Excellent! Very satisfied for this onsen hotel!! Definitely recommend this accommodation to friends and family. Everything is over expectation: services, facilities, room, public bath (onsen), food, and all. One drawback would be language barrier between some staff, but they really trying to communicate with us which is impressive. Also, there is a free shuttle bus service between train station and hotel during daytime, very convenient. Tips for me is to book this hotel on weekdays, it is half price cheaper than weekends or holidays.

This is my second stay in Gero. The first time I stayed at Yunoshimakan, which is the most popular in the country, I noticed this hotel on the opposite mountain when I checked in. I feel that the location is better than Yunoshimakan, but this hotel is domestic I can’t find any reviews on major domestic software, and the price is higher. This time I booked it completely with a try, but the feeling after check-in really did not disappoint me: First of all, let’s talk about the location: the hotel is on the upper reaches of the Gero River. On the hillside of the west bank, a bird's eye view of Gero is completely unobstructed. If you want to go to Gero Onsen Street or the station, you can ask the hotel attendant to drive there at any time and make an appointment to return to the hotel in advance. The driver will wait at the station on time, and these are free. Second, the hotel’s service is still very good, but the disadvantage is that English is not good. There is only one girl who is Indian and can speak simple English. The other waiters can only communicate in Japanese. The hotel has no waiters who can speak Chinese. There is a slight obstacle to communication. This is also the different positioning of the hotel and the Yunoshima Pavilion. The Yuzhidao Pavilion is full of the voices of Chinese and Taiwanese. It is basically a quiet and quiet Japanese. Regarding the sanitation of the hotel, this may be the most I have seen. It’s a good hotel. I changed my shoes when I entered the hotel. The floor was spotless. Even the carpet in the living room of the room had no signs of being used. The toilet had no peculiar smell. The decoration looked very new. The guest room was very large and looked about 70 square meters. , Each guest room has a living room, dressing room, toilet, bathroom, and bar. The living comfort is extremely high. Thirdly, I saw the layout of the hotel. The hotel has 10 floors. The third floor is a hot spring. Both men and women have indoors. Outdoor hot spring, the guest rooms are from the fourth floor to the tenth floor. There are only 3 rooms on each floor. I booked a private bath. It was on the fourth floor. After observation, there was no private bath on the 5th-10th floors. The spring water of the Lou private hot spring and the water source of the public hot spring on the 3rd floor come from different mountains, so there is a little difference in smell. Personally I feel that I should book a private soup, because the waiter said that the public hot spring is not open in the morning, which means that I can’t enjoy it on the morning of check-out, and the private soup is still OK. In terms of meals, because we chose to eat out, we only booked breakfast. Each hot spring hotel tastes the same, and the price is not necessary. Finally, I found on major travel software that some of the hotel’s names were Songyue and some were Zhangyue, but in fact, this hotel only has a Japanese name, which translates to a string of Japanese words called Tonight Starry Sky or something. In short, it is worth recommending and worth coming again.

The exterior picture of the hotel is not consistent with the reality. There is no Japanese-style entrance location. If you need pick-up service, you may need to inform in advance. In addition, there is a private bath on the 2nd floor, and you must make an appointment in advance. All the waiters are very nice and they will rent yukata for free, which I am very satisfied with. Everything in the room was good, but the hotel facilities were a bit old, including the Wi-Fi connection which took a while and was not used effectively. In addition, the large public bath and open-air bath are also of an old-style design. There are no locked lockers. The lights are a bit pale at night and there are not many people. I hope the hotel can replace them with brighter lights. Meals will be served in the room, and the taste is not too special.

The hotel is settled in the middle of Gero Hot Spring town, short walk from the train station and can also be reached via bus from Kamikochi area. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. You can feel the spirit of older times in this hotel with a lot of beautifully selected decoration pieces. The manager showed us around and even offered us a new room since I accidentally booked one without shower (we declined that offer since we only wanted to stay for one night). That’s why we used the Onsen area for showering which is beautiful and includes all amenities. View above Gero and including an outside Onsen area to watch the sunrise. The staff was very friendly, the manager even drove us to the bus station since we forgot our jackets in the bus. The bar is well-equipped and a great place for a drink or two. One of the best parts was the breakfast. Never had such a good Japanese breakfast before- delicious, served in a private room, beautifully arranged. Next time we want to try their dinner :-) We felt like family and I can recommend anyone going to Gero to stay at this great hotel! Thanks again for your hospitality!

An old hotel that retains its grandness.. Although at check in, I was informed there's a charge only if I take the flowery yukata. There are free surprises in the Japanese room every day. Clean Japanese socks, towels in bags and a different Japanese sweet every day with Japanese tea My room faces the Hida River, it was beautiful looking out. It is very near the rail line, but it didn't disturb me. And I suppose all river facing hotels face the same light loving insects. But if you follow the instructions placed in the room, it is alright

This is the best onsen hotel we’ve stayed in, among those we’ve stayed in for the past 12 years! We stayed here for 2 nights. We’ve extremely grateful to the hosts for their outstanding service and hospitality from the heart. Loved the thoughtfully varied menu for each meal. The establishment is spotlessly clean and excellently maintained. Each morning, our towels and yukata (hotel gowns) were replaced. So were the amenities ( fragrant green tea packs, snacks). The housekeeping staff even offered to mop our rooms after only one night’s stay. The wifi was also fast and sustained well in the guest room and public lounge areas. There are facilities to cater to a wide range of age groups from seniors like us and children too. There were ample resting chairs in the lounge and on the way to the historian’s well as guest rooms. The best facility was the hot springs! They are exactly as depicted in the hotel website. Numerous indoor pools of various temperature all have the renowned ‘beautifying’ odorless alkaline water. My skin felt so smooth and moisturized after only one soak. What’s more the hot springs stay open for in-house guests from 10.30 am to 11 pm and day-trip visitors from 10.30 am to 8 pm. In-house guests can also use the hotsprings early from 6 to 9 am. There is a European dry sauna as well as wet steam rooms in both make and female hotspring areas. We would love to stay here again!
