Top hotels charge top prices, provide top services, and provide top meals. Since the hotel has a history, it will naturally be surrounded by new buildings, but the garden view is also good. If you want to stay in an expensive hotel once in your life, this one will be your first choice.

Very classic. Excellent hot spring hotel. The hot spring is very comfortable. The room has a great view. The area is large. The food is not particularly outstanding. It is a bit tiring to eat. There are some memorable dishes missing. It is very convenient to watch the fireworks festival.

Friendly service, plentiful meals.

The staff was very attentive. When it rained heavily that day, I arrived at the hotel and gave me a towel and hair dryer. Pay attention to the location of the hotel, it's not easy to find, if there is a taxi left, it should arrive soon The private bath is good, for one or two people The room is tidy, the supplies are high-end, satisfactory Most drinks in the mini bar are free, except alcohol The staff doesn't speak English very well, but they still try their best to explain carefully, and their attitude is very good One stay and two meals are good, but people with a big appetite may not be full enough

Excellent service, beautiful environment, private bath in the room

I was going to give 4 stars(very good) for our one night stay, however due to the Bell desk attitude, I decided to give it an average. I have stayed at many Ryokans in Japan, when you check out and leave, hotel host, bell desk people will all see us off. This hotel is an exceptional, they did not seem to care if we are leaving. I suspect it is because we did not book a taxi with them, instead of called on our own. Nobody came out to help with the luggage and see us off. This is not a typical Japanese service. The man who works outside to direct traffic and answer question seemed to have attitude toward tourist from abroad. This is not acceptable. on the other hand, room service agent was a lovely lady, she served breakfast and dinner in our room, she was very friendly and professional. I cannot say enough good things about her and her service. Food quality was good and expected too. One bad apple ruined our whole experience with this hotel. the bell boy.

We had a brilliant stay here. Atami is small and vibrant. The ryokan came at just the right time in our trip. The staff are incredible and our room attendant Runa was so sweet and an absolute star. We loved her. We stayed in a Japanese style room and we are so happy we did. We had a private bath for when we weren’t up to the public bath but either is a delightful experience. Follow the kind guidance and you’ll be fine. The breakfasts and dinners served in the room were astounding in both quality and quantity. We had the Japanese menu and it was superb. The futons are made up for you each night and were really comfortable. There are also chairs if/when you need them. We cannot wait to return!

This was one of three ryokan that my wife and I stayed at recently in Atami and we really enjoyed it. We stayed in another ryokan that was much more expensive that the Furuya which we enjoyed, but we also very much enjoyed this ryokan and thought the value was better at its price. The room we had was very nice and large which probably contributed to us enjoying the stay. The food was excellent. We thought it was a little less pretentious that another higher end ryokan we stayed at. The location in Atami is great. You can just walk to some things whereas other ryokan were pretty limited in allowing you to do that. We loved the private onsen in our room, its just a beautiful setting. What carries this place over the top for us was the service. The staff are all great, but you really expect that of any place you go in Japan. But we both thought the our food server for dinner and breakfast was amazing. Since don't speak any Japanese, having someone who we could converse with in English while dining was perfect for us. Her attention to detail and service is enough to make us want to go back there just so we can have her assist us again. Her name is Miho and if we every go back to Atami, we will stay at the Furuya Ryokan and it will be because of her.

It is a sort of difficult to review a ryokan and write something very new. Different ryokans have many common characteristics. Cleanliness close to perfection, wonderful staff and outstanding service. What distinguish Furuya from some others I visited is excellent location. Conveniently close to Atami station, located practically inside the town, yet you enter different world of tranquility after entering ryokan. Room was surprisingly spacious. And food was amazing. Kaiseki style dinner was excellent, breakfast exceptional. Not to forget mention great onsen. Exceptional experience, worth visiting.

