This place is actually an old motel that has clearly gone bankrupt and still tries to get naive customers to a trap. It smells of mold, there is no shower ( just a broken whirlpool ), there is no maintenance and the staff is clearly unwilling to look after the guests. To make it worse - if possible - they tried to cheat Booking pretending I was not there ( although I have my credit cards statements to prove ) just not to pay their commission. When I wrote this on the Booking review the owner was extremely impolite and aggressive , as his plote was denounced. Honestly, it makes no sense staying there even if it was for free. Run away from this joint!!

Impeccable stay at Utopian Hotels. From the second you walk in, you feel like you’re home. The Hotel and Rooms Utopian is located in a beautifully restored Portuguese home that still has some of its most beautiful original elements. The hotel is filled with beautiful artisanal furniture and a great selection of art and photography. The rooms are cozy and have all the amenities you need for a trip in Porto. Every detail was thought of. The rooms all have a FREE minibar filled with snacks and drinks for their guests to enjoy - such a treat - and the common area has a beautiful coffee machine with games and books to enjoy. Great Location Ideally located a short walk away from all the best restaurants and boutiques in Porto in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood, making you feel like a local! This place feels like a hidden gem and made my trip to Porto perfect.

Great location, close to lello and clerigos and many other attractions and restaurants, and near bus stops (easy access to and from airport or train station). Comfortable beds, very spacious and bright studio apartment. The building is safe and has an elevator. However The safe didn't work. Also you have to ask the reception beforehand to change the towels or clean the apartment during the stay otherwise they won’t. The staff however did meet all our requests when asked and brought whatever we needed.

The guest house was just what we were looking for during our short stay in Porto. It was a budget-friendly option that was just 1 street away from all of the historic and touristy part of town; we particularly liked being a block away as we didn’t hear any noise at night. The staff was very friendly and welcoming; upon arrival we were given a great map of the city and the receptionist circled some of the must-see spots. The room was cozy and comfortable, with AC and a window, however the bathroom shower was the smallest I’ve ever showered in. I was ok with the size, but my husband had some trouble showering comfortably. The space was very clean and the room was cleaned daily.

We were offered two rooms. We took the one where the wi-fi worked better. The staff was wonderful, immediately helped us with the search for a ATM (accompanied to it) where the union PAY card would work, TK it works in single ATMs. At any time of day and night you can drink coffee or tea, always ready a teapot with hot water. The cleanliness is perfect, every day cleaning and changing towels and lingerie. If we find Porto again, we will definitely stay in this hotel

This is a small hotel in a good location. When you enter (buzz to gain entry), go to elevator up to 2nd floor. The hotel is on 2nd - 5th floor. Very clean and tidy, Friendly and helpful staff. Corridors are white and grey plain. Rooms are lovely - comfortable bed, great shower, kettle with tea, safe, hanging space and plenty of open shelves, TV. Toiletries are shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and soap. Breakfast is buffet with hot scrambled eggs and sausages, rest is cold and delicious. Nice outside terrace off breakfast room. Separate charge for breakfast. There is also a good bakery which does breakfast 2 doors down. Bar also. No restaurant but plenty nearby - see my reviews of Laurear, Vaccarum and Encaixados - all within 10 mins walk and good. If you love fresh fish do go to O Valentim in Matosinhos (taxi 15 - 20 euros) or metro. I would stay again.

It did the job for a friend's trip where budget and expectations are on the lower side...but...one of the beds in our room was broken and the fix had been to put a block of wood underneath, which didn't particularly work well and provided a rough night of sleep. The lock on our door was basically hanging off the door when we arrived but they did fix it the next day . We shared a locked area with one other room so we weren't too worried about security but it's always a thought. Worse was the smell in our room area. Not sure if it was the plumbing in the shared bathroom but it was bad enough to sleep with the windows open and be happy we only had 2 nights there. Not sure I'd stay again even on a buddy trip. The price is great but I'd opt for an upgrade next time around.

Struttura abbastanza centrale che ci ha consentito di girare a piedi tutta Porto. La reception è sempre attiva e per farti ripulire la stanza devi lasciare le chiavi alla reception. La camera è pulita così come gli asciugamani vengono cambiati tutti i giorni. Personale molto gentile. Anche il phone è su richiesta. Portatevi il bagnoschiuma perché la struttura mette a disposizione bustine di shampoo e sapone per mani. Non c'è areazione in bagno, né aria condizionata ma troverete una stufetta. Non c'è l'ascensore. Tutto sommato una struttura niente male per chi non ha tante pretese.

José, un arzillo portoghese di 84 anni, la sua famiglia e lo staff gestiscono questa pensioncina fuori dal centro storico, ma ben servita nonostante il quartiere non si presti molto al turismo di massa. Prezzi stracciati, camera essenziale e senza pretese ma pulita e climatizzata; 2 notti la stanza è stata sia pulita che munita di nuove asciugamani. Il personale estremamente familiare è gentile, cortese, preparato ad ogni tua richiesta. La pensione è sorvegliata e sicura, sia all'interno che all'esterno. Servizio ed accoglienza degno di un cinque stelle. Se non si hanno grosse richieste è il meglio che si possa trovare a Porto.

