Great Location and Amazing Rooftop! The location of the hotel was very convenient — perfect for exploring Beijing! While the room was quite small and the only window faced directly onto a wall, we didn’t mind too much as we spent most of our time out discovering the city. The room was very clean and neat, which we appreciated. The highlight was definitely the rooftop — absolutely stunning! We enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets there, a perfect way to end each day. Overall, a good stay for short city trips where you're mostly out and about!

This hotel accepted foreigners guests. They were hospitable and helpful. Though most of the staff could't speak English, but they would use their translator apps to communicate witht their guests. They allowed us to check in early as we need to go to The temple of heaven at 12pm. We enjoyed the service, free mineral water bottles, free fruit and free evening meals. And also we received this small gifts as we checked out. Thanks Jing Li✨️

The staff were very helpful—even though they didn’t speak English fluently, they tried their best to assist with translation to ensure clear communication. I arrived early in the morning and needed to leave my luggage first, but luckily, a room was available so I could check in right away without waiting until the afternoon. However, The room still needed a bit of time to be prepared, so I waited for around 30 minutes before heading out to explore. Please note that some disposable items like cotton swabs or similar amenities are not provided in the room—you’ll need to request them directly from the staff.

A great place to stay overall. Check-in was fuss-free. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The bed was large and there were 2 pillows of varying hardness. The toilet and shower area was separate and toilet even had a bathtub. Water pressure was good and the hot water came on easily. Amenity kit including toothbrush, toothpaste and shaver was provided at check in. Staff generally made good effort to improve the stay - providing water bottles and a radiator in the room on request. There was some communication difficulty when it came to having parcels left at the concierge though that was eventually sorted out. The hotel had a well equipped gym, a good length heated swimming pool, a hot tub and a sauna, with the facilities available for use till 11pm. Location is convenient, with the nearest metro station less than 10 minutes away.

Hotel's location is so good. Easy access to Forbidden City. Super near yo 王府井. There are plenty of eateries and shops within 3 to 5 minutes walking distance. Very near to 金鱼胡同 metro, walk about 2 to 3 minutes only. Another bonus is the most famous restaurant with Peking duck is just next door. Can go take a que number and come back hotel to rest and wait for your turn. The restaurant is forever long que. We waited 1.5 hours (in the hotel room), but the taste is worth the wait. The size of the room is sufficient. There is laundry service on 5th floor. You won't regret to stay here.

The service provided by Concierge Jason was excellent and efficient. Front Desk staff member Rita was exceptionally friendly and understanding. Additionally, the male staff member with black glasses who works in the Lobby Restaurant was very professional. Their outstanding service is truly appreciated, and I believe they all deserve recognition or perhaps even a raise. While I did have a minor encounter with a couple of Lobby Restaurant staff members whose service was less satisfactory, I have already shared my concerns directly with the management team. Overall, my experience was very positive thanks to the efforts of the other outstanding team members.

We would recommend this hotel. It’s a very chill and aesthetically pleasing spot in a busy city. The shared lounge area and garden are cosy and great places to enjoy coffee or read a book. Everything felt clean and comfortable. We got a free upgrade to a bigger room. Right across the hotel there are some shops where you can buy good food, the egg sandwich you can buy there is great. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, which was very convenient. The staff is very friendly as well and made an effort to communicate with translation apps. We would definitely come back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tongpai. Near metro, just across the street. The metro also connects to a shopping center across the hotel. Good location, easy to go anywhere. We didn't take the breakfast but there are some nice shops selling breakfast around the neighbourhood. Connected to shopping center at level 5. Although it was rather cold in April, the room temperature was just right. All basic amenities available, clean and very value for money. A lot of international crowd. Everything was perfect! 👍👍

We really enjoyed our stay. Every day cleaning, fresh towels and bottles of water. Location is really nice, close to food spots and and nice food market. Highly recommend on the food market: the Beijing Duck, 39 RMB for half of duck with pancakes. Close to great blind massage place. We took 3 times a massage. 90 RMB for 1 hour full body or foot massage. Subway was around 8 mins walking.

WWee Liang OngThe hotel is located at a convenient location near a few shopping malls and the subway. It is very convenient. The rooms are clean and big with alot of space. However the room furniture, showers and other amenities are a bit dated. For example, we have problem closing the sliding shower door as there is a lot of friction and there is a bit gap even after closing the door. From the room itself, you can see the bathroom. If you are staying with your spouse, it should be ok. But if you are with friends, it can be awkward. At the main lobby reception, there are no seats or sofa during checkin. I find it very incovenient as after a long flight and travelling from the airport to the hotel, our family member have to stand at the lobby and wait for the room keys.

