Amazing
GGuest UserWe fell in love with this villa on first sight! The pictures don’t do it justice at all. The surroundings and rooms are beautiful, and the entire property is newly renovated so it’s clean and modern. We appreciate how the host is generous to provide amenities and toiletries, which makes our stay even more memorable.
The bedding is comfortable, and the towels are also of good quality. Additionally, we also enjoyed the washer and dryer, so we can have fresh clean clothes daily! Very thoughtful indeed!
Overall, it’s an amazing stay at Sokaku Residence and we’ll highly recommend you to book a stay here!
GGuest UserWe checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me.
I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement.
YYOUNGIL JINThe environment was great, the food was delicious, and everything was perfect. It was also a great way to enjoy the outdoor family hot springs with your partner or spouse. If the weather is nice in the evening, you can even see the stars.
Llinda_ddHotel service facilities: We drove there so we could drive directly to the hotel entrance. The entrance is not big, but there is free parking. In the mountains, the environment is very private and the air is fresh. I came here specifically to experience Japanese-style accommodation and hot springs. There are not many rooms in the whole hotel, and they are very clean. There are public hot springs and private hot springs in the rooms, but there is no place to take a bath in the room, so you need to go to the public hot spring to take a bath.
Service: As soon as we arrived at the door of the hotel, two waiters came out to receive us, one to guide and one to help with luggage; we also sat there to check in in the lobby, with wet towels and drinks. We ordered breakfast and dinner, and they were delivered directly to the room at a set time; when we left, there would also be two waiters to greet us. The service is extreme.
Food: Very rich and classic Japanese set meals. I don’t eat raw food, so I made arrangements in advance. There are vegetables, fish and seafood, which are very rich.
Another point is that it is too close to nature, and occasionally various small animals will greet you 😂
GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located on the hillside, making it easily accessible by car. The staff are incredibly enthusiastic, proactively helping with luggage and even offering to take a commemorative photo before departure, which they print on the spot. The room features three hot springs with adjustable temperatures, offering beautiful and peaceful views. The meals are exquisite and generously portioned.
GGuest UserAll the hotel staff were fantastic! I didn't book the half-board option on Trip.com, but I successfully added it via email, and the staff were very thoughtful, asking about any food allergies. The room was generally very clean, and toiletries were provided. The only slight drawback was the moss in the onsen. The inn also has a car park.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There's a convenience store just a few minutes' drive away, which is super convenient! Already looking forward to my next stay!
PpixiebelleQuiet onsen accommodation with excellent service. Easy to reach with free shuttle bus service. Staff spoke enough English for communication. It's a boutique onsen experience with huge room and attached private onsen (spring water). Highly recommended.
GGuest UserWell run resorts with top notch service. Set in a very serene surrounding facing paddy fields and mountains. A great base to explore the outdoor options around the Yufu / Beppu area. The dinners and breakfast meals are relatively ‘formal’ but love the variety of traditional Japanese food and the meticulous service by the crew, especially Tami who speaks very good English and introduced us to many local attractions.
GGuest UserThe stay was perfect - from the moment of arrival. Staff greeted us at the parking & took our luggage. The room was very clean. All the staff were very friendly & professional. We stayed on a less busy night. The ryokan gave us a sense of tranquility, which is a good place to recharge, especially with the in-room onsen. The breakfast & dinner were excellent. Would definitely recommend this hotel. This hotel is quite high on the hill, best to drive it take taxi.
AAlexanderhwleeThe onsen and food were excellent. Rooms were also spacious and well laid out. My only complaint is the staff could have been more flexible with their service. For instance, our party had six people spread across three rooms. We could not dine together because the table seating limit was four. So we had to split up the family to accommodate the hotel, instead of the hotel accommodating us. Unfortunately this is sometimes the norm for traveling in Japan.
