GGuest UserA hidden gem. I don't even want to share this review to make this hotel too popular! As a person who doesn't speak very good Chinese, the staff at this hotel were very accommodating despite the language barrier. When you first arrive at the hotel, you are greeted by a creative garden complete with outdoor dining areas, swings, a fish tank, and more. On check in, the receptionist was very attentive to all of my questions and directed me to the places I asked about through wechat. It was very easy to follow the directions. I was also offered a spread of fresh fruit to enjoy before settling in my room. The room was spacious and clean and had the most advanced toilet that I have ever used! There was a wide open window for a beautiful view of the dialou across the pond. The suite of amenities was also much appreciated, including snacks, toiletries, and slippers. A highlight of this hotel is the breakfast. They not only provide the standard Chinese breakfast fare such as porridge and pastries, but also served local kaiping specialties. They also have food you can order off of a menu but I didn't have anything during my stay. Upon checkout I was also given a goodie bag filled with local specialties and treats which was much appreciated!

GGuest UserVisited Chikan during the May Day holiday and chose this hotel at the Guangdong Overseas Chinese International Tourist Resort. It's not far from the scenic area, offers great value for money, and the service and hygiene are excellent. Plus, the underground parking has EV charging spots, which is super convenient for electric car owners! Highly recommend!

My stay at the Country Garden Phoenix Hotel in Taishan completely exceeded my expectations this time, and it's definitely worth a review.
First, the room. The bedding was incredibly clean; the white sheets were spotless. The mattress was just right – not too soft, not too firm – ensuring a full night's sleep. The cleanliness of the bathroom was even more reassuring. I specifically checked the shower walls and grout, and found no mold or grime. This attention to detail really shows the hotel's high management standards.
The amenities also deserve praise. The hotel has washing machines and dryers, which is incredibly convenient for families with kids or guests staying for multiple days, saving you from bringing home a pile of dirty laundry. Even more surprising was the small children's play area. While not huge, it was enough to keep the little ones happy. My child spent nearly an hour there playing with LEGOs, giving the adults a much-needed break.
Breakfast is also worth mentioning. I didn't have high expectations given the reasonable price, but the variety was actually quite good. There were noodle soups, steamed dumplings (siu mai), congee, and side dishes, all tasting delicious. That bowl of hot noodle soup, in particular, was so comforting and set me up for the whole day. It's definitely a 'small but mighty' breakfast – you'll leave full and satisfied.
Even though prices increased quite a bit during Chinese New Year, it was still acceptable. On regular weekends, it offers excellent value for money!
If you're visiting Taishan, this hotel is worth considering. It's clean, thoughtful, and offers great value, especially suitable for family travel.

GGuest UserThe front desk lady was incredibly thoughtful and even upgraded my room for free. The environment was clean and tidy, with a warm and comfortable atmosphere that made me feel so relaxed. It offers great value for money, and it's right next to a large shopping mall. I'd definitely recommend it to other friends. Just a heads-up, if you're driving, the parking is shared with the mall, so it can get a bit crowded on holidays. The breakfast was rich and varied too!

YYichuanxinWe stayed at the hotel on the second day of the ***** New Year. The room was spacious, new, and tidy, with a street-facing balcony. It featured a smart toilet and intelligent lighting controls. The check-in lobby offered an afternoon tea set with exquisite dim sum and a variety of drinks, plus a play area for children. The buffet supper had a wide selection, which was perfect as we came back from watching the fireworks that evening and enjoyed a complimentary supper directly at the hotel. The hotel is located in a bustling city area, making our trip with elderly parents and children very convenient and comfortable.

The room was spotless, the bedding comfortable, and all the amenities were complete and functional. The hotel environment was quiet with excellent soundproofing, ensuring a peaceful rest. Downstairs, there's a mall, making dining and shopping super convenient, and transportation was also easy. The service was warm and attentive; check-in was efficient, and they paid attention to thoughtful details. Overall, it was a perfect experience with great value for money. __WeChat9759****Traveling with kids this time, staying at the hotel right inside the scenic area was super convenient. We even got to visit again the next day, and it wasn't crowded for photos in the morning. The room was huge, with a separate wet and dry area, and the soundproofing was excellent. There's a kids' playground downstairs that kept them so entertained they didn't want to come back to the room. The hotel is close to the North Gate, so it's less than a 5-minute drive to the park entrance, and parking is free. In the evenings, you can order takeout to the hotel, and they offer a complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning.

GGuest UserI chose this hotel due to its proximity to both my home and my grandparents' house. However, an event called the ”All-China National Games”, specifically a volleyball tournament held in Taishan - meant that most of the players were also staying here. I understand that this arrangement was likely due to government decision-making.
Nonetheless, this situation caused significant inconvenience to regular guests. For instance, delivery services (robots) were prohibited, and access to the self-service laundry was restricted. When I asked for assistance, a staff member stated, ”We don't do laundry for customers.” Only after I explained my inconvenience was caused by the national games did the manager offer to make an exception, saying, ”We will do laundry for you since you are a special case these days.” This reasoning is highly unsatisfactory. The reason I couldn't do my laundry was that I was denied access to the sixth floor, where the laundry room is located. If the hotel cannot adequately accommodate regular customers during such events, they should not accept bookings from the public.

GGuest UserI had a pleasant stay at the Manley Hotel during my visit to Taishan. The service was excellent—staff were attentive, helpful, and made the experience feel welcoming from check-in to check-out.
The location is very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and shopping options just steps away. Even if you need to head into downtown Taishan, taxis are easy to find and very affordable, making it simple to get around the city.
The breakfast offered at the hotel was great, though it’s worth noting that it’s entirely Chinese cuisine—something I personally enjoyed, especially for an authentic local experience.
The downside was the laundry dryer— There was only one dryer for 3 washing machines, it didn’t work very efficiently and took about six hours to dry a single load, which was a bit frustrating.
The Wi-Fi was also very unreliable, it would connect and then drop constantly. Even when it would work, the speeds would fluctuate.
Overall, I’d recommend the Manley Hotel for its excellent service, local charm, and convenient location.