MMaverick MakStayed 2 nights at the Commune by the Great Wall, an Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The resort is spread over a big acres of land within the Shuiguan area, also a short proximity to the renowned Badaling Great Wall. You have to reach there by car or by DiDi as there is no public transport to reach the Commune. This is a resort for those who wish to spend quality time, to seek refuge and to relax. The resort was designed by 12 individual renowned architects, each reflecting their own taste and styles, clearly demonstrated in the Communal Home you are staying. Each Communal Home consists of 5-6 rooms where you share common spaces such as Living, Dining, Kitchen and Courtyard with other fellow travellers. You will still have your own room and private bathroom similar to any other hotels or resorts. With the Communal Home, you can access these public area / communal area where often it is under utilised which is great for us. The room is immaculately adorned with the furniture styles of the Communal Home you have selected. There is Cantilever House (Red House), Terrace House, Suitcase House, Bamboo Wall, Forest House etc. My Bamboo Wall room is a little small in my opinion. The bedding is on a Tatami Platform. Bathroom is too big and it takes up too much space for the bedroom. There are limited spaces for the suitcase as we travel from afar. There is also no hook for clothing in the bathroom, no hook for the hand towel which is quite strange given that it is quite luxurious. We bought the package which includes daily breakfast for 2 with Shuiguan Great Wall Ticket and a High Tea. There is an outdoor swimming pool within the hotel and a gym. The pool is only open for 3 months during the summer months, not sure why the restrictions even though it is not a heated pool. During my visit, day time was hot and the air temperature was around 26-28 degrees. Though the water temperature may be way cooler, but if the pool is opened, we will probably take a dip. The breakfast is either a la carte or buffet depending on the hotel's occupancy rate. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel as well and the food is very good though it is on the pricey side. To move around the resort, you will either walk (depending on the location of your accommodation), it can be far away from the restaurant or the reception. You can call them for a car pick up. The driver 小宋 is a great asset to the property, so as our Housekeeper 小李(李鸿建), he was very attentive and observatory. He saw we have many medicine and supplements in the room and he gave us extra water and left us a note. Great initiative! In short, it is a very memorable stay and a very good hideaway.

QQuin56Review: Stay Home This trip was like an encounter with prehistoric man and a case study of a failed business combined. If you book a standard room, you will be taken away from the five star reception area to another building which has the decor and standards of a thirty year old hotel. Faded carpets, peeling walls, smelly interiors, uncleaned floors and rooms which are impossible to heat. But it was just about liveable, in that it had a bed and hot water. What totally failed to impress were the amenities. We'd come for the children's stuff, the little zoo, water park and others. The price of these are not included in the hotel, and for each experience they charge adults and baby to the tune of 80rmb, meaning you will spend quite a bit to use it all. As soon as I saw the children's rides I became depressed, they were rusting and looked murderous, as if the nuts and bolts would be dislodged and explode fatally in all directions if a kid shook too heavily on the things. To even use anything suggested you'd become unclean as well. Then you attempt to ask staff something but stop when you realise how futile it would be to address someone with one eye in its forehead and the other in its chin, with their peers boasting similarly fascinating facial misalignments. An hour of that and we wanted to leave, including our baby. She would have been much happier at home playing with her toys, or rather just happy at home doing anything than being at the Nirvana resort. Anyway, the swimming pool is not free either, they will charge you 58 a person including child. When I went to ask about a swim, staff were downright stunned I'd walked in to ask such a question, watching as I entered and left with hillbilly intensity and incomprehension. You can see the park had a lot of money invested in it before, way back in the misty past, but I can't see them recouping their losses. The resort is a grab money scheme with separate interests taking care of, or neglecting, what is on offer. I can't see them attracting a moneyed middle class without a total overhaul. On the plus side, my wife and I did have a good laugh about how bad it was and the fact we'd packed for a few days in expectation of a holiday, but found ourselves cancelling after an hour. The reception was helpful with this and refunded our money. The staff are well meaning in a vacuous kind of way, going about their duties as the whole place drops about them, broken lifts, falling plaster, water leaks and all. But to be sincerely positive, the gardens are pleasant along with the lake and ducks.

GGuest UserMy family and I have visited Beijing 5 times since 2011, and every time we've stayed at the Tangla. It has definitely lost some of its initial grandeur through the years, but is still a good value. The rooms are clean and a little more spacious than a typical hotel room, with a desk area and a bathroom that includes a separate tub and shower. The hotel has 22 floors with 4 elevators that work very efficiently. It was rare when we needed to wait longer than a minute for the elevator to arrive. The location is pretty good. Right across the street is a shopping mall with a supermarket, numerous restaurants on the 4th and 5th floors and some fast food on the first floors. On another side of the street is the Capital Museum, which is worth checking out for an afternoon if you have the time. A subway stop is a half-kilometer walk away, and that subway line runs directly to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing, and numerous other attractions. However, traffic at this intersection has made this location less desirable over time. The main intersection doesn't allow left turns, and street lights don't change for 2 or more minutes at a time during most of the day. As a result, when taking a taxi, your taxi might be mere blocks away but nevertheless 5 minutes to get to the hotel. The traffic can also make taking a taxi down Chang'an street very, very slow. The 6km taxi ride to the Forbidden City can easily take 30 or more minutes just between waiting for your car to arrive and the roundabout way he has to take to get there. The hotel has a gym and pool. The pool is really nice and my son says the gym is too. There's a salon/massage place that we haven't used. It used to have three restaurants but one of them has since closed. We did not use either of the existing restaurants due to the abundance of good restaurants across the street. There is a tea room that we would have taken advantage of during this last trip but it has been closed indefinitely as well. The hotel features 5-star award plaques from previous years but the most recent year with a plaque is from 2018. Support from the front desk in English is minimal. They had one staff member with a limited knowledge of English but that's the extent of it. My wife speaks Chinese so this didn't present a burden for me, but it might for some other English speaking guests. Overall, it's still a good hotel with a good location, and prices are very good. I can't say when I'll be back in Beijing again, but when I am chances are good I'll be back at the Tangla.

NNaomi patWe had a lovely stay myself and my 11 year old son, hotel was very clean and well kept and conveniently located near the railway station and a small shopping complex/office complex! Decent breakfast with a lovely restaurant area and great deals for guest and delicious food on the 3rd floor restaurant. Breakfasts buffet had a variety of both western and Asian option, very worth the price. Lovely young man named Justin was very kind to help us with our bags, as well as Mila from the tour agency on the ground floor helped us to book taxis as my apps were not working well to book. Only thing I would add, is that for foreigners it would be ideal to have a local translating app, as communication in English could be challenging. Would stay again for sure, thank you
