Ten-yu is amazing. We were impressed from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The kind staff allowed us an early check-in at 1 p.m. and arranged lounge services for our three-day, two-night stay. While the breakfast buffet was exceptional—an extensive spread paired with bubbles and wine—the Kaiseiki dinner was a bit disappointing in comparison. We were fortunate to experience a picturesque snowfall that transformed the hotel’s surroundings into a postcard-like scene, and since we drove, getting around was never an issue despite the snow. The staff were thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

It was a perfect hotel stay for families visiting Hakone. The room was spacious for our family of three. Comfortable bed and well kept room amenities. The buffet breakfast and dinner food and drinks were delicious. We love our visit to the Hakone Kowakien Morinoyu which was included with our hotel stay.
The only thing I didn’t like was the checkin procedure. We had to use a machine to checkin instead of going to the checkin counter and have front desk staff processing for us. It was a terrible experience because the machine failed at recognising our passport and it was terribly hard to enter everyone’s details on the touch screen. I should have to do this myself as a guest. Please get rid of the machine check in.
This is my second visit, what I would say is I was really lucky last time that I booked random classic room via trip.com and I was assigned the minamimirai city+harbour view 2single bed room (which is the most exp one in non suite guest room) , this time I booked for the same view but a double bed and the room is smaller. The room is still so perfect for chill vacation. Nice walk to park or JR station in early winter, convenience shop nearby , everything is fine.
Do book for Spa some weeks earlier, I just missed it this time. Hope to return in near future.

There are too many complaints, so I will list them one by one: 1. The view from the private bath in the room is very bad; 2. The public bath only has one big pool, and there is no basic configuration of sauna room; 3. The surrounding environment is monotonous, and there are no garden facilities; 4. The shuttle bus is arrogant and only stops at Kowakudani Station; 5. The freshness of the food is average. As one of the top hot spring hotels in Hakone, I have to say that I am quite disappointed.
Very good ryokan. We booked it for a ine day trip because we wanted to escape from Tokyo. The atmosphere of the ryokan is refreshing. We got to take a forest bath. The private outdoor onsen is very private. The towels are soft. The bed is very good. There is an onsen in the room. The breakfast is also good. The staff is very good.
Located on the hills of Odawara, you can overlook the endless sea view. The environment is quiet and the air is fresh, which is refreshing. Since we were upgraded to a suite, the room is in a prime location and you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise! As for the meals, there are many kinds of food, but the taste is very average. However, everyone has different tastes, so I will not comment on it.
Hotel staff is as always very friendly and staff recognized us once we check in.
As this is a memorial trip for my mom who visited this hotel in Nov. We stayed in the same room.
The caring arrangement from hotel is always the reason we come again and again.
The location of the hotel is excellent especially there is bus services to Narita airport right in front of the hotel.
The location is also near to Hammerhead pier where shopping ad food are available.
The view from the window is wonderfully impressive and beautiful.
The staff are all friendly and helpful
The room is spacious and clean.
The Ocean cafeteria located on the ground level serves excellent buffet where we enjoyed good food and Sushi.
We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend our friends and relatives when they visit Yokohama.

I love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we
started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road.

Highly recommended!!! The food is great, the private bath in the room is great, and the public bath is not crowded, so you can basically enjoy it all to yourself. The scenery outside is beautiful, and there is a shuttle bus to Gora Station. There is a sculpture forest nearby, which is worth a visit

AAnonymous UserExcellent hotel. Although the room is large for Tokyo, there’s little room for clothing so you end up mostly living out of a suitcase. Also, toilet light came on automatically and was very bright - so using during the night was disturbing.

CcghucgkeThe hotel is just around the corner from the mountain train station. The environment is very good and the facilities are complete. Toiletries and lotions are provided. You can check in directly with just a change of clothes. I left my luggage at the Tokyo Hotel. The Kaiseki dinner was of good quality. If you are not used to Kaiseki, you can get off at the previous stop, Mori no Bijutsu. There is Lawson opposite. Buy some snacks, instant noodles and cook in the microwave!
AAnonymous UserThis is my first time to experience this kind of pure Japanese-style hotel. Although I only stayed there for one night in a hurry, the experience was very rich and colorful. The service staff was warm and considerate. Although we relied almost entirely on translation machines and body language, it did not affect our communication. The aunt who was responsible for taking care of us would patiently help us change our clothes, remind us to appreciate the cherry blossoms, and ask us where to go. It felt like my own relatives were taking care of the children who came to travel. This is probably the meaning of a family hotel. Dinner and breakfast were very delicious and sufficient! The girls really couldn't finish it! When I learned that someone of us had a birthday, I got a handwritten blessing card, which was very touching! Our friends agreed to stay more time to come here next time!

CCyphExcellent accommodation and the location is to die for if MtFuji and the lake is what you’re looking for. A very quiet area in the morning and at night when the tour buses are gone.
For those looking to book, here are a few tips we found out to help you out. There’s no receptionist so you will have to figure out how to get in so do not walk on the street side but walk over to the lake side and enter. Otherwise if you enter from the street side, the first pin pad you see is the wrong one. If it’s in front of the door marked “private” then the door code won’t work. Walk around to the front and look for glass doors. That’s where you can enter your door code.
The onsen water is extremely hot. Maybe that’s how onsen works but I couldn’t stay for more than 5 minutes as I got dizzy. The loft area is low ceilings but my kids loved sleeping there. However the food here isn’t great so plan accordingly. The 7-11 close by has great snacks.
If I ever return to Hakone I would stay here again.

MMan KiActually same trip with previous comment, we just made the booking separately for trying the hotel's breakfast for 1 day.
We paid for upgrading the room from studio to 1 bedroom one, a bit expensive but it's really worth for it. The room is clean and large, and with balcony that we can take great picture there, nice day and night view!! Since it's kind of service apartment, the kitchen tools are available for use, and there is a supermarket nearby the hotel, we bought food there (yummy Japanese beef...strawberry......etc.) and made sukiyaki ourselves as night snack. XD
Hotel has lounge for free coffee and tea, as well as gym room, the facilities are more than enough.
There are 2 style of set breakfast - Japanese style and West style, we chose Japanese's one and it's tasty, the fish is yum yum.
GGuest UserExcellent hotel
Large space, separate wet and dry bathrooms
There is also a large balcony with mountain views
The buffet breakfast is very rich, with many varieties and delicious
Kid-friendly
I will stay here again next time
