched that they considered our food restrictions and adjusted accordingly. Very thoughtful! We could also use the yucata and jacket to walk around town. Love this experience very much! The onsen is also lovely. We highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again. P.s they don't have yamato service if you need to deliver your baggage."

"A charming and comfortable traditional Japanese ryokan. The location is excellent, directly opposite the JR station; you can easily reach it by following the pedestrian signs across the railway tracks. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They kindly allowed us to store our luggage before check-in, which was great for exploring the onsen town without any burden. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and ample Japanese meals (washoku), for which you could confirm a preferred seating time. Complimentary coffee was also available in the first-floor lobby lounge. The onsen facilities were excellent, including a lovely open-air bath (rotenburo). Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend this ryokan."

"It is very close to the JR Takayama Line station. You can put your luggage there before visiting the town of Shimoro. It is a pure Japanese-style hotel with a 24-hour hot spring, which is comfortable. The uncle at the front desk speaks very good Chinese and is enthusiastic. He explains things clearly. The breakfast is Japanese, so you can experience the Japanese lifestyle."

We booked a private onsen, which was wonderful, and the room itself was spacious, bright, and fully equipped. There was plenty of hot water, and the bedding was comfortable and warm. The public bath was also clean, tidy, and well-appointed. The hotel's location is excellent, and they even provide a free shuttle bus, which was a very considerate touch. There's a Lawson convenience store nearby, making it super convenient for shopping. It was also very easy to visit the nearby Shirakawa-go village. Our vacation and leisure experience was fantastic. "First, the food was pretty good. You can pre-order an extra menu for dinner; check the hotel's official website for details. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet style, and you can sit anywhere. The hotel's location is a bit inconvenient; the entire walk from Gero is uphill and exhausting. You can book a shuttle bus or take a taxi; it's about a 3-4 minute walk. This time, I chose a room with a private open-air hot spring bath, which was very comfortable. The large public bath on the second floor is also quite spacious. The hotel has a complimentary relaxation area where you can sample plum wine and fruit juice popsicles. There are massage chairs on the first floor for 300 yen for 15 minutes. The lounge on the second floor has complimentary foot massagers."

"This place is huge, I've never seen a bigger room around here! It's awesome. The only thing is, it's a bit of a trek from the station, but whatever. I did have a small problem with reception in the morning; I needed a taxi and they said they'd book one, but it never showed up! So I had to sort it out myself. Still, it's a great place, but hopefully, they'll improve their service a bit."

"What a satisfying trip! The duplex room had a living room on the lower level and a bedroom, bathroom, and open-air bath on the upper level, fulfilling my long-held dream of staying in a duplex. The hotel was huge, with public baths on the 2nd and 8th floors respectively. Both were large and very comfortable to soak in, but the open-air bath in the room was even more convenient and relaxing, especially in the morning while enjoying the view – a wonderful experience. The room was fully equipped. Dinner was arranged at the Western restaurant, and my husband said the sound system there was incredibly expensive. Breakfast was a buffet, mainly Japanese-style, which didn't quite suit our tastes."

"This stay was in a room between two baths. The room came with two private pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor pool was too deep to get in and out of, rendering it unusable. The outdoor pool had great views and the hot spring water was excellent, though it was a bit small. The room itself was a bit cold. After contacting the hotel, they provided a space heater, but it had a gasoline smell."

"Gero Hongyekan Wanboting is really great! In Japan's three famous springs, Geroizumi, the service is very good. There is an open-air bath on the roof of a sister hotel, and there is a car to pick up and drop off at any time from 9 to 12 in the evening, which is very convenient. The water quality is so good, the sun that soaks up the skin will slide down when it falls on it. A wonderful hotel experience! The beauty at the front desk drove me out to buy urgently needed products when I was in an emergency. Every detail was great. The Japanese-style room was also spacious. I really like this place.