Although it is a well-established inn, it appears to have been renovated recently, as it was clean and comfortable; however, the shared toilet in the hallway looked a bit grubby, and I wondered if they hadn't had time to renovate it. Also, when we were shown to our room, there was no explanation of the emergency exits or anything like that. In the large communal bath, there was no partition between the area where each person washed. This is rare these days. Many of the rooms in this inn have open-air baths, so perhaps they don't offer such service for guests staying in cheaper rooms without open-air baths. My wife said that there was a partition in the women's bath. The food was delicious, but the portions were too large. Some inns offer a menu that prioritizes quality over quantity, rather than the usual meals, but this inn doesn't seem to go that far. I've complained about a lot of things above, but in other respects the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

I was satisfied with the room, the food, and the bath, but above all, the hospitality was excellent. The casual attention and greetings were very pleasant and I was able to spend a very satisfying time from arrival to departure. The room did not have an open-air bath, but it was spacious and clean, and probably because it had been renovated, it was very clean. Breakfast and dinner were served in the room, so I was able to relax and enjoy the food. There are few inns and hotels that offer in-room dining, so I hope they will continue this service in the future. Also, while most inns these days do not have dressing tables, I was impressed that there was a large three-way mirror on the veranda that reflected my entire body. There was also a special cushion, so I was able to get close to the mirror in a bright place and put on makeup. If I could be greedy, I would have liked a stand to put my makeup tools on. The bath was empty, probably because there are more rooms with open-air baths, so I was able to relax. The second lounge was lined with relatively new business books, practical books, novels, and other popular books, and I was able to take my time to read a few books while enjoying free coffee and the aroma of oranges and the appropriate background music. This time, it was just reading time, but there were also desks and tables where I could use my computer, so I hope to use it for workcation someday. It was a good walk from Sun Beach and the station, and in the morning I walked to Kunomiya Shrine. Until now, I have mostly come to Atami by car and done sightseeing by car, so it is conveniently located as there are many things within walking distance of the inn. The inn's original map was very easy to understand. I used the information on how to spend time in Atami on the website as a reference, but since it was information from other facilities, some of the prices and other information displayed were outdated. It is a low-rise inn in the city, so it is certainly unfortunate that there is no view (even so, you can faintly see the sea between the buildings, and when you open the window, you can feel the refreshing breeze from the sea.) I was impressed that they have gone beyond that and evolved to incorporate various new services to keep up with the times while preserving the traditions of a long-established inn. I would definitely like to use it again.

The room with the open-air bath with natural hot spring water was the best. The room, the hot spring, the hospitality, the food, the facilities, everything was wonderful and it became a very fond memory. It was my first time to stay in such a spacious room. It was a blissful time to be able to enjoy the open-air bath while drinking my favorite drink without worrying about the time. Both breakfast and dinner meals are served in the room, so you can enjoy luxurious ingredients. We had abalone and A5 rank Japanese black beef for dinner, and dried fish, a specialty of Atami, for breakfast. I would like to stay here again when I visit Atami.

We have stayed in many hotels and this one was very special. Shuri and all the hotel staff we met made us feel like family, the food was exquisite and made us feel like we were in the spring breeze. We were reluctant to leave. Thanks for meeting!

Visited during the last spurt of the year to refresh and finish work. It's a long-established inn with hot springs in the rooms, and although it's only a 1-minute walk from Atami Ginza, it's so comfortable inside that you don't have to go out... It's also a culinary inn, and both dinner and breakfast are served in your room, complete with set meals. Enjoy a comfortable meal time with a dedicated Nakai. A luxurious style that makes use of local ingredients and makes delicious food little by little. When you go on a trip or an expedition, you tend to have a hectic schedule, but we had the luxury of spending time in our room. Although I visit Atami several times a year, I mostly do day trips and it's been more than ten years since I last stayed here. The ryokan is a condensed version of the best parts of Japan, and we didn't hear any noise from the rooms next door, and the large communal bath had an open-air bath, so it was very comfortable. We received heartwarming hospitality, including free soft drinks from the refrigerator, and a pair of chopsticks from the waitress at the end, who said, ``I'm your friend.'' thank you very much.
