__M1363120****Really enjoyed my staycation at the Mandarin Hutong with my favorite person. We booked the hotel's basic room type, and the hotel generously offered a complimentary two-level upgrade at check-in. During our stay, they also provided tea and bottled water for brewing it. The room itself already came with a wide selection of complimentary soft drinks and a bottle of white wine. Sticking to the principle of not wasting anything, haha, and with a local friend joining us for a game of 'Guandan' (a Chinese card game) in the room, we made sure to fully enjoy all the beverages, trying not to let anything go to waste! 😁 The only minor point of criticism was one of the Mandarin staff members; it seemed like her knowledge of the hotel's room types was less than mine, who just browses forums, which was a bit awkward. 😅 Overall, it was very much worth it. I look forward to coming back here for a second visit with her in a different season in the future.

SSam0001Lovely. Helpful to assist us check in as we reach early at 8am The laundry washer and dryers are useful amenities. Did not manage to try the midnight snack, looking forward to this. The team frequently shared warm drinks as we went up to our room, this is a strong plus for service. Relatively clean room, slightly dusty. Size is actually ok for us couple. There is a joined table for study/work. There is also a space at the lobby as well. Food delivery is fantastic with use of robots. Location is also shy of a 5min walk from the subway. We love this connectivity.

MM235913****My stay was excellent! The location is superb, within walking distance to the business district, making transportation incredibly convenient. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The desk and chair were spacious and functional. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and very quick to respond to any requests. The breakfast offered a rich variety of options and was well-balanced, making for a pleasant meal. This hotel offers incredible value for money, making it my top choice for future business trips!

GGuest UserI travelled solo to beijing first time. Xilian hotel was an amazing experince. I just loved the service and the manners they had. The lovely man who checked me in knew english and upgraded me which I am so thankful for. The room service was very polite. One person stood out for their service as a receptionist, Li Jia-Hui employee number 13, she helped me for so long through out the night to book my tickets to badaling great wall of china. She was an amazing professional person that I am so grateful for. People like her really makes me want to come back to Xilian hotel next time I am in beijing. The hotel was super clean, everything worked, laundry self service was really good and automated, it dispensed the detergent itself. They even had ironing equipment too. The gym was good, but it would be nice to have a small rack of dumbell weights, they also gave water in the gym. The room was just amazing it had automated curtains, and Led lights in the mirrors and under the bed. They even had extra mirrors with lights on it for attention to detail on your face. The toilets are super clean and automated. Music played when you walked in. The sofas in the room were like brand new. The bed was super comfortable. I had 2 huge tvs one infront of the bed and the other infront of the sofa. I didnt use the tv so not sure about the channels. The hot tub i had in my room was out of this world, i really loved it. Super hygenic because they gave a plastic clear sheet to put in the hot tub then you step inside it and enjoy, then rip the sheet up after to let the water to be drained. The shower also also really big and clean with some sort of stoned or marble flooring with shower gel and stuff supplied. Slippers were given in the room also bottles of water (it was really good water) and some small cans of coke and sprite i think it was and some herbal tea bags you can make yourself. Robots were delivering food around the hotel which was cool to see. Also the light controls in the rooms were lovely, with different settings on them. They had a cafe down stairs that was nice. Breakfast was really nice all different types of food were given a wide variety anyone would be pleased. It was absolutely delicious. The hotel was top quailty it made my stay in beijing much more enjoyable. It was also nice and warm even though it was freezing outside in december. Special thanks to Li Jia-Hui employee number 13 truly grateful to her she went so far just to help me she deserves a bonus. If you read this review and trying to decide to stay here, trust me just book here you will enjoy your stay.

MM376875****The location is absolutely fantastic, super close to the Forbidden City, Wangfujing, and Tiananmen Square. The auntie on the third floor was exceptionally kind and warm. The front desk lady was also wonderful; she helped carry my luggage to the room and even walked me to the door when I left. The room has a Bluetooth speaker with excellent sound quality. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Beijing. The Zhajiangmian at the restaurant was quite tasty, and they even provided complimentary fruit in the room. Siji Minfu and Baye Shuanrou are both nearby and delicious.

__WeChat32331****Someone swiped a card and entered my room in the middle of the night. I was already lying down and about to rest, and it scared me quite a bit. The hotel didn't offer any explanation at the time, just told me to wait. Then they blamed me for not closing the door properly, but the truth is I hadn't left the room after the hotel housekeeping finished cleaning. This is truly outrageous. I ended up calling the police myself. Since it was very late, I pushed all the movable furniture in the room against the door to block it for the night. The next morning, I checked out as quickly as possible and will never go back. I highly advise solo female travelers to avoid this place; it's very unsafe.

