DDayanThe hotel is so comfortable. I can stay two more days next time. The breakfast is very exquisite. The service is also very good. There are open-air hot springs and private hot springs. It is 5 minutes away from the Hirayu Onsen Bus Station. It is very convenient to travel

SShixiansen、The hotel is brand new and excellent, with a fantastic location – just a five-minute walk from both the Nohi Bus Center and JR Takayama Station. Right downstairs, there's Ajikura Tengoku, an excellent spot for Hida beef. However, it's best to queue by 4 PM; during summer, even if it looks quiet from the outside, the restaurant is completely packed inside, and waiting times start from an hour. The beef quality is superb, and it costs around 200-300 per person. The service there is also excellent. The hotel rooms are quite spacious, and they're cleaned daily. Plus, having a balcony is a nice bonus!

GGuest UserStayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.

SSkywalker2745Facilities: Excellent! The parking spaces are generously sized, and the hotel lobby is bright and spacious. They even have an ice machine, which is a great bonus!
Hygiene: Both the interior and exterior are clean and tidy. The onsen (hot spring bath) area, in particular, is spotless and odor-free.
Environment: Perched on a hill, the hotel offers panoramic views of Takayama city. The road to and from the city center is well-maintained and not far. By car, it's a maximum 10-minute drive to the popular Hida beef restaurant district.
Service: The lady who checked me in at the front desk was very polite, patiently answering all my questions. She communicated fluently in English and even spoke some Chinese. The onsen's interior is beautifully designed, quiet, comfortable, and offers fantastic views – definitely worth spending extra time to enjoy.
I will definitely choose this hotel again when I return to Hida-Takayama!

GGuest UserVery good onsen with a nice view, rooms were a little dusty but its probably normal for a hotel this age. Breakfast were very disappointing as we were looking forward to a Japanese style breakfast but we served with toast sausages egg and yogurt. We asked the staff for a change but they said Japanese breakfast are fully booked and blamed that we didn't book beforehand, nothing was informed about having to book for Japanese meals!! And this is a ryokan style, it goes without saying!!

Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room.
We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking.
The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs.
Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

AAnonymous UserI stayed with my two-year-old daughter and stayed in different Japanese-style hotels many times. This time I booked two hotels in Shinhotaka/Hirayu Onsen. This is the first one.
The location and view of the hotel are very good. The decoration is very good. Food is good. The front desk supervisor sister is also very good and hard-working. I would like to praise her. He also said that there are currently not enough staff to require tolerance. But some services are not in place. The hot spring pool and floors were not cleaned properly and there was a lot of moss. I almost slipped and fell several times! It was too dangerous and felt dirty. Perhaps to save money, the heating was not turned on in the passages and the entire public space was too cold. In addition, you can actually pull your luggage into the room from outside. . I was worried about the tatami mats in the passageway I came all the way to. . There are also concerns about overall hygiene. People have to take off their shoes when entering the hotel, but wheels are not required 😂
Two waiters in the restaurant. One can also make the other girl keep a straight face the whole time. When the small basin was dirty and I asked for it to be replaced, I was told ”No” - I don't know what kind of Japanese service this is.
In addition, the hotel (the day I stayed) was mostly occupied by foreign guests. . The menu is also in English in Japanese format (haha!). It is estimated that this restaurant mainly caters to Western customers, but it is not a traditional Japanese service.