The guesthouse is very clean. It is in the center off all in the town. Near the Douro, the metro, the train station . You can discover Porto easily. You have all the supermarket or pastry all around the house. My room.is like a room in an hotel. You have elevator. It is easy to live and discover Porto from this hotel.

We stayed two nights in this hotel. The style is retro, but with touches of modernity, I found it aestheticly nice. As the lift is not a little uncomfortable for the baggage. The staff were very friendly and friendly 😀 The triple room was quite date and not very spacious. The air conditioner was a little complicated to light (the remote control had no batteries compartment. The batteries were kept with scotch 😅). The small but functional bathroom. The washing machine was lost and I personally had difficulty washing because the spoon shower sets consist of 10ml bags each.... You should buy a spoon shower. I found it very good! There were traditional and handicrafted sweets, not the usual packed things. And always supplied. We personally did not enjoy their parking because on the front road, even 100 metres I believe, we found non-payment parking. I see many free parkings in the area 😁 as others say is very comfortable with the metro stop.

We stayed for 3 nights in this guest house. It is basic, clean with great staff and one of the few budget friendly places that offers breakfast also. The location is great; you can walk to almost all attractions (depending on how much you want to walk); and surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants. It is in a beautiful, old home and the details are great- if you are in that sort of thing. The good: - The staff is amazing. Every one we met was great and very helpful. The front desk person-Emerson: gave us great guidance on what to see, how to club things to get the most out of our day, where to find good restaurants, etc. - We got there sooner than our check in time, and they let us keep our luggage there, offered water etc. -Our room was ready when we got back and our luggage was put in the room - Breakfast was simple- coffee, boiled eggs, baked goods, toast, butter, jam, fruit and some meats. The breakfast was handled by the sweetest Iracema and she was amazing. They give freshly squeezed orange juice and it's amazing. We had read in reviews that there were options to given to other travelers for scrambled eggs but we did not get that option- but that's ok. We missed breakfast one day as we had to step out early but when we told Emerson he made sure the next day they let us have breakfast 15 mins before so we won't miss it. - The room was very clean. It was small- which is expected of European hotels, but was as advertised and had everything we needed. The covered balcony gave us the extra space and we enjoyed it. - They give you wine as a welcome drink- which is nice. They also offered beer and I am not sure it's a norm; maybe it was done as a special thin-due to the first 'not so good' point below. The not so good: -It was hot the 2 out of 3 nights we were there. When we went to our room after it was ready the room was stuffy and hot. There are no fans and the Air conditioning unit was throwing warm air. So we went and told the front desk associate who told us that the there was an issue with the Air conditioning unit in that room and their repair person was sick so he can not get anyone there till a day later and it will be fixed then (2 nights out of 3 nights of our stay). This annoyed us as this should have been something that should have been mentioned when we checked in. We asked can we move to another room and were told there were no other rooms empty. We asked for a fan and they gave us one. They also told us to open the windows as it cools down in the night and that should help- so we did as it very hard to sleep in the room without that. That led to another issue-mosquitoes. So we did not get a good night's sleep 1st night fighting hot stuffy room and/or mosquitoes . On day 2 ( Sunday) I requested again and told about the mosquito issue; I was told they are trying to get another repair man. In the evening when we got back and checked we were told that they got the new repair person and the air conditioner needs a part which th

Although they say on booking that the check-in is made in the afternoon, we called at 8 a.m. and the lady who answered us, even though she did not speak Italian or English, a little Spanish knew it. We were agreed and made the entrance in the morning after an hour, and when we arrived at the hotel we found a sweet old lady (the lady we made a phone call) and surprised when we went up to the room. A upgrade from one room with single beds one above the other. To a beautiful marriage at the latest floor under the roof. The very clean and quiet room. We enjoyed a deserving rest after walking under rain. At check-out the beautiful lady of the building at three o'clock and go to the reception to greet us. Excellent WiFi. Thanks and next 🙏

They were responsive to my emails prior to my arrival. My flight was delayed in Porto and arrived around 1 am when there was a staff waiting for me upon arrival (24 reception). I'd say the room was enough for me, essentials were provided such as shampoo, and body wash. The room is cleaned every day. The hotel is quite a walk from the old town though (20-30mins), and going back it is a really steepy hill so I'd advise to wear comfy shoes if you're walking to/from the hotel. Although there is a bus stop nearby and Ubers are relatively cheap. Breakfast wise- there is no hot food but you get your bread, fruit, yoghurt (continental breakfast). The staff were very helpful during my stay- very hospitable!! i would book again here to stay if I was in Porto.

Location was perfect, far enough away from the busy city centre but still convenient for cool bars, restaurants etc. Our room was perfect, beautiful decor, very comfortable bed and private access to the gorgeous garden. Staff couldn't be more helpful with advice of where to visit in and around Porto. Sara in particular was delightful - so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her and she made the most delicious omelettes in the morning! The restaurant food was amazing, we ate there twice during our stay for dinner. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Porto.