MM255710****Fantastic experience! I booked a double room with a terrace, and that terrace was incredibly comfortable. During the day, I loved sitting out there, soaking up the sun, and sipping hot tea. Little stray cats would sunbathe on the roof, and the grey bricks and tiles truly captured the old Beijing charm. It was wonderfully peaceful yet still central. Although the room wasn't huge, it had a unique character with its wooden structure, feeling a bit like an ancient house. The breakfast was plentiful, with options like wontons, noodles, and tangyuan. After a tiring day of exploring, there was even an afternoon tea to enjoy. But the best part was their amazing service! From the moment I walked in, staff greeted me warmly, and I didn't have to carry my luggage up the stairs at all. The whole experience was top-notch, and I'll definitely be back! [Party emoji]

MM303531****This hotel is great for a weekend getaway with kids. Juyongguan Great Wall and Shuiguan Great Wall are nearby, with Shuiguan Great Wall being closer and less crowded, though a bit challenging to climb. The hotel is nestled in the mountains, offering a pleasant environment with individual villas dotted up the hillside. Our room was quite far, so we needed to drive to the lobby and restaurant. The hotel also offers many family-friendly activities. On our second morning, we participated in a valley hike, which was essentially a mountain climb – it requires some stamina. There were also quite a few downsides. Given how spread out the rooms are and how far they are from the lobby, one would expect butler service, but there was none. Moreover, it was very difficult to get through to the front desk from the room phone. For a self-proclaimed 'family-friendly hotel,' there weren't even children's slippers in the room. After finally getting through on the phone, it took an hour for them to be delivered. Why weren't they provided directly at check-in when they saw we had a child? The room itself was fairly large, but the bathroom lacked air conditioning/heating, and the shower was open-concept. This design might be fine in Sanya, but in Yanqing, showering at night was absolutely freezing. There was also water pooling, and when staff came to check, they said it was because the floor drain was too high, and nothing could be done, which was a bit frustrating. We had two meals at the hotel restaurant; the food was good, albeit a bit pricey. We also ate at a farmhouse restaurant down the mountain where the iron pot stewed fish was delicious – I forgot its name, but it had “Tell Old Mo I want to eat fish” written on the wall. Despite the downsides, it's still a good place for a weekend with kids. The hotel has an outdoor pool and a children's splash pool, which were closed due to the cold weather. We'll definitely bring the kids back in the summer.

QQuin56Review: Stay Home This trip was like an encounter with prehistoric man and a case study of a failed business combined. If you book a standard room, you will be taken away from the five star reception area to another building which has the decor and standards of a thirty year old hotel. Faded carpets, peeling walls, smelly interiors, uncleaned floors and rooms which are impossible to heat. But it was just about liveable, in that it had a bed and hot water. What totally failed to impress were the amenities. We'd come for the children's stuff, the little zoo, water park and others. The price of these are not included in the hotel, and for each experience they charge adults and baby to the tune of 80rmb, meaning you will spend quite a bit to use it all. As soon as I saw the children's rides I became depressed, they were rusting and looked murderous, as if the nuts and bolts would be dislodged and explode fatally in all directions if a kid shook too heavily on the things. To even use anything suggested you'd become unclean as well. Then you attempt to ask staff something but stop when you realise how futile it would be to address someone with one eye in its forehead and the other in its chin, with their peers boasting similarly fascinating facial misalignments. An hour of that and we wanted to leave, including our baby. She would have been much happier at home playing with her toys, or rather just happy at home doing anything than being at the Nirvana resort. Anyway, the swimming pool is not free either, they will charge you 58 a person including child. When I went to ask about a swim, staff were downright stunned I'd walked in to ask such a question, watching as I entered and left with hillbilly intensity and incomprehension. You can see the park had a lot of money invested in it before, way back in the misty past, but I can't see them recouping their losses. The resort is a grab money scheme with separate interests taking care of, or neglecting, what is on offer. I can't see them attracting a moneyed middle class without a total overhaul. On the plus side, my wife and I did have a good laugh about how bad it was and the fact we'd packed for a few days in expectation of a holiday, but found ourselves cancelling after an hour. The reception was helpful with this and refunded our money. The staff are well meaning in a vacuous kind of way, going about their duties as the whole place drops about them, broken lifts, falling plaster, water leaks and all. But to be sincerely positive, the gardens are pleasant along with the lake and ducks.

GGuest UserThe room attendant cleaned promptly, and there was a dedicated person in the lobby to operate the elevators. The gym and pool staff were friendly and welcoming. The deluxe view room, facing due east and located on floors 25 and above, is part of the executive level, offering panoramic views of the East Third Ring Road. In the mornings, you can gaze at the 'fog city' (referring to Beijing's occasional haze), and at night, admire the iconic illuminated landmarks. The nearby multi-story PwC building, lit 24/7, evoked many similar memories for me. The pool facilities were also excellent – a truly worthwhile experience!
